from what it looks like in this video, being in constant half to 3/4 brakes seems like its making the wings very unstable. is it safe to assume they should just be letting their hands all the way up to keep the wing flying?

Please learn paragliding first.... I would hate to see a death video.... Speed gliding isn't something to just try to pick up and learn from scratch. **Base jumpers don't just pick up base jumping... they learn to skydive first!**
All I see is a lot of falling and needlessly and significantly more complicated than normal skiing! Unless you go off cliffs or big jumps, how is this better?
ok, fun to learn BUT NOT ON SKIRUN ! Our liberty is at that price. Precision: you can use an old parachute checked, near 140 Sq/M to learn if you have already fly and a 160 Sq/M for a rookie fly. Use "sellette"(in french) with airbag. If you want fly more than ski, buy a new speedflying canopy from paragliding manufacturer. If you want do speedriding use re-formed parachute from skydive. And Happy run but safely run

buy yourself a longer pair of skis. the ones in the video look ridiculously short. some 150cm carvers? go for at least 175!
