Scott Mathews is a genius. Yoko Kanno is a genius. And I want more from them both. Is that too much to ask? Mathews' voice is just amazing, and Kanno's music is brilliant. Give. Me. MORE.
And THIS exact song is why I cherish Seals debut album so much. Its one of the few American albums containing songs of emotional majesty on such a raw and mature level I need.
@vergruizerful I know it's been 8 months since this comment but I couldn't agree more. In fact the first time I heard this OST I though Mr. Jones collaborated with Kanno on this; which wouldn't surprise me... and still I think it sounds a lot like a older Heathen-esque Bowie.
This song is hauntingly beautiful. It is poetically hurtful, yet encased in a hopefulness that explains our mortality. Each time I listen to it, I can only wonder how many people are truly touched by this tune because of it's ability to convey such strong and raw emotion.
No. That was sung by Steve Conte; another marvelous musician. I've noticed that Yoko Kanno used Steve Conte, Ilaria Graziano, and Gabriela Robin, for both GiTS and Wolf's Rain. Scott Matthews was only featured on GiTS OSTs. He sang a few songs, including "Beauty is Within Us", "Lithium Flower", and "The End of All You Know."
I love her compositions and arrangements, and her choices of singers. Gabriela is really great. since i love her so much i really should do more research and learn more about her and her crew. thanks for your info
Several times I've come across people on the Web speculating that Gabriela Robin might be a pseudonym for Kanno Yoko herself. It's an interesting idea but I can't think why Kanno would want to use a pseudonym if she sang...

There's just something about Kanno's music, regardless of the genre or who's singing it, that just speaks to my soul. Pure Awesomeness!!!
