@PSspecialist movies (each about 2gb-3gb), game installs (rockstar games have a shit load of install and if you have gran turismo 5 you'll need about a whopping 8gb if you want the game to load faster). downloadable games. the possibilities are endless.

Does this work on the PS3 slim? Where do I get the the hard drives? Also the back up thing? I can't download Tom Clancy rainbow 6 vegas 2 (It was for free for PS plus members) and it keeps saying I don't have enough space for my hard disk because I turned off the PS3 and it won't so I have to pull the plug of the PS3 and when I turned it back on it said I lost 500mb.

@MrGreenLungs123 When you have larger amounts of memory available you tend to use up space much more quickly, i have 120GB xbox 360 elite and have only 62GB left. although I only use 2 or 3 GB for important things like game save files and dlc, I have taken the liberty of at least 20GB to copy games like Halo to my hard drive.

The basic idea is with more memory you have more freedom, there is no compromise of deleting 6 gigabyte games because you can keep it all. but yeah 500gb is a little crazy.

@MrGreenLungs123 Well over the course of 5 years I have actually surpassed the 400GB mark in usage of my ps3 with games (some games take upwards of 6GB mandatory install such as Deus Ex), movies, music, etc I have downloaded therefore I WAS using an external hard drive formatted fat32 to hold extra data until now. Samsung released a 1TB internal HDD which I installed to my PS3 :D

@armkenz1 Yeah, but you can only switch your Xbox 360's HDD with the Premade Microsoft HDD's. With PS3 you can use any type of laptop HDD you want! Personally I find that more convenient, since they're available everywhere! Plus, Xbox 360's HDD only can go up to 250GB, while laptop HDD's can go up to 2 terabyte and more!

@Gamervushaj62096 You can replace a 360 hard drive, but you cannot use any laptop hard drive. You have to buy a proprietary hard disk drive made specifically for the Xbox 360. The good news is the process is as simple as transferring the content from the old drive to the new one using a transfer cable and simply swapping the two drives.

no, the slim version of most consoles don't have lots of functions the first version don't have but not always. The slim is really not as good tho... The only slim that comes to mind that's actually better is the DS light.. but then they messed that up with the DSi lol
