  • great..loved it! very much useful!

  • I was just thinking since it's basically an apt-get script that depends on the sources... once you installed a newer version and had the appropriate distro repositories in Synaptic, the same file would still import the newer stuff, wouldn't it? I keep a list I run as a script the same way but this is much easier.

  • yea it would get the new version of the package, since most of the package names dont change much, but for the ones that does change u have to install it manually if u remember which ur missing =) but overall i would use this for new versions. Is all base on the exact names in the list thats all. In most case naming is vlc not vlc1.0~abcd ...etc so u should be good

  • how do i save the sourcelist and the keyfile?

  • I guess this is great for people who just are beginning to use Ubuntu. I use a script to remove all the stuff i don't want like ekiga, transmission etc. and install what i want. That' s also very easy but i wouldn't recommend somebody who is just beginning to use Ubuntu. Great video gotbletu.

  • \M/

  • Now he tells me. This is so much easier than reloading everything as I had been doing in the past. Gotbletu, gettin it done. Thanks man.

  • Hey that's really cool. Never heard of this feature. Keep up the great videos.

  • What GUI enviroment are you using? Or is that something custom made?

  • its gnome. the top is a panel that has been told to not expand all the way, and the bottom is gnome-do with the docky option enabled

  • I've been keeping a text file with the names of the main packages I installed so I can sudo apt-get install and then paste the list. But this is WAY easier! When you export settings as well does it get all the third party sources you've added as well?

  • well that u have to save the sourcelist and the key file, but yea this markings saves the 3rd packages also. Basically anything u have installed will be in the full list

  • Really cool. Thanks!

  • dope, dope, this one is a life saver

  • quality isnt the best in this one but thz dude your a big help =)
