Sebastian is splendid, but he isnt a dandy. Dandyism is the opposite of extremity, which is exactly what Sebastian is about. Dandyism is subdued and stylish, as opposed to extravagant and garish.

Until Barbey's 1844 Du Dandysme et de George Brummell, the dandy was associated with the fop. The dandy according to Barbey and later, Baudelaire, was a different breed which, thanks to Barbey and Baudelaire made the dandy into something more than social climbing man of style. Just look at the type of dandy who came in their wake, Benjamin Disraeli, Jean Lorrain, Oscar Wilde, Arthur Symons, and Max Beerbohm are just a few who come to mind. Sebastian has little in common with true dandyism.
