@CaptainCrules4life French society was full of secret societies, and conspiracy was a huge part of the revolution. It was what fuelled the Reign of Terror. It doesn't take long to recognize the discrepancies in World News pre-1789 and The record of history ENFORCED by Napoleon Bonaparte. In time all text books adopted the Napoleonic version of history, after France settled into it as their own. But in no way is it accurate. It was self-serving in attempts to justify his actions and conceal conflicting truths. Not to mention telling outright lies. The Reign Of Terror was named such, because the "national assembly" reigned over France as terrorists.
Tabloids and propaganda exaggerated conditions as well as lied. It's not true that the people were suffering for years with calls unheard. Robespierre tried to justify the "Terror" by calling it a "revolution", and lying about everything.
@StarQualityWins Further, the king and queen were no angels either. They did not deserve to die, yes, but their indifference to the cries of the poor and panicked went unheeded for too long, and the old ways of putting down opposition would no longer work. Madame du Barry was famous for asking for a little more time alive...when she herself forgot where she came from and drowned herself in jewels while so many lived lives of deprivation.
*facepalm* StarQualityWins made over 20+ accounts just to vote bot his own alternate-history comments. Hey selecto16, aren't you mad people take the liberty to revise history? WTF.
The fucking internet is going to ruin history god damn it. We can't let these fuckers revise history just because it doesn't fit their ideology.
200 years from now they'd say 9/11 never happened and that it was just a movie made with CGI on someone's cheap laptop, not real footage. Ugh.
@SheBlindedMeWScience StarQualityWins has only 2 accounts, and revises nothing. 9/11 really did happen I was visiting there. There was National Pride for about 4 months, volunteers helped out, similar to the 1960's. Then Bush turned into a Warlord and the "Easy Rider" vibe was thrown out the window.
@StarQualityWins One problem with your theory: why, years later, when they located the grave of the French royal family, did they find the bones within French borders? Wouldn't that be impossible if they made it to Salzburg?
And if they truly escaped to Austria, then why were the remains of the Dauphin found in France a few years ago, an exact DNA match to Marie Therese (his sister, who survived and went to England) and his mother (a lock of whose hair was in a museum?)
@shadowkitty56 There was a proper burial for Louis and Marie after Louis XVI passed away in 1815. Marie had passed away in 1810. They were not executed, they made it out of France rather easily, as Robespierre was not feared. Marie's Remains are in Austria. One theory is that they truly did bury the remains of Louis XVI at St. Denis. Another theory is Luxembourg. Napoleon claimed that "the people" did barbaric things. In truth they did not. The only violence exhibited was in fighting the Terror.
@StarQualityWins None of that happened. Louis XVI was executed and after that, so was Marie Antoinette. Where do you get your info from? I study revolutions.
@StarQualityWins I should also add that this was the French Revolution: ANYONE was lucky to survive. They executed the king, yes, but they also murdered his son; he was just a child and they stuck him like a pig. Just a boy. Stripping him of his title and letting him go live with his aunt in Italy would have been the kind thing to do, and building a nation in the meantime so he could make no claim upon it as an adult would be the smart thing to do. Robespierre did neither. Took the easy way.
@StarQualityWins You left your own deleted comments still standing with lots of thumbs up. What happened? realized you were supposed to have them posted under a different name? Clicked the vote bot too fast before you realized that? Aww. "oh no no, Star don't do that, no no, Star has two accounts only" LOL
It seems you've been spamming this video with your conspiracy theories for over a year now. Time you could've used to write a romance novel or something, you pathetic obsessive lonely loser.
@CharmingTenshi There is evidence that she did not die of execution. The tabloid propaganda was akin to salem witch-hunt hysteria. Hysteria is irrational and leaves much margin for error. There is no evidence that Marie was guilty of anything. I believe she was innocent. I think had she stayed in Austria, she would have been known for the bright girl she actually was, rather than victim to slander.
Le Boeuf became famous for a lie; He never captured Marie Antoinette and family, they did indeed leave France successfully. The dictators calling themselves the leaders of a "revolution", had an m.o., even in later times via Napoleon, which was always to chase out Royalty, create hysteria, and propaganda full of barbaric lies to incite fear, in the places they were conquering. It never changed. Le Boeuf was part of the "new aristocracy" which made the old aristocracy seem like choir boys.
The French Revolution began w/ noble intentions for equality & liberty but spiraled out of control into mob rule & senseless violence. The Republic was short-lived and soon replaced w/ Napoleon's imperial rule.
It's ironic that the Revolution was made to bring peace and equality, when people were hacked to pieces and disemboweled just because of where they stood in society. Utter madness.
@utube2344 You mean, if the people were as pissed as these sketches, paintings and cartoons? Re-enacted dramatizations? Based SOLELY, not on the words of the PEOPLE, but on the words of 13 madmen: Robespierre and the 11 other members of the faux 'national assembly', and, Napoleon Bonaparte. They CONTROLLED the press. All was propaganda. You weren't there, so what makes you believe that the people were so angry? Where's true, unadultered evidence of that?
I didn't say anything to do with the royals. Sure aristocrats were dieing innocently as well, but members of the revolution were being eaten up by the thing they were supporting. Teenagers died for Christ's sake. There was so much life wasted. I don't respect the San Culottes, all they wanted was blood and war.
@utube2344 In Germany in the 1930s people were pissed at the Jews. Assumed guilt of an entire group of people leads to things like the Reign of Terror and the Holocaust.
@Tomohawwwk I did not say that Marie Antoinette was inventor of the newspaper. She wanted to publish a free weekly newsletter to inform the people of changes in France, and feedback from the public. FACT. She was tired of the tabloids, and wanted a direct newsline. She also knew that people were going to need to be kept abreast of the constitutional changes in France, as well as opportunities in French-American Territory.
That is so fucking bloody and terrible i feel bad for the king why the fuck did they have to inhumanely kill him they could have left him to live in a small hub for a house for the remainder of his life so freakin sad
@Angarwaen Until you know what you're talking about, truly, until you have gathered all genuine evidence, it is far from your place to decide who lives and who dies. "The others said...", and "Seems like..." and "My opinion is...", don't hold up in a Court of Law. For 220 years, thanks to the tabloid lies and spoken lies of Robespierre, Marat, Napoleon, we've had to live with false accusations and slander. History has been falsely recorded and cannot remain that way. The Truth forces its way up.
I believe you're extremely biased against the French in all ways (God only knows why) and it seems you've met your intellectual superior within Berrylaff; hats off to you my friend.
@Singeslayer1 Accepting that the people did not actually initiate a revolution, but instead, were used by Robespierre, Napoleon, etc, as a weapon, is harsh, but that's what happened. I have nothing at all against France. It's unfortunate that Napoleon polluted their senses, and made a tabloid of their recorded history.
People like Robespierre and Napoleon were nothing before the Revolution. Neither of them ordered the storming of the Bastille, or ordered the signing of the Tennis Court Oath. They arose FROM the Revolution While yes, Robespierre and Napoleon took advantage of the situation, you could argue they got it in the end.
In addition, while he did popularize himself during that period, ALL French officers did also; it was in vogue. Plus, historians have straightened it all out by now
@Singeslayer1 You joke? Robespierre incited this whole thing! Napoleon was 20 years old at the time, but didn't want to be visable until after the seige was a success. In 5 years time, Napoleon had France in the palm of his hand. Historians haven't gone anywhere near straightening this out. Like the host of this documentary, they try to relay the past matter-of-fact. Yet, Facts are what they lack. Napoleon's version of history has been permitted to be the one taught to students. It's unethical.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't what makes Napoleon Bonaparte "evil" is because of his conquests on other nations? Gen. Winter served him right when he tried to invade Russia.
@ixorafy The public was used for Napoleon's own personal gain. He used violent, brutal force to control. Manipulation and lies created the hysteria that would be called a "Revolution", which would become his vehicle to invade and conquer. The people of France didn't understand what was going on during the riots; No one knew what was happening. This is because there was no true communication of motives with the Court, only tabloids and speeches disguised as a class struggle. To incite blind fury
Evil is as evil does. Reporting the truth is not selecting a bias. The truth isn't always nice but the whole truth must always be what we record in historical records. The Monarchy did not rule with clergy. Marie Antoinette especially would have been against that. The faux "National Assembly" did not communicate with The Church or Royal Court. They lied, preaching hopeless despair w/out their guidance, and their "position" was an eminence front to fool, frighten, anger, thus utilize the poor.
If you lived fearfully under repressive monarchs, struggled to find your food and even survive... and then these new ideas come.... along with hope and knowledge that things can change... what would you do? You'd be a fool not to grasp these ideas and try and carry them out. People were desperate.
You make it sound like the people of Europe and France knew what was to come. They didn't. They didn't know the consequences of their actions until later.
Napoleon was not a loved man across most of Europe. He was an occupier, a foreigner who did not belong in Austria, Prussia and the Italian states. He was against any direct threat to his rule and was authoritarian. But since he flew the flag of the revolution and carried its legacy (which was one of the reasons he gained so much power), the ideas of the revolution was spread, even though he did not allow them to foster.
@StarQualityWins you know in your mindless gabble you've failed to cite even a shred of corroborating evidence to prove that your crackpot ideas are anything but the excrement of your clown like imagination. Go ahead: you can either chose to insult your detractors further and waste your life thumbing up your own comments or actually use some sort of PROOF in your discussions.
BY THE WAY THE COMPUTER IM USING IS FUCKED UP SO DONT COMMENT ON THE WEIRD SPELLINGS ....... I MEAN YOU KNO FOUR LANGUAGES IT WONT BE HARD FOR YOU :(} ^ ^ %$&*
@finalfrontier001 Actually three, English, Spanish, and German now you may think that there maybe four languages because of Spanglish the language that combines English and Spanish together to make a new language but actually when it was first developed in the early 1900s mainly in 1903 when the Americans had control of Panama. Not initially before the 1940s it was called Inglañol until Puerto Rican linguist Salvador Tió changed the language to Spanglish.
fucking basterd french peasants i whhish i could go back in time and nuke paris and man slaughter every single 3 class cant oh i whish i could ....if only and that basterd that did the newspaper omg would fuck him up like nuts i would treat him as if i was joseph fritzel ....lolol
@finalfrontier001 Sir they did not have the material to make a nuclear bomb during France in the late 1700s I am afraid your plan is a failure and I suggest you read more history.
@finalfrontier001 I can read perfectly in English, Spanish, and German you said you would go back in time and launch a Nuclear Weapon on Paris time travel has not been invented yet they did not have the material to make nuclear weapons in then late 1700s and I do not think you can get and maken one therefore your plan is a failure.
well you know peple like you is the whole reason the world is fucked up .... i mean seriously when i said i was going to nuke paris did i do you really think i meant that i wpuld make a nke in 17th century .....................NOOOOOOOO. YOU FUCKING DOUCHBAG SUCK ON SOME COMMEN SENSE BITCH I ALREADY HAVE ONE BY THE TIME IM THERE ....... I HATE PEOPLE THAT TRY O SOUND SMART AND SAY IM THIS IM THAT S IM I JUST FINNISHING MY A2 AT COLLEGE ...THEN KINGSTON UNIVERSITY .....BITCH !!!
Napoleon took credit for the newspaper idea as well. Believe it or not, Marie Antoinette herself wanted to commision a free newspaper with open communication between the people, and The Royal Court. Napoleon didn't do a damn thing, but try to enforce his rule. Since 1776, The Sovereign was already inspired by many new ideas. Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin were welcomed at Versailles. Once changes started to be implemented, Napoleon came along, taking all the credit.
shit, this whole revolution was fucked up. it was all for nothing. they killed their own guy robespierre! and for what? to have the bourbons back in power after Napoleon. they should have just stuck a gun in louis xvi's face and said we're going to have a constitutional monarchy whether you like it or not
Alan Woods sounds like a true Marxist terrorist. The massacre of women and children was justified because "if the foreign armies had linked up in Paris with these bitter enemies of the Revolution [the women and children in prison], then things would have been fairly horrific for the people", he sniffs.
Sounds like the guy would also approve of Stalin's terror, Mao's Cultural Revolution, and Pol Pot's Killing Fields.
1MagicAndMayhem1 .. you are right! They have succeeded defending royal family rights, but only in England!! French revolution proved that not even a king is safe when it comes to masses of 'pissed off' peasants & citizens..
Can u imagine how did British royal family feel at the time of French revolution, I bet ya they had shit their pants BiG time :-))
@akoje1 Those "ass kissers and their royal family" defeated this glorious bloody revolutionary government time and time again, both militarily and with principle
From example. They were shown up for the savage idealistic Hippocrates they were, If you don't like that, deal with it, its a historical fact
Not everyone who supported this "revolution" was as stupid as Marat though,
The french revolution sadly turned into a blood bath. It started with good and just ideas but finished into the "terreur". (terror). Like Danton said, the revolution ate its own children. There was no need of killing the king nor the queen. THey were victims of the ideas of revolt of the time. VIVE LA REPUBLIQUE et vive la France!
It's interesting to see how quick we are to condem others for living a life of luxury while others starve. Isn't this exactly what we do as we sit on YouTube while people around the world, or even across the street don't have enough to eat. What kind of hypocrites are we?
@LostSharingan damnnn!!!! WHAT A BUNEDD ENR DUDEEEE SERISLY IM LIKE WATCHING ALL THESE VIDS1 THROugh 9 and ppl are like FUCKIGN SADISTIC idk man cuz like im for the king and queen even though, you have to admit, that they treat there people like shit.
but it kind of sickens me to hear people on youtube saying shit like kill the kign yeah! and your comment just fucking bombed them, you caleld them mofo hypocrites for not helping arfricans, NICE ONE rep +1
@CaptainFluffy6644 just the fact that we have the privilege to use the internet, our computers... I'm sure that you had enough to eat this morning when you left for, work, school, a nap... who knows. Just the very idea that you have the opportunity to talk about this online means you have your more basic needs taken care of, while so many others around us don't. That's why I say we live a life of luxury, it's not a car, a big house... just the fact that we have so much more is luxurious
i know its pure evil and revenge there is no justist ....pure utter madness i dont know if should feel sorry for them anymore what they did is out of order arse raping any thing that they see or think is an advantage to them........................................... fucking basterds
Your majesty their are still Royalist's that support you and I hope that this world will see that you are not a bad person but someone who attempted to put right ot his country! the Repulbic lied for liberty of man and freedom and equality and this is the reason why democracy is a wrong system. God damn democracy!
Damn right he should die, too bad the retarded motherfuckers didn't finish it BEFORE he could have the chance to try to escape out of the country. The man lived luxurious while the people where starving. Nuf' said.
@selecto16 so what? There is still opinions about it to be expressed. Besides monarchy STILL lives on, in some countries not just constitutional, but in the real sense of ruling. I hope that they will be put to death when the people feel that enough is enough!
@bosnia91 Lol then you Sir are just an the same as the ungrateful swines that wanted him dead I only he did not die France would probably be powerful now as it was powerful before the problem's started
@Britishguy18 ....you fkn dickless twit...stop bending over and pull your pants up....the parasitic scumbag closet jew criminal in cohorts with the Rothschild zionnazi scum queen bitch need to be killed for thier drug dealing, eugenics, murdering(they killed diana) 'if i die i d like to come back as a deadly virus to contribute something to the overpopulation problem!'-prince philipe...he wants you dead...FUCK THAT PIG QUEEN AND HER SICK PARASITIC SPAWN!
@treon123456 umm sorry I didnt catch any of that, if you want an arguement please speak English....all i head was Logical fallacies but I tell you her Majesty and even his Majesty did not deserve what happened to them.
absolutly disgusting what these revolutionist dog's did how can you kill all the aristocractes when they have done nothing but try to help them by calling the assembly, and you Sir are one of them pig's who know nothing!
@Britishguy18 they were forced to comply, before that they didn't do shit (while living luxuriously) and the people where starving. Wish you where there, i doubt you would have liked these immoral pigs to live on you're back like some kind of fucking leechers. May the heads of the fucking monarks still roll!
@bosnia91 retard you dont knwo anything about the revolution, are u even french? At that time the king didn't knew how bad the people were living, as you know he was living 20 km outside of paris which was at the time a very long distance. He only knew that something was wrong but not that all paris was starving. The king was sentenced to death with only one vote of difference, the one of its one cousin. And it is not by spelling blood all over the place that you will resolve problemes.
@iceman0044fr it's too bad you wasn't there to starve yourself, then it would be less ridiculous. These people acted as if whole countries where theirs to be used, just who the fuck do they think they are?
@bosnia91 He just wasn't made to be king, plus people have been doing that for ages before him its just he came to a bad time and made wrong decisions. Try to feel empathy for both sides somehow no matter how wrong you think theyw were
@274blake i won't feel no empathy, these fucking people are the most worthless pieces of shit you can imagine. For centuries they have been living luxurious with their rich fucking families and ancestors. When it came to a war, ofcourse they never went, then the poor people could be used. This people should end up like Mussolini did when his people had enough, hanging upside down with half of face smashed in.
@xhappyxlifex I'm glad you do. People who like monarchies should be transported back to the time and get a little well-deserved oppression. Maybe they would change their minds after working hard but getting nothing while some fat bastard in a castle lives like some kind off god.
@bosnia91 Napoleon was the supreme epitomy of a fat Emperor bastard. He didn't save France, he took credit for the returns from what the King and Queen HAD done, to make "nice" while he raped the World. Blaming the King and Queen via the Napoleon-enforced view of history, is asinine. There were poor people who'd screwed up, with only themselves to blame that took advantage of the circumstance. Crop failure created a hardship. The sovereign were working on it. I detest those who justify ugliness.
@StarQualityWins you really need to learn more history. the king and queen had palaces, lived in extreme wealth and excess while france was bankrupt and frequentely sufferered famines and poverty due to bad managment by the nobility. the nobility also forced people to war often, yet paid no taxes and gave people no rights. they ruled an absolute dictatorship while other nations were moving towards republics or constitutional monarchy's.
@SocialistJustice Actually, France was managed quite well. The wars, I don't like and avoiding them would be better. But Crop Failures caused the "Bread Shortage", not Nobility Management. Farmers experimented with a new fertilizer, and needed to rotate the crops. The result, learned the hard way, was depleated soil. This needed time to remedy. France, was rather enlightened in many ways. A Sovereign, yes; Absolute Dictatorship: Not at all! In fact Louis was accused of not being more aggressive.
@StarQualityWins it was bankrupt and had constant riots so it was not well managed and also louis had absolute political power therefore it was an absolute dictatorship. he could ignore, dissolve, arrest ect parliment whenever he wanted.
@SocialistJustice Robespierre lied to the people, claiming poor management. The financial situation was projected to bounce back due to gains and returns from the American Revolution. Riots were incited by Robespierre, not initiated by the people themselves. It was one huge snow-job at the hand of Robespierre & Co. As I stated below, Nobility held zero blame in the error of the Farmers. No one ever addressed the Royal Court. Robespierre, in fact served as barricade for it was his plan to seize.
@StarQualityWins Robespierre was but one man in a nationwide revolution against aristocratic tyranny and feudalism. farmers struggling to work their land and paying huge taxes to a decadant nobility are not responsible for the frequent famines france suffered. the people of the time, their actions and every credible historian totally refutes your laughable statements
@SocialistJustice You won't even investigate what I've said? I agree that Monarchies in general were based on a diminishing system where leaders needed the power of absolutism to reassure the people. However Marie Antoinette believed in much of George Washington's principles and Louis XVI was shifting everything with the help of Parliament, toward Constitutional Monarchy, embracing Democratic changes as stated. Robespierre was part of an internal take-over plot that isolated and used the people.
@StarQualityWins You are the agitator, you have to prove yourself. Moreover, you need to do better than direct me towards obscure non-events that need to be uncovered by invoking legislation. If your BS is supposed to be as obvious as you say then why should I need to resort to such a wild goose chase? So far it seems that you're the only goose around here. If however you have the sources yourself, I'm more than happy to receive them.
@StarQualityWins By "raping" the world as you biasedly put it, Napoleon also spread the Napoleonic Code or Code Civil which promoted liberty. The Napoleonic Code gave the people of Prussia, Austria and the fragmented Italian states hope. Hope to overthrow brutal authoritarian monarchies.
When Napoleon was defeated, the old rigid rulers returned in Europe and imposed their strict repressive laws but too late. The people knew that they deserved more. They got this from the Napoleonic Code.
@StarQualityWins With Napoleon's occupation rule, roads were built and lampposts were erected, political parties created and strengthened all across Europe.
Suddenly, monarchies had to give concessions... to the people. A limited democracy. It wasn't enough. People had tasted liberty and they wanted more. Napoleon inadvertedly helped spread democracy, freedom of expression, all the things we glorify under the name of Western values. Things that had been held down for centuries by the monarchs.
@StarQualityWins With the code, Napoleon had created ideas in peoples minds. Ideas that could not be destroyed by any monarch. The mind belong to the individual. The monarchs could clamp down on democracy all they wanted, the people still knew that the grass had been greener and could become green again.
This realisation along with the general courage to rise up and the monarchs being shaken by Napoleon and the revolution led eventually to the unifications of Italy and Germany.
@StarQualityWins By looking at your rabid anti-Napoleonic arguments, I'd say you have limited understanding of history and the mentality of people of the past. Liberty was a beautiful "new" idea back then. It's not the liberty you and I take for granted. You think people back then just sat around, thinking "well, eventually the monarch is gonna leave and well gain liberty peacefull"? No! They did not know the future. For all they knew the monarchs could sit for all eternity.
Like if youre going to royal. hs. and if youre not going to watch the next three because thats all that is needed

@annie10103 if people were this pissed at these "royal" types they must have not been innocent.
utube2344 7 months ago
@utube2344 You mean, if the people were as pissed as these sketches, paintings and cartoons? Re-enacted dramatizations? Based SOLELY, not on the words of the PEOPLE, but on the words of 13 madmen: Robespierre and the 11 other members of the faux 'national assembly', and, Napoleon Bonaparte. They CONTROLLED the press. All was propaganda. You weren't there, so what makes you believe that the people were so angry? Where's true, unadultered evidence of that?
StarQualityWins 7 months ago 4
@utube2344
I didn't say anything to do with the royals. Sure aristocrats were dieing innocently as well, but members of the revolution were being eaten up by the thing they were supporting. Teenagers died for Christ's sake. There was so much life wasted. I don't respect the San Culottes, all they wanted was blood and war.
annie10103 7 months ago

StarQualityWins 11 months ago 28
@StarQualityWins
Plus, historians have straightened it all out by now
Singeslayer1 11 months ago

@Singeslayer1 You joke? Robespierre incited this whole thing! Napoleon was 20 years old at the time, but didn't want to be visable until after the seige was a success. In 5 years time, Napoleon had France in the palm of his hand. Historians haven't gone anywhere near straightening this out. Like the host of this documentary, they try to relay the past matter-of-fact. Yet, Facts are what they lack. Napoleon's version of history has been permitted to be the one taught to students. It's unethical.
StarQualityWins 11 months ago 12
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't what makes Napoleon Bonaparte "evil" is because of his conquests on other nations? Gen. Winter served him right when he tried to invade Russia.
ixorafy 11 months ago

Berrylaff 1 year ago
Napoleon was not a loved man across most of Europe. He was an occupier, a foreigner who did not belong in Austria, Prussia and the Italian states. He was against any direct threat to his rule and was authoritarian. But since he flew the flag of the revolution and carried its legacy (which was one of the reasons he gained so much power), the ideas of the revolution was spread, even though he did not allow them to foster.
When he was gone, the ideas he spread remained.

Once changes started to be implemented, Napoleon came along, taking all the credit.

bosnia91 1 year ago
@bosnia91 Napoleon was the supreme epitomy of a fat Emperor bastard. He didn't save France, he took credit for the returns from what the King and Queen HAD done, to make "nice" while he raped the World. Blaming the King and Queen via the Napoleon-enforced view of history, is asinine. There were poor people who'd screwed up, with only themselves to blame that took advantage of the circumstance. Crop failure created a hardship. The sovereign were working on it. I detest those who justify ugliness.
StarQualityWins 1 year ago 29
@StarQualityWins you really need to learn more history. the king and queen had palaces, lived in extreme wealth and excess while france was bankrupt and frequentely sufferered famines and poverty due to bad managment by the nobility. the nobility also forced people to war often, yet paid no taxes and gave people no rights. they ruled an absolute dictatorship while other nations were moving towards republics or constitutional monarchy's.
SocialistJustice 1 year ago
@SocialistJustice Actually, France was managed quite well. The wars, I don't like and avoiding them would be better. But Crop Failures caused the "Bread Shortage", not Nobility Management. Farmers experimented with a new fertilizer, and needed to rotate the crops. The result, learned the hard way, was depleated soil. This needed time to remedy. France, was rather enlightened in many ways. A Sovereign, yes; Absolute Dictatorship: Not at all! In fact Louis was accused of not being more aggressive.
StarQualityWins 1 year ago 9
@StarQualityWins it was bankrupt and had constant riots so it was not well managed and also louis had absolute political power therefore it was an absolute dictatorship. he could ignore, dissolve, arrest ect parliment whenever he wanted.
SocialistJustice 1 year ago
@SocialistJustice Robespierre lied to the people, claiming poor management. The financial situation was projected to bounce back due to gains and returns from the American Revolution. Riots were incited by Robespierre, not initiated by the people themselves. It was one huge snow-job at the hand of Robespierre & Co. As I stated below, Nobility held zero blame in the error of the Farmers. No one ever addressed the Royal Court. Robespierre, in fact served as barricade for it was his plan to seize.
StarQualityWins 1 year ago 13
@StarQualityWins Robespierre was but one man in a nationwide revolution against aristocratic tyranny and feudalism. farmers struggling to work their land and paying huge taxes to a decadant nobility are not responsible for the frequent famines france suffered. the people of the time, their actions and every credible historian totally refutes your laughable statements
SocialistJustice 1 year ago
@SocialistJustice You won't even investigate what I've said? I agree that Monarchies in general were based on a diminishing system where leaders needed the power of absolutism to reassure the people. However Marie Antoinette believed in much of George Washington's principles and Louis XVI was shifting everything with the help of Parliament, toward Constitutional Monarchy, embracing Democratic changes as stated. Robespierre was part of an internal take-over plot that isolated and used the people.
StarQualityWins 1 year ago 4
@StarQualityWins You are the agitator, you have to prove yourself. Moreover, you need to do better than direct me towards obscure non-events that need to be uncovered by invoking legislation. If your BS is supposed to be as obvious as you say then why should I need to resort to such a wild goose chase? So far it seems that you're the only goose around here. If however you have the sources yourself, I'm more than happy to receive them.
yuggurtt 1 year ago
@StarQualityWins By "raping" the world as you biasedly put it, Napoleon also spread the Napoleonic Code or Code Civil which promoted liberty. The Napoleonic Code gave the people of Prussia, Austria and the fragmented Italian states hope. Hope to overthrow brutal authoritarian monarchies.
When Napoleon was defeated, the old rigid rulers returned in Europe and imposed their strict repressive laws but too late. The people knew that they deserved more. They got this from the Napoleonic Code.
Berrylaff 1 year ago
@StarQualityWins With Napoleon's occupation rule, roads were built and lampposts were erected, political parties created and strengthened all across Europe.
Suddenly, monarchies had to give concessions... to the people. A limited democracy. It wasn't enough. People had tasted liberty and they wanted more. Napoleon inadvertedly helped spread democracy, freedom of expression, all the things we glorify under the name of Western values. Things that had been held down for centuries by the monarchs.
Berrylaff 1 year ago
@StarQualityWins With the code, Napoleon had created ideas in peoples minds. Ideas that could not be destroyed by any monarch. The mind belong to the individual. The monarchs could clamp down on democracy all they wanted, the people still knew that the grass had been greener and could become green again.
This realisation along with the general courage to rise up and the monarchs being shaken by Napoleon and the revolution led eventually to the unifications of Italy and Germany.
Berrylaff 1 year ago
@StarQualityWins By looking at your rabid anti-Napoleonic arguments, I'd say you have limited understanding of history and the mentality of people of the past. Liberty was a beautiful "new" idea back then. It's not the liberty you and I take for granted. You think people back then just sat around, thinking "well, eventually the monarch is gonna leave and well gain liberty peacefull"? No! They did not know the future. For all they knew the monarchs could sit for all eternity.
Berrylaff
