  • looks soooo..... realistic! that s brilliant! where did you learn to do that?

  • @FireBreath2012LOL Hello! Thanks for that great comment, much appreciated. It's a combination of inheritance factor and I've been working at it for a few years now! :)) Roby

  • is that a drawing of a red wolf? or a timber wolf?

  • @mermaidluver989 Hi! He was a timber wolf. :) Roby

  • are these pastel pencils?

  • @Aspenbeast Hello! Yes, these are Stabilo CarbOthello pastel pencils and I get them at Dick Blick here on-line. :) Roby

  • @robertarobybaer what colours did you use? do you recommend buying 12, 36, or 48?

  • @Aspenbeast Hello! Depending on how serious you are and if financially you can, I would get the largest set 60 then you'd have all of the colors. You may not use all of them but you might and it's fun to experiment. The pencil colors I used on this wolf are as follows; neutral black #750, white #100, ivory #105, light blue #435, colbalt blue #425, dark flesh tint #680, orange #221, burnt sienna #670, caput mortuum #640. There isn't a color name on the pencil just a number. Good luck! :) Roby

  • @robertarobybaer thank you so much!

  • Fantastic. Is it for sale?

  • @misgit1 Hello! Thank you for the inquiry. The original is sold but I do have prints in my eBay store in my mammal section. My user name is artistmom. Thanks again! :)) Roby

  • @cyphi1 Hello there! Thanks, I am considering a longer viewing time at the end. I do sell this image and many more at my eBay store if you'd like to view them there too. My username is artistmom. Thanks for the comment. :)) Roby

  • @robertarobybaer good deal I'll definitely be buying one soon. You have great skill!!! :D

  • @cyphi1 Thanks so much!! :)) Roby

  • @cyphi1 pushing pause works too ;)

  • @TTundragrizzly that's not the point...

  • @cyphi1 well when its practicaly a still photo anyway,,,what difference does it make if its running time or paused. If its still anyway. Pause just gives you more time to look at the finished product.

  • the 2nd song reminds me of chris brown's she aint you lol

  • @sarangheegg Hello! lol!! :) Roby

  • WOw beautifull I have a question do you take request??

  • @beautytimee Hello! Do you mean you're requesting a subject for me to do or do you mean a commissioned piece where you buy the painting? :) Roby

  • Hi Roby, I must ask, what are you using to make this, are those pencils or cray-pod pencils? What paper are you using too?

  • @blackroses315 Hello!! I am using CarbOthello pastel pencils and my paper is Strathmore Illustration or Bristol Board 500 series cold press Vellum. I get them both at Dick Blick on-line. :) Roby

  • The only people who can dis this, are jelous...

  • @CheetahWolfLover Hello! Thanks for that comment...I guess some have to be negitive and that's okay. The pro's way out-weigh the cons. :))) Roby

  • hioghhgzphgoishyiathypihnser It should be illegal to draw this freaking good :D

  • @sonikkugamergirl470 Why? I can only dream drawing this good! XD

  • @hypersonic123456 Just because:))))) Lots of practice and the "have to" that calls to me inside. :) Roby

  • @robertarobybaer I haven't felt that "have to" feeling in over a decade. Since then, I haven't been inspired to draw anything.

  • @hypersonic123456 That's too bad.... hope you'll get inspired sometime soon!! :) Roby

  • @sonikkugamergirl470 He, heeee, thanks so much! :) Roby

  • @Shinketa Hello! Thank you! I've done a lot of show dogs and pet portraits over the years but I love to do wolves, it's all about the eye's! :)) Roby

  • WOW! this is really good! i like the details in this drawing! they look so..... realistic! awesome job!

  • @Faithyopuppy12 Hello! Thanks, I appreciate that!! :)) Roby

  • @Zomgitsyou1 Hi, thank you!!! :) Roby

  • No.No,no,no,no! You can not do that! Why would you show us a picture of a wolf?

hehe thats just my way of saying that you are amazing :)

  • @sarahsarah0923 Whew.... scared me there for a second! Thank you!!! :)) Roby

  • Amazing to watch, you're very talented indeed! And I agree, the detail is fantastic!

  • @zeuskitrebor Hello! Thank you very much!!! :)) Roby

  • Incredible attention to detail. Your grasp of colour blows my mind. How long does a painting like this usually take you?

I'm working on wolf designs at the moment, and am looking at ways to distinguish them from each other. You are absolutely right about their eyes being paramount to their image.

  • @Darkstorne Hello there! Gee, thank you so very much for your wonderful comments. This little painting 4"x5" took me all of one day, so several hours. Each wolf will have it's own personality even if they look the same at a glance. Look closely and you'll see the differences especially in the eye's. Good luck with your project!! :)) Roby

  • YOU ARE BEST! <3

  • @RukiBest Hello! Thank you!! :) Roby

  • *eats his pencils* Damn that's good.

  • @WolfberryWhisper Hello! Thanks so much! :))

  • All I can say is BRAVO and VERY WELL DONE.. My question to you though, is what type of pencils did you use here, to paint and blend your wolf's fur and eyes? I think I did notice you using oil pastels! In any event I absolutely love and admire your ability to bring your wolf to life just by the way you paint his eyes! I hope you continue to show off the talent that Creator has blessed you with...And may you continue your "Artistic Journey" with many blessings my friend! "Spirit Painter:"

  • @proudarmymom88 Hello! Well...thanks so much for this lovely comment! I appreciate it very much! I use all soft pastels. The pencils are CarbOthello pastel pencils (get at Dick Blick). My favorite brands of stick pastels are Sennelier, Unison, Rembrandt and Schmincke to name a few. My paper is Bristol Board 500 series cold press vellum and I get those really sharp points on my Carbo's with the X-ACTO Powerhouse electric sharpener. Thank you VERY much for your great comments!!! :)))

  • Stunning how you managed to capture the realism and the wet look of the eye

    with Pastels.

    Proper Art :-)

Not the "Modern Art" Overpriced "Emperors New Clothes" Bullshit that All these so called

Art critics and expert keep raving about.

Its real artists like Yourself that deserve the praises

    Well Done

  • @CheckMySix Thank you SO very much, I apprecite your comment! It takes a lot of practice, patience and determination to do photorealism and many thanks to you for acknowledging that!! :))

  • HAI COMANCHE! :D D'awww now I miss him. ='( Great job though!

  • @xWolfHauntx Hello! Thanks so much! Did you know Comanche? He was beautiful!!!

  • @robertarobybaer I did. =3 I used to volunteer with NCWR some years ago, before I moved here to PA. Miss those guys, I think you would be able to make a really beautiful piece with BlackJack, he was one of my favorites there. =)

  • @xWolfHauntx That's great, he was such an awesome wolf, so gentle and spectacular to look at!! I didn't realize how very large wolves are until I met Comanche, very big! I didn't meet BlackJack is he still around?

  • @robertarobybaer Omg did you ever see Dante? He was 225 lbs! And yes, BlackJack is still around, at least I'm pretty sure he is, I am no longer in CA, so I can't be 100% positive. But now he is almost all silver, with gorgeous oak eyes, but he used to be all black, when I saw him last, he was about a quarter of the way phased through. =)

  • @xWolfHauntx Yes, I think Dante was the big white wolf. I'm not sure that he is still with us as I haven't seen Sam for awhile. I remember that Comanche was much taller and Dante was big around!! I'm going to see if Black Jack is still there, sounds like another wolf video to me! :)) Thanks!!

  • @robertarobybaer Yepp, Dante was the big white wolf. =) Unfortunately, he is not with us. =( The last I saw Comanche, I was in Ol' Sac and we had Comanche, Motzy, Cheyanne, and Dante, and I remember Comanche gave some lady with her dog a real mean growl when they got too close. lol It was kinda scary. xD

Oh if you could do Jack that would be wonderful! I've seen a few people do Comanche, but no one gives Jack lovin'! lol

Can't wait to see if you do Jack!

  • @xWolfHauntx Awww too bad about Dante! I always saw the three together Comanche, Motzy and Dante. After Comanche passed I saw but didn't meet Cheyanne. I have two big projects to complete before I can look into doing Jack but if I can I will do him. Oh yeah....how did you know that this video was Comanche??

  • @robertarobybaer I saw the thumbnail and I was like...that looks like Comanche! And then when it was done I thought..I thought I saw a photo of Comanche that was this, so I looked through his R.I.P album on FB, and well I didn't find the photo but I did find your drawing! lol Although I could've swore there was an original photo to this...lol maybe when I was skimming through the first time I just thought your art was a photo. xD

  • @xWolfHauntx Oh... I was just wondering how you knew! You know it's my highest compliment when someone thinks my painting is a photograph. I worked from a photo that my friend took when we met Comanche, still miss that beautiful wolf!

  • @robertarobybaer Oh and yes, Jack is still with us. =) And if you go on NCWR's FB photos, there's photos of him before he phases, in the middle of his phase(When I saw him most) and I know I've seen at least 2 or 3 of him all through his phase. lol I think before his phase he was the most gorgeous. lol Then his eyes(Which are slightly lighter than Comanche's) REALLY pop out!

  • @xWolfHauntx Yeah, I saw the images of him, he is such a handsome guy! I'lll have to get permission from Sam but he probably won't mind especially if I supply him with a print. :))

  • It looks like a photo!!! I swear if I could draw like that I would be RICH!!!!!

  • @Afdchan Hello! Thanks so much!! Yeah, I've been tryling to figure out how to do that! :))

  • it's so amazing!!! ..what kind of colors used?

  • @shinigamikmmus Hello! I use CarbOthello pastel pencils in combination with stick pastels. I get the pencils at Dick Blick here online. My favorite stick pastel brands are Sennelier, Unison, Rembrandt and Schmincke. :))

  • Hi there, I was wondering if you're using Oil pastel pencils, Colored Charcoal, or Chalk Pastel Pencils? :) I would love to work with this medium, you make it look so malleable! Thanks!
