i love how everyone says the steelers cheat because the beat them. grow a pair people!!quit your complaining and wining becausethe steelers dont cheat! the refs made the right calls! if anyone cheats, its the patriots!!!
Seattle had more yards, more 1st downs, forced more turn overs and had the longest drive in super bowl history and yet the Steelers had twice as many points at the end. Seems fair to me! lmao
ok, as a steeler fan here's what i think. the first penalty (offensive pass interferance via push-off) was legit, the other two were dodgy. but... i remember Seattle's weird clock-management at the end of the first half when they burned 2 mins off the clock for only an FG. and they couldn't stop the pittsburgh ground attack all game.
also, why isn't the penalty against Hasslebeck for blocking somebody mentioned? he threw an INT and then gets penalised. that was odd. and embarrasing for fans
For Dick LeBeau and the other steelers saying that they penalties would had not changed the outcome........A pass interference on TD and a holding call (on a guy who was indeed offsides) on a pass down to the one and having Shaun Alexander when he was the best in football bet your ass he was getting in.
fuck you hines ward, and fuck that guy that said seattle didnt come up with big plays when they needed to... they got 3 touch downs, 2 taken away.. thats 24 points even if you let the steal-ers have their 21 which is really 14. 24-14 Seahawks won Super Bowl XL and we all know it. Go Seahawks Super bowl Champs!
why don't u just admit you've won 5 super bowls which is plenty , so shut the fuck up steeler fags! the rest of the country besides Seattle thinks that SB was a fucking joke. It was about as legit as a woman finding Rapistberger attractive
If we had a nickel for everytime a cryhawk whined about that game we would solve the Nations debt ten times. Its not our fault your team cant win against us. GO STEELERS!!
I'm not a fan of either team. But the Steelers like usual got all the calls their way. Ben didn't cross the line, that push off was nothing I've seen WR's do worse and the DB get called instead. Sure the Steelers made some plays but it's the same story. If you're PIT or NE and now it seems GB you get calls your way. Their fans will deny it but it's true. Not saying SEA would have won, but they would have been closer with a fair reffed game.
Listen up fellas. Yes im a Seahawk fan so I am going to be a little bais, even though I dont think I am when I say the refs sucked. That was a weak PI call in the endzone...its football. It would of been 4th down if Big ben didnt get handed the TD and seahawks had the best goal line d in the league and steelers were holding all game and the only hold called was that one? Give me a break Bill leavy
I was 13 when i saw the Seahawks play the Steelers and even then i knew that the Seahawks got absolutely robbed. Worst officiating i ever saw and i didn't even know half the rules.
Clear foul, you cant push off as a reciever and then catch the ball. I'm tired of these bitch ass Steelers Bandwagons saying "We won fair and square" that Super Bowl was the most fixed NFL game i've ever seen it was complete Bull Shit the Steelers and Patriots get the most Bull shit calls from the refs sucking their dicks so much
@violenceteacher6669 I think it is true that successful franchises do get the benefit of the doubt in certain situations. Its the same as when bad teams don't get the benefit, its something you need to earn from the refs and the league.
WAHH FUCKING WAHH SEASUCK FANS. Did the officials make hines ward wide open too?! Did they make randel el throw a perfect pass?! Shut the hell up you douchebags, take a loss like true football fans.
@reuter51 no hines ward pushing off his cb made hime wide open but did he get called for that? nope granted seahawks didn't make plays when they needed to but you talk about a one-sided refing job this will be the game that comes up every time.
ima massive seahawks fan, that number 8 superbowl was bullshit, not just cause oh they lost so im gonna complain, but all 3 of those calls, were unbelievable, surprised that game didnt end up like the browns/jaguars game, its okay cause Karma is a bitch steelers
I get really pissed seeing comments such as "Get over it" How the fuck do we get over it? The damn steeler fans on the sidelines are saying that Ben wasnt in on that play, Damn we work hard to get our ring and the damn refs take it away.
@MushroomSlapable I know but its the Super Bowl one of the biggest sports games in america, you dont just see a shitty super bowl and walk away and say "Oh well"
3rd and 1....Pitta is being held the entire time, no call and Cundiff misses a field goal. Funny how in the 1st quarter when Brady threw his first interception they flew a flag for less contact on Webb, and waited till after it was picked to throw the flag.
@GBfan006 my god even the king of france comments on you tube although i wouldnt admit im the king of the country that every considerds to be GAY AS HELL!!! and full of cowards
@scottabreitbarth i believe you mean that i capitalized gay as hell seeing as i was getting my point across that France is full of gay ass bitches like yourself
@AKdrifter5145 does your team have six superbowls.............. thats what i thought at least we made it to the playoffs our qb walking on a peg leg and our star center out
@scottabreitbarth wow weak comeback in order to even get to a superbowl you have to be damn good so they earned every single one of those championships
"did it the hard way" how is cheating by using the refs the hard way? the steelers fans and players cant even admit that the calls were fucked up, they're saying they won fairly which makes it worse
After Superbowl XL and the amount of calls he blew in the Packers/Giants Divisional Playoff game (which thankfully didn't cost the Giants), I really hope that Leavy never steps foot on football field as an official ever again.
That bill leavy is a fucking cheater!!!!! I am a Giants fan and he tried to do us in against the packers!!!!! I feel you Seahawks you guys got robbed by a peace of shit ref who should be fired and investigated meaning they should check what he's worth I
Betcha he has was more money than he should from officiating!!!!! He's a peace of shit and should be lynched!!!!!
@toadman842 "That was a hold, the defender might have been offside, but those kind of calls are made in every game?" This wasn't just every game. If the officials had wanted to get it right, they would have. "After reviewing the play, prior to the throw, the defender had a false start, resulting in holding. Five yard penalty, result is first down." I actually agree with the touchdown run too. As for the push off, those types of push-offs "are made in every game" and don't get called against.
@toadman842 dude, They called that so-called "push off" against the seahawks, yet later Hines Ward pushed a defender's helmet and it wasn't called. The worst part of that game was that they called things on the Seahawks that they didn't on the Steelers.
@mclarenf101 I have the game on dvd, dipshit. I don't need to watch anything else. Just because they call one thing that was borderline doesn't mean they're gonna catch every fucking penalty in the game. This shit happens in every fucking game in the NFL. I could literally sit down and pick out a handful of plays that were bullshit against the Steelers.
It also doesn't mean Seattle "should have won," like all these dipshit Seattle fans keep saying after all these bitter years, LOL.
@toadman842 I love how you call me a "dipshit" for not knowing that you had the game on dvd. All I'm saying is that the momentum really changed because of those calls. Oh, and by the way, why the fuck do you have that game on dvd? You couldn't of chosen a worse game to have on dvd....
@TheCrazyeyeskillah Absolutely! The Giants would have ROUTED the Packers, let alone defeated them, had it not been for 2 particualarly terrible calls!!! (Down by contact, roughing the passer)
@TheCrazyeyeskillah What matters is the Giants still beat the Packers, and they're one week away from doing the same thing to the Patriots. If a team is good enough to beat the refs, you know they're good enough to win a Super Bowl.
those three penalties weren't the only ones. There were more unfair calls in SB XL against the Seahawks. Sure, the Steeler's fans say Seattle didn't do enough to win, but it was the issue of the momentum. There were so many momentum sapping unfair calls against the Hawks that they were grounded from ever truly taking off, dragged by the unfair calls. Someone has to be accountable - not just the apology by the head ref after 6 years. There seemed collaboration among the refs, even.
@Evile9669 why in the fuck must I be a cowboy fan? I am actually a 49er fan dipshit...YOU explain how you came to the conclusion I was a cowboy fan? You must be a stoolers fan that's for sure.
@Evile9669 you know I actually feel bad I was kind of a dick. Anyway... it's a shame the steelers lost to the broncos, now this tebow crap is all you hear about. I am sick of it and hope the pats hand them their ass tonight. Everyone pretends like they pulled a miracle upset when in reality they BARELY beat a very injured team that was not playing well. Good luck next season btw, and sorry for the insults.
2nd worst game ive ever seen other than Super Bowl XL, the 2009 NFC Championship game, the Vikings vs Saints.. They handed the game to the saints with horrible calls!!!
@BUFbison23: That's fucking bull and you know it. Don't give me that, Refs gave the game to the Saints? I bet you're a Viking fan still bitter after that game huh? There's two people you NEED to blame and its Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson for throwing interceptions and fumbling more than once in that game. I respect Vikings for giving us a run for our money even with those mistakes but face it the better prepared team won that day.
So the Bears don't count a Packers victory because it was the result of a very bad call by the officials? OK, I guess that means they also don't count their own victory on opening day 2010 when a very bad call by the refs took away a Calving Johnson TD and the Lions got robbed.
Er, Marv....not all seven officials have an unobstructed view of the player with the ball. Some of them have an assignment that requires them to look elsewhere downfield. BTW, the "holy roller" proves that not all calls go against the Raiders
12:40 lolololol They DID have big plays, and you know "surprisingly" when the big plays happened is when the flags happened << another thing i wanted to point out is I barely saw any flags on short gains by the hawks but when they got big gains, flags are soaring like crazy? Hm....
"Don't find too much fault with the umps (or refs), you cannot expect them to be as perfect as you are." Every team, every game has bad calls, if you have to rely on them to win or blame them on your loss its just sad. If you still whine over them after years, well then your just pathetic.
I would like to see how the Steelers fans would react if they were the losing team. How pissed would they be if they saw Matt Hasselbeck coming up an inch short of the goal line but its still called a TD? Or Hines Ward TD called back for a bogus holding call? Or Ward getting flag for OPI? The NFL knew the outcome of the game before it even started
@SEAallday206 You know, i hear you fucking Seattle fans bitch about every little thing you can about the Superbowl, never ONCE owning up to the truth: YOU'RE TEAM DIDN'T PLAY WELL ENOUGH TO WIN. It's always some excuse with you people, never the fact that Pittsburgh might have, just might have, been the BETTER TEAM. ...GASP...
@toadman842 I'll say that the Steelers played well enough to defeat a Seahawks team that was shafted by the refs. Neither team played there best football but whenever Seattle got close, there was a flag on the play. Also, if you want to go back to the regular season, Seahawks were 13-3 and Steelers were 11-5 ....GAASSSSSSSSSSSPPP.....
@feedthemachine400 Yeah, I would agree with that. I would probably still bitch and complain but there are still another 5 SB wins to fall back on. Being from Seattle, the reason this killed fans so much is because we never win the big game/series. We always come up short. So when you have a chance to win the biggest game in all of sports but the ref admits to blowing calls that affected the game, it pisses you off. This on top of OKC killing it when they should be in Seattle.
wow i've never watched the browns unless its against my hawks (6-3 in an abomination of a game) but the #9 play should be much higher considering they backtracked to review it. cleveland snapped the ball, no review, end of story. sorry cleveland
At least the referees in the Steeler-Seahawk Superbowl a couple years later admitted they made mistakes that changed the outcome of the game. Because they did.
It was after watching Superbowl XL that I could never watch an NFL game without that twist in my stomach. The views are obviously varied; Steelers fans say nothing was unfair, while Seahawks fans can't think about it without that look in their eyes. The fact of the matter is, though, there was clearly a definite force against the Seahawks and a push for the Steelers to win the game. America loves an underdog story, but this was the NFL's ultimate screwjob.
@scottabreitbarth - You may be right. The NFL and America wanted to see the Steelers finally get that 5th win, and Bettis and Cowher finally get their rings. The Seahawks weren't viewed as underdogs, they were viewed as being in the way of that.
@scottabreitbarth i completely agree with you. it was the first time 2 weeks ago that ref officiated in seattle since that superbowl. it wasnt just the bad calls on seattle it was all the no call's on the steelers that made it such a terrible game. you have to call it both sides and the steelers got away with a lot that game. a ref never wants to impact a game. in this superbowl XL they decided who was going to win and seattle never had a shot
@scottabreitbarth wow if anything the refs were for seattle . what game were you watching . I guess the huge run that the steelers ran was a refs mistake . get over it
@Evile9669 Don't put words in my mouth. I'm not a Seahawks fan. I'm not even anti-Steelers. I'm just not an NFL fan anymore because of the bowl. As for the run, that was a great play but the psychological effects of calls have always been high in the sport: it is more unlikely that it wouldn't have happened were it not for the holding penalty.
@punkrocker867 your a fucking retard to beging with dumbass DID U WATCH DA GAME boy are you lost ... It was a fair fucking game get over it move on with your pathetic life loser dumbass
@punkrocker867 I guess willie parkers run was fixed also huh so was Santonio Holmes catch in the endzone with 37 seconds left .. yea your fucking BRAIN DEAD
@toadman842 Completely disagree with you, and I'm not a fan of either. All of those calls were fishy. The Rothlisberger touchdown was 100% a blown call, as the ball did not cross the plane of the end zone. The Steelers could have been stopped on fourth down, had they played it.
@klamath632 Well, it was called touchdown, and it was a tough call to make In real-time. There was nothing definitive on the replay, so they couldn't overturn it.
Also, if you look at the replay, the nose of the ball did break the end zone.
Either way, Seattle fans should own up to the fact that Seattle gave up several big plays, and didn't make enough of their own to win. That's why they lost. It's not like there was a totally wrong call that decided the outcome of the game.
@toadman842 I respectfully disagree. The Seattle Seahawks made huge plays and were extremely close to clinching the game in the 4th quarter. That tacky holding call not only pushed them back, the pressure got into Hasselback's head and he threw an interception. If the referees had gotten it right, it's less likely that such an incident would have occurred.
@scottabreitbarth Close to "CLINCHING"? HA. Maybe close to taking a slim lead, IF they had scored on that drive, but that doesn't mean Pittsburgh wouldn't have come back and regained the lead. At no point was Seattle close to "clinching" the game. You might wanna rephrase that.
Also you say it "got into Hasselback's head." Well, too bad for him. If you want to win on that level, you have to play through adversity.
Point is, maybe Seattle didn't play WELL ENOUGH TO WIN...GASP...
@toadman842 The team was definitely good enough to come back and clinch the win. There was barely minutes left on the game clock when that third play happened; that was the final shot. Pittsburgh has never won a Superbowl in the past decade without key and tacky calls moved in their favor. For the NFL, a popular, old team like the Steelers making a comeback?
@scottabreitbarth Wrong. That last "bad call" occurred with about 10 minutes left, and Pittsburgh led by 4. Pittsburgh scored on the following drive on the Ward touchdown, making it a two possession game. You guys then turned it over on downs on the next drive, and Pittsburgh got a first down on the following drive, eating up more time. Seattle got the ball back with a minuet to go, and failed to score, and the game ended. Go back and check the facts before you talk.
@toadman842 I knew that, buddy. I was referring to the statistics of the actually scoring rate per minute of the game. And here's the quote: "I kicked two calls in the fourth quarter and I impacted the game, and as an official, you never want to do that.
It left me with a lot of sleepless nights, and I think about it constantly," Leavy said of the February 2006 game. "I'll go to my grave wishing that I'd been better." And for the last time I'm not a Seattle fan. I'm anti-NFL because of the game.
@toadman842 The game was so bad, even the head ref came out a few years ago and said he "screwed up" big time in the calling. Look it up. Seattle definitely had potential to win the game, don't deny it. And if you're just arguing because you want us to shut up about our one shot, good luck. Seahawk fans will make sure you'll be the first person to false start on Youtube.
@scottabreitbarth HAHA, what exactly did the ref say? You're embellishing things.
Look at my other post directed at other Seattle morons here where i break shit down. You guys just need to accept that your team ran into a hot Steeler team, and Seattle didn't make enough plays to win. Get over it.
The Seahawks dominated every aspect of Super Bowl XL except for bribing the refs. Seattle was better on offense, defense, special teams... everything. But, the NFL wanted Pittsburgh to win and the refs were obviously instructed to make that happen.
Most of what i hear from the Stealers' fans is "We won. Fair or not, bottom line is we won". That's great, if you cut out the refs then would you say that all the Stealers' opponents have a solid chance to beat the Stealers during their super bowl runs too?
Any football wise person has to know that the officials have been crooked numerous times-usually involving just the spread. Troy P.'s pick six against Denver, when the refs took the points off of the board, on a play that nobody questioned, that didn't change the outcome-only the spread, where the replays showed that there was no foul but the ref made one up, is the worst. Ed Hochuli ring a bell? How many outcomes have his bullshit calls changed? Fact: Not all but some games are fixed.
Superowl XL was the NFL equivalent of the 2002 WCF between the Lakers and Kings. Manipulated and complete horseshit. The worst Superbowl I've ever seen because the refs determined the winner and Shittsburgh was the beneficiary.
@realityright wow your lost buddy the refs were all for seattle ..Im a huge steeler fan and yes we lost last year but im not crying about it ..grow up man
@Evile9669 The refs were all for Seattle!!???? I can honestly say that shittsburgh fans are the most deluded in the entire sports world. It's well accepted that Seattle got screwed in Superbowl XL, except by stealer fans. Incredible. Harrison didn't deserve a suspension for a helmet to helmet hit either, right? Shittsburgh fans are just completely lost.
@realityright that was a clean hit get over it man your bottom feeder team sucks as bad as the lame ass shit you and these other fuckups make up in your pathetic head ..your delusional WOW
steelers fans and the fanbase is and always has been delusional.

2: Ben got in, and if they didn't the steelers said the were going for it on 4th and inches, so they probably would have scored anyway

As for the push off, those types of push-offs "are made in every game" and don't get called against.
scottabreitbarth 1 month ago

@TheCrazyeyeskillah Absolutely! The Giants would have ROUTED the Packers, let alone defeated them, had it not been for 2 particualarly terrible calls!!! (Down by contact, roughing the passer)
noex100 4 weeks ago
@TheCrazyeyeskillah What matters is the Giants still beat the Packers, and they're one week away from doing the same thing to the Patriots. If a team is good enough to beat the refs, you know they're good enough to win a Super Bowl.

For the steelers at Seahawks I can see the touchdown was good but the other two calls were shady
bedgoodfan88 1 month ago
those three penalties weren't the only ones.

"Seven of ya didn't see it?"

The NFL knew the outcome of the game before it even started

toadman842 1 month ago
@toadman842 I'll say that the Steelers played well enough to defeat a Seahawks team that was shafted by the refs. Neither team played there best football but whenever Seattle got close, there was a flag on the play. Also, if you want to go back to the regular season, Seahawks were 13-3 and Steelers were 11-5 ....GAASSSSSSSSSSSPPP.....
SEAallday206 1 month ago
@SEAallday206 and what would u say if ur team had six superbowls ur point of view would be completely different
feedthemachine400 1 month ago
@feedthemachine400 Yeah, I would agree with that. I would probably still bitch and complain but there are still another 5 SB wins to fall back on. Being from Seattle, the reason this killed fans so much is because we never win the big game/series. We always come up short. So when you have a chance to win the biggest game in all of sports but the ref admits to blowing calls that affected the game, it pisses you off. This on top of OKC killing it when they should be in Seattle.
SEAallday206 1 month ago
wow i've never watched the browns unless its against my hawks (6-3 in an abomination of a game) but the #9 play should be much higher considering they backtracked to review it. cleveland snapped the ball, no review, end of story. sorry cleveland

At least the referees in the Steeler-Seahawk Superbowl a couple years later admitted they made mistakes that changed the outcome of the game. Because they did.
zenmachinefilms 2 months ago
I'm limited on space (characters):
It was after watching Superbowl XL that I could never watch an NFL game without that twist in my stomach. The views are obviously varied; Steelers fans say nothing was unfair, while Seahawks fans can't think about it without that look in their eyes. The fact of the matter is, though, there was clearly a definite force against the Seahawks and a push for the Steelers to win the game. America loves an underdog story, but this was the NFL's ultimate screwjob.
scottabreitbarth 2 months ago 21
@scottabreitbarth Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels the Seahawks got screwed.
klct2006 2 months ago
@scottabreitbarth - You may be right. The NFL and America wanted to see the Steelers finally get that 5th win, and Bettis and Cowher finally get their rings. The Seahawks weren't viewed as underdogs, they were viewed as being in the way of that.
zenmachinefilms 2 months ago
@scottabreitbarth i completely agree with you. it was the first time 2 weeks ago that ref officiated in seattle since that superbowl. it wasnt just the bad calls on seattle it was all the no call's on the steelers that made it such a terrible game. you have to call it both sides and the steelers got away with a lot that game. a ref never wants to impact a game. in this superbowl XL they decided who was going to win and seattle never had a shot
tymorse22 1 month ago
@scottabreitbarth wow if anything the refs were for seattle . what game were you watching . I guess the huge run that the steelers ran was a refs mistake . get over it

@Evile9669 Don't put words in my mouth. I'm not a Seahawks fan. I'm not even anti-Steelers. I'm just not an NFL fan anymore because of the bowl. @scottabreitbarth Completely disagree, and i'm not a fan of either. Most of those calls were legit.
toadman842 1 month ago
@toadman842 Completely disagree with you, and I'm not a fan of either. All of those calls were fishy. The Rothlisberger touchdown was 100% a blown call, as the ball did not cross the plane of the end zone. The Steelers could have been stopped on fourth down, had they played it.
klamath632 1 month ago
@klamath632 Well, it was called touchdown, and it was a tough call to make In real-time. There was nothing definitive on the replay, so they couldn't overturn it.
Also, if you look at the replay, the nose of the ball did break the end zone.
Either way, Seattle fans should own up to the fact that Seattle gave up several big plays, and didn't make enough of their own to win. That's why they lost. It's not like there was a totally wrong call that decided the outcome of the game.
toadman842 1 month ago
@toadman842 I respectfully disagree. The Seattle Seahawks made huge plays and were extremely close to clinching the game in the 4th quarter. That tacky holding call not only pushed them back, the pressure got into Hasselback's head and he threw an interception. If the referees had gotten it right, it's less likely that such an incident would have occurred.
scottabreitbarth 1 month ago
@scottabreitbarth Close to "CLINCHING"? HA. Maybe close to taking a slim lead, IF they had scored on that drive, but that doesn't mean Pittsburgh wouldn't have come back and regained the lead. At no point was Seattle close to "clinching" the game. You might wanna rephrase that.
Also you say it "got into Hasselback's head." Well, too bad for him. If you want to win on that level, you have to play through adversity.
Point is, maybe Seattle didn't play WELL ENOUGH TO WIN...GASP...
toadman842 1 month ago
@toadman842 The team was definitely good enough to come back and clinch the win. There was barely minutes left on the game clock when that third play happened; that was the final shot. Pittsburgh has never won a Superbowl in the past decade without key and tacky calls moved in their favor. For the NFL, a popular, old team like the Steelers making a comeback?
scottabreitbarth 1 month ago
@scottabreitbarth Wrong. That last "bad call" occurred with about 10 minutes left, and Pittsburgh led by 4. Pittsburgh scored on the following drive on the Ward touchdown, making it a two possession game. You guys then turned it over on downs on the next drive, and Pittsburgh got a first down on the following drive, eating up more time. Seattle got the ball back with a minuet to go, and failed to score, and the game ended. Go back and check the facts before you talk.
toadman842 1 month ago
@toadman842 I knew that, buddy. I was referring to the statistics of the actually scoring rate per minute of the game. And here's the quote: "I kicked two calls in the fourth quarter and I impacted the game, and as an official, you never want to do that.
It left me with a lot of sleepless nights, and I think about it constantly," Leavy said of the February 2006 game. "I'll go to my grave wishing that I'd been better." And for the last time I'm not a Seattle fan. I'm anti-NFL because of the game.
scottabreitbarth 1 month ago
@toadman842 The game was so bad, even the head ref came out a few years ago and said he "screwed up" big time in the calling. Look it up. Seattle definitely had potential to win the game, don't deny it. And if you're just arguing because you want us to shut up about our one shot, good luck. Seahawk fans will make sure you'll be the first person to false start on Youtube.
scottabreitbarth 1 month ago
@scottabreitbarth HAHA, what exactly did the ref say? You're embellishing things.

Most of what i hear from the Stealers' fans is "We won. Fair or not, bottom line is we won". That's great, if you cut out the refs then would you say that all the Stealers' opponents have a solid chance to beat the Stealers during their super bowl runs too?

LivinWorstNightmare 2 months ago 4
Any football wise person has to know that the officials have been crooked numerous times-usually involving just the spread. Troy P.'s pick six against Denver, when the refs took the points off of the board, on a play that nobody questioned, that didn't change the outcome-only the spread, where the replays showed that there was no foul but the ref made one up, is the worst. Ed Hochuli ring a bell? How many outcomes have his bullshit calls changed? Fact: Not all but some games are fixed.
