I dont know ir you have noticed, but around the 6:55 minute, you can see a glitch where you have 36 Pikmin with you, but only 34 in the field. Sometimes this glitch happens with this boss, its kinda weird

Also, he's an anti Mamuta as he plucks up Pikmin and kills them, unlike the mamuta which plants and flowers pikmin.

Umm... you know that if you have 50 pikmin out, you will get 50 seeds, and the remaining 50 will be stored inside the onion? It saves you a WHOLE lot of time plucking your pikmin out.

Are you sure this is only on Day 15? If the events in New Play Control are the same as the original. the egg should appear on any day before the sixteenth.

Also, the Smoky Progg's "roar" causes planted pikmin to be uprooted from the ground.

When the Smoky Progg goes to an onion and screams ( or makes rays or something like that) while standing temporarily, it actually uproots pikmin then kills them. That is why Olimar thinks he is a malformed Mamuta, Mamutas slam pikmin in the groung, while the Smoky Progg plucks (uproots) them.

i was playing this level for the first time on the Wii version. when it was about afternoon (in the game) i suddenly noticed that some of my pikmin weren't with the rest of the group. they must have broken apart from my group to start beating on that giant egg. then Smoky Progg appeared on the corner of my screen (almost as if he just came out of nowhere.) he started heading toward my base and i tried to kill him. i went to the onion to get more, but he just ate the pikmin as they came down.

When you have too many Pikmin out, the rest of the guys will stay in the onion.

So if you had 100 Piks out, and you used the seed to make 100 more, no Pikmin will appear outside, but their will be 100 more Pikmin in the onion.

Actually you can find him on any day that's before day 16, not just day 15.

Whenever I got a lot of pikmin forming at once, I just withdraw a whole bunch so I don't have to pluck anything. This becomes irrelevant once you get Pikmin 2's Pluckaphone.

actually, the pikmin you cant hold get put in the onion, atleast its like that in the gamecube version. the best way to kill it is to take one blue and 99 reds. seperate them bring the blue to lure him out. let it die then run back. when he comes to your base, tank him with your reds. he'll die quickly, you still get a nice gain, and it feels like a normal creature, atleast this is how i did it

its not true that if u have 50 pikmin and get a 100 pikmin corpse that you will only get 50 pikmin from it u will get all 100 its just 50 u will have to pluck but the rest just get plucked instantly in the onion
