@slickwilly213 theres lots man.. you jsut have to look away from the mainstream and you'll see taht these artists are getting a lot of notice these days
Macklemore came to my highschool in seattle washington. He came to talk to kids in our truancy club and he told us his life story. He cares about the youth of the next generation and even though Lil Wayne is his favorite, he supports none of the stupid shit Lil Wayne "sings" about. this is rap. this is inspiration. this is the reason for teens to get up in the morning and say "fuck what i was given. Im going to go out today and make this world better." Lil Wayne couldnt care less about truancy.
want to hear some real hip-hop? Check out Hopsin, hes dooope!!! hip-hop artist..not rapper. check out ill mind of hopsin, nocturnal rainbows, or sag my pants.. all of which are great!
@MrAlreadyGotThose I really like what you're trying to say here but actually rap is more poetic than hip hop. Also hip hop has more of a lifestyle attached to it that dates back to the 90's when there were mad graffiti artists and b-boys. This is what I would call rapping cause Macklemore just empties his thoughts here with no beat and no references to mainstream topics. It's a pretty fine line though and I could be wrong.
So much emotions shown through this song omg. Macklemore, your more then just an artist. Keep up what your doing cause its dope. Maybe, one day you'll change the ways of hip hop and rap, your already on a great rode.
How can you compare this to mos def, Talib kweli (Blackstar), rakim, biggie, slick Rick and of all people big l. All big l talks about is killing people and " fucking chicks in the ass since I was 6 and half" lol no comparison
this is what all rap should be. he uses his power through expressions, lyrics, tempo, and tone. not through producing and beats. his words and his feelings are real, just by listening you know. this gives me chills.
This song gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it - especially when I listen to this slowed-down acapella version. Macklemore is an incredible lyricist.
I love how when macklemore raps, you know its coming from him, and that it could only come from him. He is deep, and uses his lyrics to express who he is and not someone he is trying to be...He truly has been an inspiration to me as I attempt to rap. I'd love it if you all gave me a listen, it would mean a lot. Check out my channel! all feedback welcome!
@amberlikes2drink yeah i can understand where you get your username from because drunkness is the ONLY fuckin way you could ever compare shithead "novi novak" to eminem, let alone macklemore. they shouldn't even be in the same sentence together.
@amberlikes2drink you're wack, go drink some more and then go to AA, Macklemore is not the best white rapper but he is among the best whit Eydeea, Vinnie Paz, Sadistik, Slug, Brother Ali, etc. FUCK Novi Novak
This is Hip-hop... Many people confuse rap and hip-hop... Rap is the shit that Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane, Lil' Wayne are spitting; stuff with no reason, no purpose, but to make money... Birdman said HIMSELF in an interview "Fuck hip-hop, I just make money"... It's terrible that this is the bullshit we play on the radio... Hip-hop, well if you're watching this video you know what hip-hop is... Live long Macklemore and so many others like him... Purely wonderful, even though the message hurts
@MrAlreadyGotThose hip-hop is a culture that that is made of up multiple elements bro, and RAPPING is a part of the hip-hop culture, you can't say they are different.
Do you seriously not know the difference between rap and hip-hop? Hip-hop is a genre of music. Tupac, Guru, Eminem, Macklemore, and unfortunately Soulja Boy all sing hip-hop. Rap on the other hand is the act of rhyming lyrics to a beat, and has been around for hundreds of years. Rap is a verb. Hip-hop is a genre that involves rapping.
@MrAlreadyGotThose what those guys do is not rap haha! its not hip hop either, it is just trash, commercialized bullshit, calling gucci mane and lil wayne rappers is a compliment. big daddy kane is a rapper. slick rick, big l, tech9ne, B.I.G, talib kweli mos def, 2pac and the one and only RAKIM. they are rappers. but nas was wrong. hip hop aint dead. macklemore aint doing it big, but he doing it real.
@MrAlreadyGotThose I agree with all of those people except for lil wayne. everyone raps about the same shit, and lil wayne raps about that shit too but he also raps about shit that is important to him and that touches his life, i like people like macklemore better but im just saying you cant hate on them all because they do push for what they beleive in occasionally.
@13marzyboi agreed. lil wayne puts out garbage these days but a lot of people don't know that he used to be pretty raw. go back to carter I and II for example. i even liked carter III but it just didn't have the same feel.
@MrAlreadyGotThose sorry for responding to a 4month old comment, but I'm just wondering, would saying "macklemore raps about real stuff" be correct. I'm talking about the "raps" part..
@MrAlreadyGotThose actually this is rap. its a genre of music... just cuase there are alot of shitty rappers doesnt make this a different genre just cause its good
@MinneSneauxta when he said "cheatin' and lyin', friendship cease, no peace in the mind" i got a chill that went allll the way down my back. His lyrics could move a stone cold boulder.
This is amazing.. overly amazing.
