  • VERY nicely DONE!!! Anthony was a dear friend of mine... He was just to young to go....I met Anthony in Bakersfield when he was still playing with the Kingsmen... Met Big Jim and everyone....being a pianist myself, Anthony and I hit it off immediately..But you did a GREAT job in this rendition...You're a very talented player...

Check out my version on my page...I don't have a good camera but the audio is good..So I just recorded me playing it :)

    God bless,

    Scott

  • Awesome job!

Could you tell me the chords you're using for the descending arpeggios in the intro please?

  • wow, that is incredible!

  • The Fast Run that you are using .... IS it the pentatonic scale? could you please list the notes....

  • ummmm WOW!!!!!!!!!!

  • Still listening and enjoying...and praying for God to give you an opening into the Southern Gospel music scene. Your music is such a blessing. The way God flows through you when you play is awesome.

  • Okay, maybe not replace them...but I have been prayng since I came across you yesterday that a Southern Gosepl group needing a pianist will snatch you up. You have "it." God has given you a special, special gift that few are given, and I know you can be out there in the same vain as them.

  • Threw this together in two hours?

    WOW!!!

And people are wondering whose going to replace Anthony Burger and Roger Bennett. You play with same skill, passion and anointing.

  • Haha. Sure.... That will be the day... that I or anyone else ever replaces either one of those two. I hope one day to get to follow in their footsteps because they have got to be my all-time idols. Now I didn't write this arrangement, just so you know. This is Anthony's arrangement., I just learned it in about two hours.

  • Great job! My Friend, Joetta Grant used to sing and play this all time for me back home in Evansvile. I am in awe of your playing.

  • Wow, you are BEAST on the keys!

  • Where in the world did you get the music sheet for this?? I can't find it ANYWHERES! bye the way...YOUR AWESOME!

  • Sorry for the untimely response. I don't of anywhere that you can find the sheet music for this, if you want to learn it, I guess you'll have to do it just like me and everyone else....... by ear. Good Luck, if you need a little help, I'll try to do what I can for you.

  • I pretty much got the beginning but Im having trouble figureing out what to play with my left hand.

  • No problem. 99.99% of people have problems with the left hand, including myself. Pretty much, you should just try to harmonize the right hand with like a C chord for example. Stack the chord C E G. Play it C...... E,G........ Low G........ E,G,.........C........E,G...........Low G.......... etc. It gives the allusion that 2 hands are playing the bass line. What we call the boom chunk style. haha. Hope this helps.

  • Ah thank you so much! I have the video Of him playing this song and I would pause it and see what key he pressed and write it down. ha ha it didn't work to well

  • Could you maybe create a video of some of the bass walks you do or something? Maybe that would be helpful to learn off of? God bless you and praying God opens many doors for you to walk through with your talents and abilities.

  • You and your music are delightful! When will your CD be out and do you know what cities your tour will include? Don't want to lose touch!

    God bless you!

  • Haha. I don't think I'll be having a CD anytime soon. I'm no where near good enough. and I really don't anticipate going on tour for a very very long time, unless Bill Gaither wants to take me a long for the ride. LOL Yeah Right! Gordon Mote isn't going anywhere. And they've got pianist sittin around that are much better than me. I do a few little solo concerts in the Western KY area, but I don't anticipate doing one anytime soon. But thanks for the awesome comments. God Bless!

  • wow do you know where i can get that arrangement???

  • Hi, you won't be able to get this arrangement from anywhere that I know of. No one has transcribed it. So for now everyone is stuck to playing it by ear.

  • Fisherman Dude....You are awesome man! You nailed it to a tee...Anthony would be proud of you...I'm sure you didn't just learn how to play. Did he ever hear you. I'm sure he would be flattered to know that someone actually did it that well... From what I've seen, you have a great future in the Gospel entertainment business. God has blessed you Wil......You rock!

  • Do you by chance know where i can get ANY arrangement. . .do you???

  • Sorry, Looks like you'll have to learn it by ear. I don't know of anywhere that it is in print.

  • good job man.. i love some anthony burger playing.. where did you get the background soundtrack? i have been looking to play with some tracks and actually been looking for the song.. any suggestions or websites where i can order those sound tracks? and keep up the good work!

  • Thanks. You can't really get the track anywhere that I know of, unless you hire some sessions players to come in to a studio and lay it down. What I did was find a recording of Anthony playing, and then play over it. But I was able to get away with it, because I was doubling Anthony almost perfectly, note for note. Good luck and best wishes on your endeavor.

  • WOW!

  • I actually got to meet Anthony in Bakersfield one time when he was with the Kingsmen...They came to my church.. Being a pianist myself we hit it off pretty well...One of the nicest people I have ever met... God bless you Anthony and we'll see you in that meeting in the air

  • Wow! I wish I could have met him! I'm not a good piano player though but im only fourteen. I'll see him there too!

  • wow! totally awesome! You are blessed!!!

  • Looks like you'll have a great future ahead of you

  • That sounds great. =] I like how you kinda add your own personal touch to this arrangement.

  • will is awesome!! lol hi nyssa!

  • Very cool man! You learned it off the video?

  • Yes, I sure did. Thanks

  • WOW. . . Totally amazing, just like Anthony!

  • wish you could have shown your hands while playing

  • How do you play so fast like that don't your hands hurt?? I've tried that song and could't get my tempo to yours at all. Whne I play the song some say that at thatat the temo I play it in sounds Like a baby pushing keys

  • Who is this? Where are his CD's?????

  • Wil!! This is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! I love Anthony Burger and totally enjoy southern gospel music! There's no doubt you'll be traveling with someone-somewhere-someday! Wish I had someone with your talent to play for me while I sing it's os freeing to be backed up by a good pianist! God Bless!

  • superb!

  • Nice. Real nice. Keep it up bro. You score movies by chance?

  • Thanks. Um..... I've never tried. Sounds like a challenge though. LOL

  • sweet playing piano fish dude. Stan sounds pretty rusty on his version, I would have to say this sounds better, anthony rocks. thats a compliment from me cause stan is the man.

  • Hey PianistFishermanGuy, Look up Stan Whitmire's version that he wrote of this song. He's just improvising on the video thats on Youtube but if you want to hear the whole version you should buy his CD.I enjoy his version so you should check it out it if you're curious. Anyways grats playing the piano technically very well = ).

  • Thank you. I saw that video a about a week ago. GREAT STUFF!!!!! I get to meet up with him this Sunday. He is performing in Hopkinsville, KY. My hometown. So I am meeting up with him before or possibly after the show. He is without a doubt the best pianist still alive.

  • great playing..

I recognize this as a anthony burger arrangement....I was wondering are you playingwith a soundtrack or a live band? If you are using a soundtrack where can I order them.

    Thanks

  • Thanks. I was playing with a recording of Anthony. If you listen very closely, you can hear that there is another piano in there. That would be Anthony. haha.

  • I listened again after I read this comment, you can hear the crowd cheering off of the cd at the very beginning. Did you do anything special with the sound to make Anthony's piano not so loud, and are you planning on using this same technique for the hallelujah chorus?

  • Are you planning on putting some more of your playing on youtube?

  • you bet! I know you can expect to see the Hallelujah Chorus around Christmas. And I will see what I can squeeze in between now and then.

  • sorry i just saw how i worded that. i meant along the lines that its a lot faster than we do at church but it has to be slower for a choir. sorry. you are really good anyway.

  • you know you should really consider doing a frankie valli and the four seasons piece. it would be a great add to your repertoire

  • you need a definate tempo man instead of flying all over the place but you are very taleneted

  • can't help it. I was playing with Antony Burgers track. And yes it is in time. So tempo is not a problem at all, because it is a track. But thanks, glad you liked it.

  • Very impressive. I was playing Anthony Burger's piano songs and ran across yours. You are great! God has truly blessed you. Thank you for your videos.

  • Where is this church?

  • Hopkinsville, KY

  • Do you play How Great Thou Art?

  • absolutely. I play just about everything. haha. Just whatever I feel like playing at that particular moment.

  • I just set up my account today and I don't have any videos on it yet. I haven't really figured out how to do anything yet; can I connect my site to your video?

  • Yes its very simple. Just click ADD TO FAVORITES (right below this video), this will add it to your site. And yes I would like to hear your arrangement of when the saints go marching in! Hope you get posting soon.

  • I sent you a link. Let me know if you don't get it.

  • Would you like to hear my arrangement of When The Saints Go Marching In?

  • I just loved this. I stumbled on this somehow, thanks for posting this.

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

  • ohhhh my!!! that is awesome!!

  • Wilton, YOU'RE MY HERO!!!! Haha...

  • WOW!! Did you ever just show my 40 year old butt up on this song!?!?!?! LOL! It makes me wanna take down my pitiful little version!! LOL! Keep up the great playing, and just learn as much as you can possibly learn b/4 you turn around and are 40 like me!!

  • If you would like more info on this, you can email me. I will be glad to help you. But it seriously takes more than the 500 character limit on here. haha. my email is:

whouchens @ apmail dot apsu dot edu

  • WOW SORRY!!!!!! I just realized I didn't but my entire email on here. Sorry Sorry Sorry!!!! The real one is:

whouchens14 @ apmail dot apsu dot edu

Sorry once again, to anyone who tried to get me on email.

  • how do you accompany the melody with your left hand? i have no problem with fills, runs, arpeggios and things of that nature, but i wondered what technique you use to accompany your melody.

  • where do you find these arrangements? I have some of anthony burger's books and recordings and some of the arrangements in the books don't match his recordings. BTW, I never would have thought to purchase a vocal track and play with it. Are you in any kind of music program at your college or univerity?

  • Well, thats the thing I really don't find the arrangements, they just happen. I usually come up with one of my own, and then listen to what anthony did, and they are usually extremely similar to each other. I don't have any of his books, but I do have a few recordings. Yes I am enrolled in the music program here at Austin peay. I play for the University choir and other than that just perform as part of my Major in Performance. Thats all.

  • They don't offer anything like this in any university that I know of. Otherwise I would have liked to have gone there. Hope this helps. If you need anything, I'll be glad to try and help you.

  • would love to see you break down some runs to share with the rest of us. We need lessons from you and would appreciate if you would share some of your talent with those of us who desire to play better.

  • Sure, that sounds like a great idea. I will have to either get a webcam or something. I'm not real sure how i will do that. But be on the lookout for them. I will see what I can do. Maybe I'll have some spare time at college. We will see what the Lord blesses me with. Thanks.

  • hi this is sandraz1634's grandson, she emailed me this video and i have to say you did a great job! :)

  • Thanks. Glad you enjoyed!

  • Hi Wil, Thanks for the feed back. I had my neighbor to watch your piano playing and she loved it very much and also thinks Bill Gaither should hear you play. He would probably hire you on the spot. She also thought the camera man should focus more on your hands playing the keys. She could not get over how well you played. Again good luck at college. Stay in touch with your fans and God Bless You.

  • Wil---You have done it again! Your talent is just incredible. My grandchilden and Myself just love hearing your new songs. Just wondering if you are working on Anthony Burger's piece, "We Shall Behold Him"? A wonderful song. We are hoping you will still have time for the piano as you start college. Best of luck to you and God Bless.

  • Thanks again. I'm glad that you enjoy listening to what I play. Lord knows I'm tired of hearing myself play them over and over and over. haha! I am working on "We Shall Behold Him", but not the same arrangement as Anthony Burger.

  • I couldn't find the track that he used. So it will be much more original to myself than to will be to Anthony. I probably wont get to play it until Easter 2008.

  • I leave tomorrow morning for college at Austin Peay. But don't worry I'm majoring in Piano Performance, so theres nothing to keep me away from the piano. Also if you have any suggestions for songs that you might want me to play, let me know. I'm all out of ideas. Again thanks for your support, it really means a lot. God Bless. -Wil (wow, under 500 characters is really hard!)

  • Don't be so modest, Wil! That was great! I like your original lead ins, and outtakes even better than the song itself! Probably not the best quality recording, but ... Good work! Dennis

  • awesome job once again Wil. Keep it up and you will go places. I hope Bill Gaither gets to hear you. Maybe Stan Whitmire can hear you when he comes to town. Your Brother

  • I just realized that this actually was audible in the video, but before the show I was practicing, and got a little carried away and knocked the piano out of tune. It was tuned early in the week, and me and the other pianist beat the snot out of it, playing stuff like this, and I guess we knocked it out of tune. Sorry. But it wasn't to bad.
