If I remember correctly, juan actually got this track from a street band in new york. He recorded them himself and used it for this performance. I was there in miami when he did this performance.
I know Juan Matos is a good dancer, but the video came out choppy. I don't think there were enough frames per second to capture the motion. It takes close to 30 frames per second when there is a lot of action in the scene. This looked like only 5 or 10 frames per second.
I think it's not just this video - it is the medium in general. When you see something live, and then on video, you realize that there is a whole dimension the video does not capture. Certain kinds of performances that hinge a lot on passion from within and subtle body language cannot be reproduced on this kind of video quality, or even in general, I think.
