the way i see it there are certain words that are historically profound in ethnic cultures. somewhere sometime ago people made these words up as an attempt to oppress an entire race. the way i see it there are certain words that are historically profound in ethnic cultures. somewhere sometime ago people made these words up as an attempt to oppress an entire race. Such words include nigger, chink, etc. People within those ethnicities today use them as an attempt to "shake it off" so it isn't offensive anymore. That or they're culturally ignorant and insensitive. These people are trying to deal with living in america as minorities.

That's true, but particularly with the use of the word nigger, that word had become almost powerless and was rarely used at one point and then it was decided by some influential black people that they would 'reclaim it' thus bringing the word back into the mainstream. my point is that racism is going (has gone in many areas) away but these words used to 'make a stand ' perpetuate segregation by drawing attention to an issue we're getting over.

To "shake it off", to insult another, etc. However, in my opinion, these words only exists because of who they are as people in this society and what their ancestors were: black. Don't get me wrong, a person is much more than their race, but race in some ways are an important part of their lives. So let them experiment with it. Let them be angry about it, become desensitized, to become free from it, or whatever.

If that reality is 'racist' to some, they need to educate themselve on the truths of the situation instead of immediately applying an ignorant label upon an individual for simply mocking another's actions. I dont think whites should be asked to forfiet anything so that blacks can catch up; if thats even possible.

this is true, however. to the average white person in america... that is not something they comprehend. all they see is that in their own lil world, other people can mock them , and the second they say something back, they'll be pushed around left right and centre. almost to the point where its hard to be proud of being white because its as if we mention anything, it'll be offensive to other races. sorta like if you were to be gay and proud of it, in the christian america.

This is probably in many cases an issue of culture not color. it just so happens that the current "cool culture" is the one that is being marketed. Most people feel the need to be part of something. in the 60's it was hippies, Look at the 80's kids wanted to be a long haired rockers, the 90's kids wanted to be "flock of seagulls" now kids wants to be a gangster.
Give it a little time. when the next phase comes around many will change their ways and become what ever is next.

KlicerXx you were never enslaved, nor did I ever enslave you. You haven't gone though being "tortured" like you claim. Slavery abuse is also overstated. I'm sure there were many cases of horrible abuse during the era, but in general slaves were treated well. Inflation adjusted a slave cost the same as a Cadillac. Would you beat your caddy?
