Brilliant, especially the conclusion on how they only hurt thier closest and are great are being decievers. It is amazing how they can manipulate so many into believing they are wonderful, kind beings.
You describe every sensitive individual I've ever known. So far as you don't offer a cure, you offer a sequestrated description similar to Plato's forms, isolated character traits common to many people what is a diagnosis if the cure be sequestrating oneself from your description alone? Most clinical descriptions of Psychopaths I've ever read do also encompass genius; they are mad only North by North-West, otherwise highly indipendent, sensitive, creative individuals. What is this for?
Psychopaths are the only people with complete control over their body/facial expressions. Unlike psycho-typicals, socio/psychopaths are able to be fully concious over their movements.
@gummynumberone most facial expressions that people do are unconscious, they are unaware of the faces they pull. (eg when you are shocked your eyes widen and probably your mouth too without noticing). Psychopaths and sociopaths do not have feelings, the faces they pull and the body language they do is completely controlled, mimicked, in order to look like 'one of us'.
@MegaOrangePenguin Thanks for that, is it the same as having to tell someone to smile now and then as they have this 'face' that never changes. A kind of blank stare and thier mouths turn downwards, the walk is something akin to john wayne times 10.
@HolyBreeze37 There are some people (such as myself) who do have a rather expressionless face (especially when deep in thought). I wouldn't look to much further into it because sociopathy isn't something you can diagnose as to how someone walks or when and how they move their face. Everyone fakes little emotions on a day-to-day basis (fake amusement, fake smile, fake interest) out of consideration of others and sheer politeness. But the point is, this video is bunk because you just can't tell.
Being a former narcissist, I can see peoples egos and narcissism pretty clearly. Because I have been there, I have been through those stages. But there are a lot of things in society that cater to the ego, in fact, pretty much almost everything as far as entertainment goes feeds a narcissistic personality disorder.
The more you can laugh at yourself and not take things too seriously, the less narcissistic you will be. ( : But I think most humans by nature are somewhat narcissistic. It's just a stage of evolution/growing. It becomes a problem when a person gets stuck in it. Trapped in their own delusions. When I was a big narcissist it was only because I was naive. ( : And there are a lot of naive people out there.
I used to be VERY narcissistic. But the again I used to be an insomniac and have a lot of anxiety/depression. Now I think I am somewhat narcissistic. Or "egotistical" may be a better word. I think Narcissism is just an inflated Ego. And of course that inflated Ego blinds the narcissist from reality so they see the world in a distorted way. In a way where they think the world is supposed to be a certain way. And everything angers the narcissist because of course it isn't "a certain way."
I had to stop seeing my Narcissist as a Human being, he is more like a thing some kind of demon or creature who wants to control me. He is very nice and sweet and cunning but he is also very evil and dangerous and scary. He sees himself as higher then all humans and believes he is better.

Strange, i have many of the above traits except im constantly discussing my failures and shortcomings with almost anybody, but I guess its all about shades of grey, is there any such thing as a partial narcissist or does that defeat the point, ie is a narcissist always a full on narcissist?
Please will you enable he 'share' button as I wish to send this video to a man who is related to a psychopath. You sound as if your talking about their relative. Thank you
I might consider that one has not found value in human-kind, but won't kill themselves, because they're animals. I think being a psychopath has much to do with conceptualizing rather than genetic influence, because our minds shape our brains.
@Whatever3252 There is one major flaw here, most psychopaths end up failing hard. When we others face a hard situation in life we can think more carefully what and what not to do. A psychopath is extremly impulsive and gets himself into lots of trouble. This combined with thier grandiosity creates an extremly destructive lifestyle not knowing when to stop. Lets say someone doesnt want sex with you, the psychopath will find a way to "win" No matter which ends up with rape.
f I may add- often the reasons a person "turns" or becomes sociopathic, is a fundamental mental shift at an early age in the ego/sense of self, where right & wrong, and their place in a society is blurred due to sexual and/or emotional abuse.
Nearly every therapist and psychologists agrees with this finding, and unfortunately this condition is considered the one mental disturbance that cannot be helped (for complex reasons) and is also a social epidemic.
@oblivionzzzmike I always heard that it is far healthier to have an inflated view of ones self. And what about Winston Churchill's great quote: "Success is the ability to go from one failure to the next with no loss of enthusiasm." If that isn't narcissism, what is?
@oblivionzzzmike No you're not, I just realized halfway through that most of the social tactics described were used by every single boy in my elementary and middle school. So, this is just guy behavior when we're being mean. This isn't psychopathic. The jack of all trades/genius thing: I found out later in high school and in college that many of my peers had multiple talents. Also, most guys I knew wouldn't admit sucking at anything they did regularly. It's a pride thing, it will always be there
@Whatever3252 most psychopaths spend thier entire lives hiding the fact they cannot experience emotions. It totally sucks. Its like being color blind or deaf. It sucks. Your opinion is really dumb and show not much thought. Try again.
I totally agree, I know one and passively disengaged. Since then he has moved onto other people and ended up in the nut house and fate has also taken it's toll on the grandiose setup.
I read a thesis by a world renowned expert on this subject, he says that psychopaths do not become nervous in situations that would make none-psychopaths nervous ie (job interviews, rollercoaster rides), this I believe is why many obtain high level positions in the enployment market.
@mrcraftsmann Agreed... some people are naturally introverted or have an analytical mindset, but that doesn't necessarily make them narcissistic or abusive.
@ceridawn yeah, i have seen that documentary before. But i forgot that title of the documentary. He was supposed to be a sociopath to be interviewed. When i watched this clip i was quite amazed, Nice video though.
Take away the mask and they are almost all the same. Hallow, empty, pointless, and often heartless. They can hide behind good looks, wealth, fame, and achievement but once the shell is broken they are easily brought back down to the same level as everyone else but only after damage has been done.
I have been watching for years more and more people becoming like monsters as they got worse. People these days as a society is acting more narcissistic than ever before. It is making a normal social life more and more difficult when greeted with people with huge and overinflated egos as well incredible hatred of others who they view as less than them. At the same time they are incredibly able to win people over but only for a short time when the cut of personality is broken.
I have watched in horror as more and more people developed the traits defined in this video. These people have been produced/created/molded by the corporate structure of greed. They are the "successful" one's in great demand by the system of corporatism that prevails all over the globe today.
Wow! You've really nailed it. I've known someone like this -it's ironic how they see themselves a so superior and unique, but once you know someone has this personality type it's easy to see how they will probably react to any given situation.
This perfectly describes my friend who thinks she is a reincarnation of a French royalty and she thinks she deserves extra respect and fame. I hope one day she will stumble upon this video and see herself in self-honesty as a pathetic narcissist. Thank you for this video. You are so wise!
Bernie Madoff, finance fraud, Harold Shipman, murder, of course Adolph Hitler, genocide. It's 4% of the population, 20% of the prison population. Obama, highly unlikely. G.W. Bush, maybe.
@RunninQHsRock Not sure which ones were and which were not, but the reasons many people in politics are psychopathic are explained in the video "freedom from conscience - psychopaths." Just as a histrionic person may be drawn to dancing or singing, or a schizotypal person is drawn to the arts, a psychopath has traits that are almost custom-made for being perfect for politics.
Maybe most of our politicians are psychopaths. The video "freedom from conscience -- psychopaths" seems to make a good case for it. In fact, maybe the electoral process means psychopaths have an advantage.
@olga2415 it helps to b selective in personal relationships, which really comes only with expreience...but politics, god help us all,indeed...it never worked in politics:s
@olga2415 I hate to break it to you guys, but 90% of ALL politicians are narcissists and psychopaths. My question is, why does everything have to be about Obama? Does EVERY video have to be about how Obama is the Antichrist or just a forum to yell "RON PAUL!"?
I would love to see Mr. Vaknin do a video on troll psychology.
@pureevilfnord Exactly! Obama IS being used as a forum to manipulate sheople to grasp onto Ron Paul as the next possible "savior" of this nation. Troll psychology is well understood by those who control whole populations. You are preaching to the quire directing your comment to me. I believe more like 99% of politicians are narcissists and sociopaths. Most people are "throwing the ball behind the runner", as they say in baseball. They'll continue to miss getting "them" out. And the game goes on.
@BrianAndrew1515 As someone else commented: "All politicians are sociopaths", I think one of the qualifying attributes for a politician who achieves high office is a well developed psycho pathology.
I was taking a confidence course when we were given a task to write down our good points and achievements for homework. Then when we read out what we wrote we were told to exaggerate our achievements.
@ssocgfack It weould certainly be easy to confuse Obama and what the speaker here is describing. As I listen I think he is going to hold up a picture of 'ol Barack anytime for illustration of the point.
@edwardsson777 Because many politicians appear narcissistic when speaking to the public. It's not just Barack Obama, and that's why I think it's wrong to diagnose politicians from afar. Even personal testimony is shaky, as there is always someone willing to exagerate someone's negative points in order to damage them.
This is also why I didn't like it when I saw some speculation about Sarah Palin being a narcissist.
Sigmund Freud : narcissism is a normal stage in children's development, but it is considered a disorder when it occurs after puberty.
some disagree in it's incurability. some books written on the subject, agree that life crisisees along with narcisist's will to change, sum up improvment until normal functioning. although in some cases it relapses and even worsen.
@clairejgray I usually say "he" because it's easier to use a 2-letter word than "he or she" or "the person". I'm too lazy to be gender neutral, no matter what kind of person I'm talking about. In Bram Stoker's "Dracula", Van Helsing uses the masculine pronoun on inanimate objects. He's foreign (I think Dutch), with English as a second language, and some languages have no gender-neutral word for "it". "He" doesn't necessarily mean male.
I agree, people don't need to be psychologists to diagnose someone as a narcissist; we are all psychologists! Its a matter of social and emotional intelligence and being self aware to recognise the red flags. Sam has pointed these subtle signs and I have noticed them in people.
@AtticusStount : if you are offended, I'd think you would want to confront someone on here who speaks with vulgarity about psychopaths, has expressed gun violence against a psychopath, the animalistic and non-humancharaterizations, the vocal rampages and negative rants. Perhaps you could do some volunteer work to help people on here who HAVE BEEN JUDGMENTAL to stop the bullying of the psychopaths. 'Will be out of country at psychology convention in Sweden, so take care.

@AtticusStount : Sorry to hear of your being mislabeled. As I said, these "characteristics fit (the person I know) to a tee" who has caused grave injury and divisiveness in my family physically and mentally...while displaying every single characteristic...I fear for my relative's life. I can say nothing because I do not have input into this isolated family member's life anymore, so the abuser is "safe" until my relative decides "enough". I do wish you the best, though. Take care be blessed.
psychopaths are hot in bed... act all vulnerable, get it in and when they try to cuddle just jab a smith and wesson between his eyes and tell him if he doesn't hook it that you'll empty it into his head... no sense in missing out on good sex...
This is sooooooo true. These characteristics fit ******** to a tee! Thank you for this knowledge! Unfortunately, the person who needs to read this will not, for fear of appearing weak in front of everyone. As I listen, I can only regret I did not know this a year ago so I could warn.
@RedBearWoman Please, you are not a psychologist and are in danger of diagnosing this person based on verisimilitude. I know how tempting this is, especially if you have been harmed by someone. But please don't. I am a borderline with narcissistic trains and was almost driven to suicide when somebody convinced me (I have a larger than usual knowledge of Narcissistic Borderline) that I have this. How nice is it to be convinced you are one of the "living dead" so to speak?
@AtticusStount These are wise words. Strange as it may seem, there are those with your disorder who actually want to be labeled psychopathic. I think they believe it would somehow make them less vulnerable, which of course is not the case. So 'funny', I am experiencing the opposite situation and will not humor this person. -- I should add, that I am not dead, and at the moment I am not even walking but sitting comfortably in a chair. Please, YOU be careful with your labels too, ma'am!
@Moneybrawl. Yes EFT is amazing. The eftuniverse website has the official manual (now improved) which should help. Tap talk radio is also great. I've personally managed to cure a whole host of issues. I'd say psychological things are the best to work on but I've had great success on physical things as well.
I was nodding in agreement the entire time I watched this...I feel like he must know my "boyfriend" (who refers to me as his "assistant") because this is a perfect description of him.
I'm confused. This video was very informative but contains very little about body language.

I might consider that one has not found value in human-kind, but won't kill themselves, because they're animals. I think being a psychopath has much to do with conceptualizing rather than genetic influence, because our minds shape our brains.
mortemdrummer 5 months ago
@Whatever3252 There is one major flaw here, most psychopaths end up failing hard. When we others face a hard situation in life we can think more carefully what and what not to do. A psychopath is extremly impulsive and gets himself into lots of trouble. This combined with thier grandiosity creates an extremly destructive lifestyle not knowing when to stop. Lets say someone doesnt want sex with you, the psychopath will find a way to "win" No matter which ends up with rape.
Jarrelarre 5 months ago
Nails it all on the head.
f I may add- often the reasons a person "turns" or becomes sociopathic, is a fundamental mental shift at an early age in the ego/sense of self, where right & wrong, and their place in a society is blurred due to sexual and/or emotional abuse.

GrumpSkull 6 months ago
I read a thesis by a world renowned expert on this subject, he says that psychopaths do not become nervous in situations that would make none-psychopaths nervous ie (job interviews, rollercoaster rides), this I believe is why many obtain high level positions in the enployment market.
ralutjohn 6 months ago
there is too much generalisation in this description, thus, it fits to almost everyone -_-
and there is very little about "the body language", more about cases of general behavior.
thanks for the video, anyway =)
mrcraftsmann 6 months ago
@mrcraftsmann Agreed... some people are naturally introverted or have an analytical mindset, but that doesn't necessarily make them narcissistic or abusive.

This is a narcissistic world..

Vaknin do a video on troll psychology.
pureevilfnord 6 months ago
@pureevilfnord Exactly! Obama IS being used as a forum to manipulate sheople to grasp onto Ron Paul as the next possible "savior" of this nation. Troll psychology is well understood by those who control whole populations. You are preaching to the quire directing your comment to me. I believe more like 99% of politicians are narcissists and sociopaths. Most people are "throwing the ball behind the runner", as they say in baseball. They'll continue to miss getting "them" out. And the game goes on.

ssocgfack 5 months ago
@ssocgfack It weould certainly be easy to confuse Obama and what the speaker here is describing. As I listen I think he is going to hold up a picture of 'ol Barack anytime for illustration of the point.
edwardsson777 5 months ago
@edwardsson777 Because many politicians appear narcissistic when speaking to the public. It's not just Barack Obama, and that's why I think it's wrong to diagnose politicians from afar. Even personal testimony is shaky, as there is always someone willing to exagerate someone's negative points in order to damage them.
This is also why I didn't like it when I saw some speculation about Sarah Palin being a narcissist.
ginnyisdacoolest 5 months ago
@edwardsson777 lol all leaders are like that, unless you have a hardon for one particular party/person and choose to ignore these signs.
Besides the job requires them to show these signs to some degree no one respects someone who gives off weak body language.

Britannica Concise Encyclopedia: narcissism
Sigmund Freud : narcissism is a normal stage in children's development, but it is considered a disorder when it occurs after puberty.
some disagree in it's incurability. some books written on the subject, agree that life crisisees along with narcisist's will to change, sum up improvment until normal functioning. although in some cases it relapses and even worsen.

I read 75% of narcissists are male, while 25% female, so "he" is the more commonly used pronoun.
dragmetohell999 11 months ago 4
...I notice everyone says, "he." women can be narcissistic too!!
clairejgray 11 months ago 2
@clairejgray I usually say "he" because it's easier to use a 2-letter word than "he or she" or "the person". I'm too lazy to be gender neutral, no matter what kind of person I'm talking about. In Bram Stoker's "Dracula", Van Helsing uses the masculine pronoun on inanimate objects. He's foreign (I think Dutch), with English as a second language, and some languages have no gender-neutral word for "it". "He" doesn't necessarily mean male.
qwexas 9 months ago
@qwexas i just read your comment, you said van helsing uses the masculine pronoun 'he' on inanimate objects, pretty funny haha
JigabooCummin4U 1 month ago

9436oelable 1 year ago
This is sooooooo true. These characteristics fit ******** to a tee! Thank you for this knowledge! Unfortunately, the person who needs to read this will not, for fear of appearing weak in front of everyone. As I listen, I can only regret I did not know this a year ago so I could warn.
RedBearWoman 1 year ago
@RedBearWoman Please, you are not a psychologist and are in danger of diagnosing this person based on verisimilitude. I know how tempting this is, especially if you have been harmed by someone. But please don't. I am a borderline with narcissistic trains and was almost driven to suicide when somebody convinced me (I have a larger than usual knowledge of Narcissistic Borderline) that I have this. How nice is it to be convinced you are one of the "living dead" so to speak?
AtticusStount 1 year ago
