This song fits Motoko kusanagi & Batou perfectly. 2 epic characters equals a very Epic theme. Thus Torukia comes in. I can never get enough of this song. Especially when Motoko, saito and batou are gearin toward the helicopter and take off without bein seen. Thats what made this theme worth listenin to. I repeated that scene constantly because of this theme. Never knew the name of it until yesterday. :)
In the land of "Torukia" Words fall to become the sand Did you see the sea? Did you see the sea? Guided by the waterway of thought A proud spirit walks a proud road A humble sprit walks a humble road And between the two The fog breaks over the flat land And a song that cannot be heard dries out those two spirits In the land of "Torukia" Words fall to become the sands
Arent those the 3 main characters/protoganists?I seem to notice that Bato,Kusanagi, and Togusa are seen more than any other Section 9 oprative.Their all my favorits so if not oh well!
These lyrics, like several other of yokka kinno's pieces for gits are being sung in several different languages including English, Japanese, and Russian.
The title is "Torukia," not "Turkey." So Yoko Kanno didn't mean the country. I looked at the lyrics and, besides the parts in other languages that I couldn't understand, they didn't have anything to do with Turkey.
Torukia is a very odd word. It doesn't come up in any dictionary or language database I can access, so it may be a slang or colloquial term.
Turkey has a few different names in Japanese, but the closest one to this name would be "Toruko". In answer to baharrrr, Turk would be Toruko-jin (person from Turkey).
Toruko could also refer to the colour turquoise.
It is possible "Torukia" is the name of the future Turkish region in the GITS universe.
After a bit of further checking I think I have found the answer.
I am assuming that this song (like several other GITS SAC songs) is being sung in Russian. I believe the Russian word for Turkey can be romanised as "Tortsia" (forgive me if I have that wrong, my Russian is a little vague).
I would guess that Torukia isn't a real Japanese word but is an adaptation of the Russian word into Japanese syllables for the purpose of the lyrics.
but what does turkey have to do with anything? well i don't speak russian or japanese so i don't know anything, but when listening to the song, it doesn't sound to me like they are reffering to turkey at all
@MurasakiNoKanja actually i believe the song is sung in the language Yoko Kanno created (Gablish i think it's called) which has been used in a lot of Yoko Kanno/Gabriela Robin's songs from various anime (such as Sora from Escaflowne).
Well in the main isnt really important , the series kinda concentrates around everyone in the team. Certain eps will concentrate around a certain member, for exemple in season 2 when Saito tell his story too rookies while playing poker to how he met the Major etc. They all have their lil-moments.
There is a main villain, but i wouldnt call them villains. There are several side villains, but the series is all exiting .. ifyou do love this kinda series, personnaly its my top 5 gits unaverse. If you watch them all carefully, youll know what i mean when I say *Not really villains. the main base.* Anyways, great series, great actions, great persoz and good storie.
Yup, most side villains to me. There's a lot of Anti-heros who are made out to be the main villain throughout the series but then the twists are always at the end when it turns out that they're the good guys and there's a different "bad guy".
Awesome song, i would say the best in th first SAC along with Cyberbird or Stamina rose. They reflect perfectly the cyberpunk culture, eventhough the true cyberpunk master pice is still the first GITS movie.
thanks, i will have to get it eventually. By the way, the first GITS movie was on the Scifi channel last night. i stayed up for most of it but fell asleep just before (spoilers!!!) she merged consciousnesses with the Puppet Master.
LOOOOOOOVE IT

I think Torukia means 'Turkey', the country, in Japanese. Can't be 100% sure, though. But I know that 'Toruko' means Turk.

Is there a main bad guy. I've watched some of the series, but I got bored waiting for a main villian
ob1benji1 2 years ago
There is never a main villain, usually is some sort of conspiracy involving hackers or AI program that becomes self aware.

I must being thinking of one of the movies then

No, there are no lone consonants in Japanese other that "n".

"U" sounds in Japanese are sometimes silent (or nearly silent), so while it is spelled Torukia you may have heard someone say Torkia. :)

Yoko Kanno is Gabriela Robin. there is far too much confusion surrounding the issue for her not to be.

Gabriela Robin is the vocalist, she does the singing here whereas Yoko Kanno is the composer who wrote the music for this masterpiece

StrayWhiteWolf 4 years ago
I can't remember the episode name, but it begins with Motoko sneaking into the CIS offices (I think) and having that really long talk with Gohda.
Although if you want to be technical, the general theme is played in episode 24 of the first season of SAC.
