@MrKraphead if you read up about him you'll find that he was moving to an area but was shot twice which damaged his memory and disabled him, that's when you come in and fix him and when you hear his first log he tells you he is a prototype and the only one of his kind being sent to someplace.

and if you finish the game and its showing you all those ending that you caused it shows ED-E speaking in his robotic voice that he hear the same voice command and continued his journey

@owmyears Put it this way i have played Fallout 3 for about 200 hours and its only crashed 2 times then you have New Vegas that has moments of really bad lag and freezes after 6 or 7 hours its not only that the map itself has nothing interesting to see or do and another thing that annoyed me was the fact you cant continue the game after you finish it.

I love this game. This fucking fantastic. You can play it how you want it! I just finished it. This game is HUGE! It took me a weekend to get through Red Dead Redemption that itself is a big game. But this game too me a fucking month to complete. I love it because there are so many sides of 'good' and 'bad' and there are so many variables.

His perk gives you max perception, you see people from a mile away on your compass

1-his laser is surprisingly powerful.

2-he gives you Enhanced sensors which makes you detect enemies BEFORE you can even see them WITH A SCOPE!

3-he plays a little funny music everytime enemies are aware of your presence.

4-after a series of quests you can either upgrade his armor from the BoS(dont recommend it), or his laser, which will be incredibly powerful.

P.S: you can have ED-E and Boone atst -.-
