My son dose this too. It started almost 2 years ago, He has head jerking to bring his eyes back to the centre. I was so worried when it started as he had a accident at playcentre and a few weeks later this started. He had an MRI scan which was normal and an EEG to look for epilepsy. He has it on and off for afew months at a time. I see you uploaded this vid in 2010, how is she now? is she still having the tic's?
My son 6 year old son does this too, but different. I have a video on here almost exactly like this. I was talking to him about his Christmas list. LOL.
Your daughter is adorable. My son has had the same exact tic for the past year.. and this is the first time I have bothered looking up any videos for eye rolling tics. He has the same exact thing though, and when I was watching it I thought "well, he has it a little worse than hers", then I saw where you wrote that this was a mild episode. My son also does not notice it, but it causes me so much anxiety. I'm hoping he does begin to grow out of it. Thank you for sharing!
She is a darling girl, very smart and articulate. My daughter is age 25 and she had some tourette symptoms, don't think she was diagnosed officially. However, she did the eye-blinking and then did some spitting, cart-wheels were the most annoying, ha! Anyway, she outgrew it. I can tell your daughter has a wonderful mother in the background, giving all kinds of positive reinforcement and love. Makes me happy to see this. Good job!!! Our children are our greatest joy.
I would encourage EVERYONE whose child does this movement to have it checked out ASAP, as the alternative to tics just don't bear thinking about (and isn't it better to know what's really going on with your kids?) We feel so grateful to live in Australia and have excellent medical care. Will try to post a video of our daughter too....
We have just spent 4 days in hospital trying to discover the reason for our daughter's sudden onset of eye rolling (up and to the left, just like in your video). She is 8, fit and healthy and no history of any issues. After MRI, chest x-ray and abdominal ultrasound the paediatrician ruled out all the really nasty stuff. Having seen countless doctors this week, they have concluded that in the absence of any other symptoms, that she has ocular tics, which should disappear on their own.
It was diagnosed as a complex tic disorder. There was no known cause for it starting, and it comes and goes, but it looks like she will fully grow out of it. :)
She's adorable! What a sweet and articulate kid. Our 21 month old seems to be starting to show some signs of tics - I'm discovering the road to diagnosis is a long one. All the best to you.
My son started an eye tic (eyes would roll very similar to the above video) in second grade it started out just kinda darting and then became constant. I believe he has PANDAS. Had two ear infections went on antibiotics and the eye rolling stopped after the second batch of antibiotics. Then just as baseball season started he started doing it again, just not so bad. He is now if 5th grade and every year when baseball season starts his eyes start. Allergies have been ruled out.
I know I would never want anyone else to have to go through this with their child also, but I also know that it's a good feeling to know that you're not alone in something like this. I saw so many videos and read so many stories about children that came through it all OK, and it really helped me deal with it. I hope you guys get the same from this. My daughter is doing so much better and the tics are so infrequent now that I hardly notice them. Hopefully it keeps getting better! For you guys too
Hi, my son is 7 years old and took Concerta for 2 months, he first started the blinking which developed into an odd eye roll and now he kind of looks to the side and the head goes along with is.He wakes up better and by night time he is worse. The hardest thing is to see him eating or doing homework where he has to keep looking away to turn his eye and head. It breaks my heart and I cry,and cry when I'm alone (movement of head along with eye tic started about 2 weeks ago, I think. keep us posted
my ten year old boy has been having tics for about four years. they come and go. The head turning is the one that doesn't seem to go go as the others did. Neurologist syas he's ok; he'll grow out of them. However, my son is getting quite bothered by the tics now and doesn't seem to focus well. I'm trying a chiropractors next week.
The EEG didn't show any signs of neurological problems, and as long as she doesn't begin any verbal tics or other body tics, she will not be diagnosed with Tourettes. The tics have waxed and waned (come and gone) like the pediatrician said they might, but overall they have been managable. It is very scary to not know what's going on with her, so I feel your stress with your son. Let me know if I can help you with anything.
My Daughter has these.. We have seen a regular Neuro Dr and a Ped Neuro.. they beleive this to be Sydenham's Chorea brought on by a Strep infection she had 6 months prior.. We see Him again in April.. I will try to repost then.. My Daughter still does this but way less frequent.. seems to come on when she is getting sick or super sleepy. She also has a lot of nightmares, separation anxiety and behavior mood changes..ugh. Thanks for posting your video.. I was thinking I was a bit alone.
Hi, my son (7) has started this kind of behaviour more noticably in the last couple of weeks, i am unsure of how long it has been going on and when it started. Some days like today he is quite bad. I was just wondering if you had any more answers as to what it could be. I am very worried about my son and this is the closest thing I have seen
Thank you! She just started this on Nov 1 2010. The pediatrician diagnosed her with Complex Tic Disorder until further tests are done. Wed she will have a sleep deprived EEG and we should get more answers then. Hopefully it's just a TD and not TS.
