I think even the Noahide laws are what the apostles were talking about when they were wanting to give a minimum set of rules for gentiles who were turning to G-d, so they could attend the Synagogue and learn the TORAH without causing offense (Acts15:29).
If you gave this to a messianic jew he would agree with everything it says as would Yeshua the Messiah who kept all the TORAH perfectly and told others to do so. He was a Jew, crucified by Roman gentiles and came to turn the Jews back to G-d and teach TORAH correctly.
What about the 0.00001% of believers in Yeshua who don't believe He is Eyn Sof & keep both the written and oral Torahs with the only exception being their belief that Yeshua is the Mashiach who will soon come back and fight against all the Muslim nations and setup a Torah kingdom from the river Nile to the river Euphrates?
This is no less ridiculous than what Christians believe, though..
How about -- please do forget god, and instead focus on living a moral, Good life and trying to increase the well-being of every living creature? That seems a bit more honorable (and rational) to me.
@straygypsy As opposed to altering the original Pledge of Allegiance, trying to legislate religious morality, opposing scientific progress, and censoring truth?
The lawsuits aren't about money or attention. They're challenges to the social norm, attempts to wake people up, combat religiously-initiated legislative moves, and most importantly to get people talking about these issues because the more people discuss, the more truth will spread, and the better off we'll all be with less religion.
@straygypsy Regardless of ALL of that, there's still the question of the truth of your beliefs. Nothing the "new atheist" movement does says anything about the truth or falsity of certain beliefs and I would still maintain aside from all of that, that yours are false. And both matter. So even if you're "right" that atheists aren't doing more good, that still doesn't make your religion true. You'd still be living a lie and continuing to spread it throughout the world.
Because I don't want my people infested with your drugs and immorality makes me a bad person?
I guess if we all just put people in jail for going to a church / synagogue and rewarded people for shooting heroin getting rid of laws that would be paradise for you wouldn't it?
@straygypsy Because your living a lie affects you, me, and everyone else. There's no such thing as a meaningful truly-held belief that exists in a vacuum with no consequence to reality. Beliefs affect actions.
What drugs and immorality? I'm straight-edge, for one. Theists are arguably the most immoral of all people.
Re: jail -- No, that's something you would do. I'm strongly against such things. Getting rid of laws though -- yes, ideally we'd all be responsible enough to live without laws.
@straygypsy See my additional comment made just after you posted this response.
Congratulations on earliest resort to ad hominem attacks due to having nothing worthwhile to say.
I went to a college that teaches us how to land on the Moon and fight cancer. What did your college teach you how to do? Pray? *laugh*
Yes, American. And like I said, living without laws is IDEAL but UNREALISTIC. I have a dual-stance on everything -- one of principle and one of practicality. Do not confuse them.
Unfortunately, some sort of legal system seems to be quite necessary.
Also, way to fallaciously associate atheism with several different political viewpoints. You don't even know what my views are, do you? For starters, I'm a Republican. I also TEND to like things said by people such as Ron Paul (smaller gov't), but sometimes his ideas seem a little unrealistic. Anyway, yea. Go on making your baseless generalizations =)
No..people shouldnt go to jail for going to a church or synagogue , nor for "shooting" themselves with heroin. Throwing someone in jail with murderers and rapists , because he shoots or smokes anything is wrong. You don't have the right to punish someone for ingesting something , you don't like ..
Government prohibition didn't work for alcohol and it doesn't work for heroin , cocaine or marijuana..It only creates cartels and violence.
No it's your logic, not mine...We don't create murder, rape and roberry by prohibiting those activities, because they are legitimate prohibitions..However, when governments prohibit personal habits, like smoking a certain plant or drinking alcohol ( fermented dead plant material that produces alcohol ) or women showing their hair in public..that leads to the creation of cartels/mafia ( murder, robbery..etc ) and tyranny.
That's good that you don't put harmful substances in your body, however if you did the solution wouldn't be to throw you in prison with rapists and murderers..Nor is it government prohibition, which only creates a black market for the drugs and violent cartels.
More..Marijuana / Cannabis is not a dangerous substance..Alcohol and tobacco are more addictive and harmful than Cannabis.
About 5 years ago I made a few tracts... I still have them... but you've done it the right way. Mine were overly theological. That doesn't appeal to most people. We need presentations which give an overall feel for Torah and why it is worthwhile for them.... in addition to more detailed theological teaching for those who are ready.
I'm gonna try to work with the idea you've presented here and make similar things if you don't mind.
When I was a christian I couldn't help but sit in the church and ask myself, "why am I worshipping a guy nailed to a cross? doesn't that seem as though I'm worshipping someone other than God?". The idea of worshipping a man god who came to a gruesome end pretty much smacks in the face of common sense which even as a child I could never wrap my head around. The usual excuse is, "oh, its a mystery" when ever the questions got a little too hard, watch out for 'its a mystery' when used by Christians

Let me guess...you are american educated right?
Some of us in this world actually went to colleges that taught more than just gay sex and global warming...
I nominate your post as the most ultra retarded (yet very american) motto of the year,...
congratulations...

@ServeYHWH Using your logic, I guess we should legalize murder, rape and robbery.
Yeah..all these prisons and laws and all this crime still hasn't stopped..
Gee..imagine that!
