  • I'm a student and I'm angry Henry. In fact I'm pissed. Complacency and apathy among my own generation disgust me. Thanks for being one of the few voices to call it out.

  • fantastic!!

  • It's insane how Samuel can go from telling these deep, scary-as-shit stories, to shaking Henry's hand at the end in a way that just lets you know he's the coolest dude ever.

  • IFC needs to be on basic cable!

  • In its totality, this interview makes for a good wake up call to mid-adolescent youths otherwise unaware of recent modern history. (Never forget the kid who asked, when his teacher spoke about World War 2, quite astutely so, "That means there was a World War 1 doesn't it?" shall I.)

  • Henry sits on the edge of the sofa and is totally engaged in the conversation.Noone does that like he does.He forces the interviewee to think and give there actual response

  • Henry sits on the edge of the sofa and is totally engaged in the conversation.Noone does that like he does

  • Henry Rollins just impressed the shit out of me.

  • This interview was very well done. IFC has to bring it back and make more.

  • this interview is AMAZING....i love sam jackson and i've never heard any of this stuff. fascinating point of view.

  • Samuel L. Jackson is a cool dude.

  • it's really nice to see an interview with a movie star that almost didn't have a single mention of any movie... other than in the introduction.

    really nice. =^_^=

  • @TheSuperWannabe

In what way? You're what's wrong with america. Must be a nice feeling to be a tough guy on the other end of that modem

  • @frizankrizizzo because of his slowly progressed use of ebonics in his speech... you don't know anything about me. so what if I made a racial comment? I do it all the time for every race. and yes, I'm sorry my fist can't reach your face over the internet, but god I wish it were so.

  • @TheSuperWannabe See that's exactly the problem, "every race" - buddy there's only ONE race: the human race! Get it straight or get the fuck out

    -nuff said

  • @BernietheShredder haha omg! hippie bullshit. there are different types of people like there are different types of cats and different types of dogs and different types of sodas. dr.pepper and sprite are NOT one and the same. get over your hipster ego and go stick your tiny dick in a meat grinder already.

  • @TheSuperWannabe Different types of cats are STILL cats, and accordingly with sodas - it's just that simple. Different varieties don't mean mutual exclusivity; if you can't see that then you're quite simply a racist. Preference means prejudice, and in the case of people, prejudice leads to racism. This has NOTHING to do with being a hippie, hipster, or having a tiny dick - which begs the question: why are you even mentioning pointless suppositions like that? Says more about you I think...

  • @BernietheShredder omg. I'm not prejudice or racist. different people have different cultures. if you can't see that because of your retarded hippie thinking, then you are a hippie-hipster with tiny dick and an even tinier brain.

  • @TheSuperWannabe Funny, I thought Anthropology was the study of human beings and culture...after all that IS what I'm working towards getting a Masters Degree in...but anyhow, using colloquial terms such as 'nigger' imply a negative connotation due the historical context we now have behind that word - which inherently implies racism. There's nothing wrong with discerning different cultures from another - to be human is to have culture after all. Thing is, using that word doesn't refer to culture

  • @TheSuperWannabe ...what it implies is that you're using a word laced with centuries of hate behind it. You have to understand, whether or not you used that word with a negative connotation intended, it's always gonna be perceived as such. Walk up to an Africa American and call him a 'nigger' like you so unabashedly posted here and see how fast you get negative vibes from people around you for uttering racial slurs. I mean no disrespect, so childish name-calling just makes me laugh.

  • @frizankrizizzo hahaha, well the fact you felt the need to threaten me over the internet proves my point. I was saying your being a tough guy in the sense you felt the need to insult the man without a real point....which you still haven't made. I do know you believe it or not. Someone doesn' t have the same opinion as you and happens to use slang so hes a "nigger" makes a lot of sense now. How could I have missed that. OBVIOUSLY he's a nigger.

Just curious how many movies have you been in?

  • It's depressing there are so few views of this interview, especially when compared to X-Factor, Beiber or other such vomit.

  • Holy crap. I thought this was going to be just some walk in the park interview where Samuel talks about his work and what he's doing today. Then we get into all this amazing stuff about his past. Wow! I'm glued to the screen. I mean I knew Samuel L. Jackson was a bad mother fucker, but gad damn.

  • 3.37 - Serious face is serious!

  • How many shows did he do?

  • Awesome, awesome, awesome.

  • One of the most fascinating interview's ever. All three parts...

  • Great, wow

  • Good stuff from both men.

  • wow. powerful stuff... sam speaks the truth...

  • Great interview.Henry was knowledgaeble and ingratiating with his guest as always.Oh and Sam L. is the business.Great to see this side to an actor.

  • I really like that ending statement.

  • So true every word just take that info and stand up. Make your future.

  • Samuel Jackson is THE MAN!

  • Real questions...real interview. Great viewing.

One of the best parts has to be Jackson saying "...and what we care about is how Paris Hilton got home.......!"

  • great interview.

  • before i watched this interview, my perception of Jackson was derived from Pulp Fiction, Deep Blue Sea, Snakes on a Plane, and all the parodies that Dave Chappelle did. Henry Rollins did an AMAZING job to shatter that perception and gave Jackson an intelligence, in my eyes, equal to that of anyone i can think of. incredible interview.

  • henry rollins is amazing, this was a beautiful interview. there is no threat to our quality of life, every fucking idiot is worried about celebrities and money...the world is coming to an end. and nobody cares...

  • people are scared to face their soul. So they watch tv go to their jobs and spend there money on useless things. i would say the world is ready to fucking IMPLODE. I think something is going to happen that will force them to change themselves. while people like you and i sit back and wait.

  • Samuel Jackson is a genius. One of the most brilliant actors of all time.

  • And a very intelligent individual

  • man.. that was a great interview!

  • That was cool as shit.

  • Awesome interview. That's the way it should be; natural...just a couple people sitting around talking about some really interesting stuff. Well done!

  • That interview could go waaaay longer and still be interesting.

  • Definitely One Of The Realest Samuel Jackson one of my fav actors of all time

  • love this ineterview, just great. Grande Samuel L. Jackson

  • this is more like a casual chat than an interview, and that's what makes it so fantastic and engaging. thanks for putting this up

  • the last three minutes are pure gold. thank you, samuel

  • For me, the greatest thing about this interview is the destruction of two stereotypes. Great stuff.

  • I think the interview was really artfully constructed in that way. Who would have thought Henry would make such a savvy interviewer?

  • yeah, usually when ppl think of henry, they imagine him yelling into a mic or throwing things around...

  • Great interview. I have a lot more respect for Jackson now, having seen more of his intellectual side and activism. He seems to be a real guy, and not just some pretentious, pompous actor.

  • Fantastic interview.

  • Jackson is right, the middle class has disappeared. It's the haves vs. the credit card debt havers.

  • i never knew henry was so good at interviews

  • absolutley amazing, Henry should be nominated ,if not given an award for his interviewing prowess.

  • @werdzrweapons I was gonna say the same thing. He is a fantastic interviewer!

  • An absolutely fascinating interview! Thanks so much for posting this.

  • great interview now thats what i call an interview great stuff sam and henry said.

  • I would give my right arm to have a drink with Samuel L. Jackson. He's a charming, intelligent and facinating guy. As a Nationalist from Northern Ireland, I feel we would have many stories to compare.

  • thats why he's one bad mother...shut yo mouth

    no seriously great interview

  • Notice how this conversation deviate from his current film to henry rollin's political agenda : ) Your tropic thunder and Iron man interviews will turn into hardtalk

  • I think Samuel L Jackson's activist history was more interesting than the usual talk about his movies.

  • Sam is so honest and just a all around cool dude

  • I have alot more respect for Sam now after watching this. Both these guys are good men.

  • WOW! I am a part of the generation of which he speaks and he is so clear as to what it was like to grow up in those turbulent times. I got tear gassed and hustled by cops just because I was a part of a peaceful demonstration. Cops didn't care-just point and shoot. He is telling it like it was and it wasn't pretty!! Thank you both for teaching this generation what it was like back then. Plus, I love Samuel Jackson so peace out both of you!

  • mind blowing interview... Samuel L is tuned in...

  • Great interview.

  • A very interesting interview, especially because Samuel doesn't have any restrictions on what he wants to talk about.

  • samuel l jackson seems like a really cool guy.

  • Nice! NEVER GONNA SEE THIS SHIT ON LENO. THATS WHY HANK IS THE MAN!

  • totally

  • @GrimTrekkie Hank?

Henry Roliins is the best interviewer on TV. His show is top of the interview shows.

  • Love Sam,a real man.

  • Kids today don't say or do shit about anything until it affects THEM and THEIR lifestyles. They're a lot of talk and no substance, just like politicians. The crap that Bush has been getting away with is ridiculous. They always make fun of baby boomers, but at least we got up and made some noise. The only way kids today would get involved is if their ISP suddently turned off their Internet access, and they couldn't get on the Net, or their iPod/XBox/Playstation stopped working.

  • You act like babyboomers weren't personally being drafted into a war, or personally struggling with segregation, or personally watching the news of MLK, JFK and RFK being killed and the riots afterwards.

The nation was scared into a deal to prevent what was claimed as more personal attacks on our country. Millions went out in force against it, and a majority of American stand firmly against it now. But theres only so much noise you can make on the other side of a wall before growing tired.

  • nah i think hes pretty true....we do fuck all...Im 19 and the acts I see today which are supposedly radical are completely tame and dull comparaed to what people were doing in the sixties and seventies

  • you're also acting like the babyboomers were successful

  • I have an idea, how about you don't generalize.

    Generalization is ignorance.

I am 25, so I am one of your "Kids".

You gonna start yelling for me to turn down my music now?

  • roomsixproductions-

It's the way of the world. Europeans ignored Hitler, the US ignored WWII etc. etc. Don't get all high and mighty, it's in our nature to ignore reality until it becomes OUR reality. History shows that people tend to ignore things until it affects them. People can hate the Status Quo all they want but they usually don't do something about it until it smacks them in the face. The baby-boomers are no different.

  • thats true

  • right, and white people didn't enslave their entire race and continue to destroy any opportunity of an actual balance of race

...and a whole bunch of white people have been hung, haven't they?

  • no the entire race wasnt enslaved, and yes an entire sling of white people have been hung, we call these the witchs or wiccans, i>e> any that dont believe in the crusified jesus or the christian god

  • Evidentally Sam isn't as racist as the Klan, as he chose to appear on a white man's tv program. It's not entirely accurate to refer to their acts as crimes, as they were genuinely preparing for a civil war.

  • I think that is what Kerry was trying (badly) to say - the stuff about the draft and the pressure to either do well in school or wind up having to go off to war to be able to afford a college education. He just worded it very badly, and the (right-wing) media took advantage of that, and ran with it ie. "He said the troops were ignorant, etc."

  • There IS a middle class, they're just so well camoflaged with the trappings of the wealthy that people don't see it. How many are pulling in 5 figure incomes, yet drive a leased Mercedes that they park in the driveway of their $900,000 trophy shit box...the wife owns a handful of six hundred dollar purses, the husband wears a Rolex, yet they couldn't afford to replace their washing machine if it died because they're essentially, liquidly, broke?

  • There is no bloody household anywhere in the world that makes 5 figures a year with all those luxuries.

  • Who said household you ignoramus?

  • Exactly. Doesn't help that we are constantly bombarded with advertisements trying to sell us shit we don't need.

These companies spend TONS of money every year to get these advertising companies to create ads that make people feel like they need this crap. All the shows on TV, including the news, have an effect on how you think about yourself and society, so you feel more inclined to spend your money. We're working our asses off just to be able to afford the crap they're selling us. WTF???

  • The companies pay off the politicians to steer us towards or away from "outside" interests, and anyone who speaks out against these thugs is assassinated by either a literal assassination or a character assassination.

And as long as we are all arguing and fighting over differences of skin color, gender, religion, etc., or running around with our noses up celebrities asses, we cannot unite as a nation and drive their corrupt asses out of government. WAKE UP, AMERICA! THE MATRIX IS HERE!!!

  • well-said

  • henry rollins is the best interviewer ive seen by far!...very interesting stuff he puts out on the table

  • good interview. all intellectual and shit.

  • "There was no threat to their quality of life..."

    SLJ you rock, buddy!!"

Wether you like his acting or his movies is irellevant, his message rings true, and just explained a whole lot 'o well rapped answers to get deep with...

    Bernie BURNALOT

  • Rollins has a great way with communicating with people. He has a way about him that brings out very interesting aspects of those he interviews. It's nice to see a man who is sharp and intelligent doing interviews that really reveal a lot about who they interview.

  • he also talks to the people who have some really interesting things to say. he knows what he wants to hear and what we all want to hear.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • Sorry. I wanted to say that Jackson is so fucking cool.

  • Awesome interview!! Jackson is so fucking. Good job Rollins! Thanks for posting!!

  • what a great interview...It's so cool to see an interview with a truly great contemporary actor that discusses not only his upcoming films and past work but also takes in the civil rights movement and his own place within it as well. Excellent!

  • cheers
