He is so full of shit!!! He has an opinion on everything. In one interview he's talking about how Bill Cosby is wrong for the comments he made about the Black community and next he's talking about hip-hop battles. I find it hard to believe he actually listened to Jay-Z's or Nas' albums. If you notice, whatever the topic, his demeanor changes. He's Mr. Educated Black Man when speaking with some people, but notice how his posture and speach patterns change when discussing Hip-Hop. He's so phony!
@IDANJATAY i think his posture and demeanor is just a result of grass roots communication training. One of the key rules is to KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE and he definitely changes his delivery based on the viewing audience which can come across as being fake or phony. I'm not defending him but being in communications I know the strategy.
not everybody gives hip hop a chance and actually listens to it and instead pulls out the bad you may be right about not needing him to translate for you but that can only apply to people who like it and are willing to listen to it not people who are critical about it

Dyson needs to stop jockin' rappers and be creative with his shit. I'm so sick of this clown trying to explain everything with his bullshit rhetoric. Jay Z's doing something Dyson can't do...why does Dyson keep going on and on about it? We know how to listen to rap music and get the meaning out of the words. We don't need this clown to translate the message for us. Dyson needs to stop the maddness and come correct and creative.
Although MED ain't no heavy freestyler i'd buy his album... the piece of mind you'll receive from his album will undoubtedly be a righteous one. Listen to his poetry and flow the man has Hip-Hop in 'em!
This guy blows my mind, he knows how to play with words and put them together so intellectually and so articulately it's just ridiculous. The only thing is, when he starts talking sometimes he can't stop...lol
that freestyle was wack lol, but dude is a genius. i loved that peice he did on Tupac. he actually broke it all down to a philosophy that he teaches at Georgetown- MADD RESPECT
Because big record companies' dictate what we hear. Their only desire and responsibility is to make money, and the easiest, most expedient way to do that is to continue to play mindless, lazy tunes about bling, boobs, and booze. Socially progressive hip hop music, for example, is considered controversial and not commerical enough to become part of the mainstream media. That's why these artists produce their music under independent record labels.
Love this dude. Not always right, but always thoughtful.
