  • I think to decribe an "asian" eye, terms such as "tapered" or "single eye lid" would fit better.

  • I'm Asian and my eyes are almond shape.

  • lol...my girlfriend is Korean and her eyes don't look anything like that!

  • just sounds like a disgruntled mongoloid to me

  • They're just saying the truth...the truth hurts.

  • And what are they supposed to call it? you need to chill out..

  • Why is that offensive, people are so overly political correct, next time they will just leave asian eyes out, and than what? psht.

  • Emh...i'm black but my eyes tend to lift at the end...people usually say that i have beautifull eyes...._.

  • the stereotypical asian eye is korean's ,not chinese.

  • Comment removed

  • People, you guys are mean!!! Even in comments!!! You ignorant chinese/japanese/vietnamese/philipines/taiwanese!!! Some unlucky korean people may have those eyes but not all!!!! Many korean eyes are not lifted at all!!! Sure, many of us may have monolids but wtf, anyone who said that only korean eyes are like that are as ignorant as the maybelline morons!!! Im korean btw and i have beautiful monolids which are NOT LIFTED AT THE SIDES!!!!

  • You are just jealouse of white eyes njoy your SMALL eyyyyyyes

  • why would it bother you if it doesn't bother me....

  • This is all garbage .Any creases in the eyelid are TOTALLY adaptive to the person's enegry (food, daylight, water, personal eminence interface/ETC.). The subjugation of people on the internet is criminal and traceable to elite bloodline and information streams . To deny this is to be prepared for a limitless onslaught of facts and inescapable TRUTHS that refute the bullshit explanations that the "most" of the internet relies upon to discredit truth . Pretty damn easy to understand .Wake UP!

  • This was hilarious. I agree with some of the comments below. I am Chinese and I don't have the stereotypical "Asian eyes." Quite the contrary.

  • I understand what you mean, they shouldn't call it asian eyes. Not all asian eyes have a distintive lift at the outer corner and very little lid or no creases...Other then bone structure of the face, I think what really makes an asian person look asian is really the epicanthal fold at the inner corner of the eyes(which i find very unique), how prominent the fold is and how much fat they have around their eyes - below the eyebrows, under eyes and eyelids NOT the lift and no eyelids or crease

  • @CynZia27 epicanthal fold among Asians generally decreases down from north to south, the greatest frequency is observed among the northern asians, when you go to southeastasian countries, you can hardly see anyone with prominent mongoloid folds.

  • @CynZia27

there is an interesting video about asian eyes. check out "Making Jessica Alba asian" on my channel.

  • Lol, Asian? Seriously? Very little lid has Lucy Liu, other sets of Asian eyes have very much lid. Uhm, this is moronic. I just got here by mistake, searching for some way to paint Asian eyes. :D heh. I know no Asian girls, I am really sadden by this, so I went on the internet searching for a tutorial to work in oil paint, on my imaginary nude gheisha. She's almost complete now, yet has NO irises...

    end rant.

  • definetely these are korean's eyes

  • NO!! THIS IS KOREAN, NOT ASIAN!!!! BUT IT'S TRUE :)

  • this is so offensive that they would do that! ignorant people! i am asian but i have eyes that look nothing like that! i have big double-lid eyes and i still take offense to this so so much. how would it feel if they put under the section "Caucasian" or "african" eyes?!?!

  • Far out hahah how stupid and ignorant can people be? And its 2011 already ffs...Haha you arent over sensitive! Shows how you arent ignorant/so narrow minded/stupid etc. Thanks for posting this! :D I can relate ae

Im Asian but have double lids, bigger eyes- I get people asking if Im part white all the time.........ANNOYING. A few times I even had people making comments like 'your eyes are so pretty- are you part white?' ... O.o ..... I cannot stand ignorance haha

  • Waaaaaaaaaaa! Waaaaaaaaaaa! Get over it. Blind people would love to have those slanty eyes.

  • non non ! KOREAN eyes have a distinctive lift at the outer corner and very little lid.

  • That is off its wrong they should stick to charchetristics not race and im just putting it out there that im australian and practicaly all my frends are asian from, korean, japan, china, vietnam, none of them have the 'double eye lid' by birth but they do now and i found out not to long ago they ( all the girls) had work done to creat that double eye lid... and theres nothing wrong with not having it but they were geuinly woried by it. Plus my bf korean he has 'asian eyes' and i love his eyes.

  • single eyelids were adaptation to the cold for asians. thats why most northern asians like koreans or northern chinese have single eyelids. roughly speaking 10% koreans have natural double eyelids. 40% japanese have natural double eyelids. 70% japanese who live in southern japan like okinawa or northern japan like hokkaidou have natural double eyeldis since they are descendants of native japanese. I don't refer to chinese since china is a huge country.

  • @SereneArch most of Vietnam, part of Japan, part of China, many people do have natural born double eyelids.

  • @yourtestimonial

Yup like me. I'm Chinese and have double eyelids. It's bullshit to assume we Asians don't have double eyelids.

  • So racist! In a way...

  • its northern asian eyes rather than asian eyes.

by the way there is an interesting video about asian eyes. check out "Making Jessica Alba asian" on my channel.

  • @DaiTetsujin17 korean eyes and northern chinese eyes

  • I don't think it's offensive how there is an "asian" choice in that drop down menu but that picture...it's pretty offensive.

  • this type of oval slanty eyes do not exist in SoutheastAsia

  • I'm an asian american and I get that from my friends all the time saying all asian look the same. There's this 200lbs mexican girl whos fat as hell and ugly asked me how can I see and was doing the pulling the eyelids up to make fun of me to all my friends. I mean really, I don't even have mono eyes but just cuz I'm asian? Even if they have monolids like Lucy liu or Zhang Ziyi and you think they're not pretty?

  • can someone tell me how to get to this website?

i don't mean maybelline's website, but the url to the eyeshape thing.

  • Eh cmon no big deal

  • Love your video!! Have they ever noticed Indian girl eyes????? They have large brown eyes, the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.

  • Are you saying that they should have them as "Mongoloid Eyes" ?

Please, don't be so sensitive people!

  • @oscardriver They should just use some other description because it's obvious not all Asians have those set of eyes. And if we follow your suggestion of using "Mongoloid Eyes" wheres the option for "Caucasoid eyes" or "Negroid eyes" eh?

  • I'm Pakistani, and being south asian I have very large round eyes...

Most south Asians have large eyes, Ashwariya Rai is a good example. Its annoying when people say the word ASIAN and think of one stereotypical type of ethnicity...

  • i hv nvr seen that 45 degree up asian eyes.. lol . . LMFAO

  • stop getting offended by every thing. maby not you, but native asians have that i shape. many "asians" that don't have eyes like that have either 1. have ancestors that are not all 100% asian or 2. have ancestors that lived in asia so long ago that fetures began to change. ( those are the original eyes of an asian). If you were african- american and picked out skin tone you would not be offended if one option was "african" because that is the natural skin tone of an african.

  • @joocrazy1 eye shapes change especially between countries and nations, etc. It's not fair for them to be generalizing. For example, Chinese people's eyes look different than Japanese, and Korean, and Vietnamese. Especially Indian people! do you not agree that India is in asia? You may not notice it but I do, and I'm asian. It's easier to get offended when they're talking about your own people.

  • well indians don't have that eye shape at all and they are asian

  • yes girl im with you..

  • you go girl, dat shit is so offensive

  • @MaLuEiD fuck no

  • fuck maybelline.

  • I'm not Asian and I'm offended by that one. Ironically, my eyes are shaped like average Asian eyes (i have a tiny crease for a lid and can't see liquid liner on my top lid), and though I'm African American, my maternal grandfather was half Chinese. My mom has similar eyes and some of my siblings do as well. My whole point: eye shape varies throughout all races. They should have known that and shouldn't have made that distinction just for the whole Asian culture. Good day to you!

  • lmao yeah well white people have always been kinda ignorant

  • so true

  • I don't think they're trying to be racist or anything. They are all kind of exaggerated, but that's just to help you pick which one is yours.

  • totally outrageous

  • Um... I don't think you're overly sensitive at all. White people have really scared us into becoming passive when it comes to pointing out racism. It is insensitive and ignorant to assume that all Asians (first of all ASIAN is a very broad term) have the same damn eyes. There are MILLIONS of east asian people and pacific islanders... and they are unique. Don't apologize for being perceptive.

  • Wow. You think ppl would be more sensitive in this day and age. It's like having an option for lip gloss and one of the option is "black lips". Glad they corrected it tho. However, ppl like Lucy Liu isn't helping b/c she does have slanted eyes and that's what America sees.

  • @kiman2 I never thought about that. I bet lipglosses and lipsticks look way different on black girls.

  • your so true..! good video

  • check ken hirai. he's pure japanese.

  • Also so interesting that the eyes are apparently all BLUE!!! Thanks for the rant.

  • @ponopop2 lol, I failed to even realize the eye colour! :T

  • Maybelline is lame!!

  • The illustration seriously looks like those WWII Anti-Japanese propaganda cartoons. Not cool at all :(

I'm glad Maybelline changed it but I'm still wondering how that ever got approved in the first place.

  • had to watch it with the sound off

  • wthell! umm, i'm filipino, which is asian, & my eyes look NOTHING like that! (:

  • "As of Feb0410 3:16PM they have rectified the situation the best they could...better than nothing."

The best they could? What did they do?

  • @isoblah sorry i didn't edit here, but they removed 'Asian' and created 2 new categories...

  • @rasillaS2 what are the 2 new categories

  • Ridiculous. They seriously think all Asian people have the same eye shape? Dumbfucks.

  • Maybelline proves a point; majority of Western fashion magazines are racist. The ideal version of beauty rests solely on pearly-skinned white girls with blonde hair. Their ideas about Asian features rely on the outdated and colonial-esque inspired ideas brought on my the British Empire.

  • At first, I thought it was great for major companies to include Asian features, but this is clearly dumb on their part. Why can't Asians have "close-set" eyes or "almond" eyes? And as if it weren't bad enough to have Asian eyes singled out in the drop-down menu, the description is ridiculous! The rest of the eye shape choices are just as ridiculous, if not racist.

  • oh no they didn't! i don't think my eyes slant up like that. wtf?!

  • Your not being overly sensitive.. That was complete garbage.

Lol at your finger pulling eyes thing

  • that's such a racist stereotype. how offensive!

  • aw how cute.

you felt so justified to leave a comment.

well good for you for standing up for your beliefs.

i will stand up for mine.

  • how in the world does your example of filling out "white" on scan trons even compare to this? filling out such info on forms is generalization but it doesn't involve the attribution of false and exaggerated stereotypes (what asian even has such cartoonishly slanted eyes) NOR does it involve being singled out (why are asians the only group to be singled out for such a "privilege" from maybelline. that you think the two examples are even comparable is laughable.

  • @spartacus4x You Idiot the point wasnt about different nationalites it was about stereotyping a whole race of asians with a certain look.

Learn how to listen and comprehend lmao

Example what if they had a whole type of noses but had one labelled "european" and it was a long curved beak like nose. Wouldnt that annoy you? as not all whites have that sterotyped nose...see what I mean.

  • What's with the extreme angle? I think the developers were watching too much Mulan. I hate to tell them but that was a CARTOON and not real.

  • This is offensive! I have never seen an asian with that much lift on the outer corners? WTF?

  • maybe they should come out with some black eyes, really big portruding eyeballs

  • hey! im ana asian but my eyes doesnt look like that! X( thats preety offensive! what are they trying to say?

  • Wow i'm not asian but this is pretty offensive. They should do something about this.

  • I think you got the correct term, it is definitely offensive. >__>

  • omg...what the heck -___- this is so stupid.

  • i'm asian and my eyes don't even look like that. heck, they aren't even slanted up (_ _)
