There is something I can't explain about what gives it away... (the fact that its a CGI.) But if i had to say, i think that the lips and eyes have a certain "jelly" or "shiny" quality to them that just barely throws it all off.

@mcwiggles1213 It's not just that, it's the kinetics, the way it moves, it doesn't move like a human, it move artificially, obviously robotic. And the eyes and lips being jelly, that's a mistake that can be easily corrected, just lower the shininess property of those surfaces. But the kinetics... Long way to go to fool my eyes... Maybe 50 more years and generations of graphics more...

A common mistake in morph targets is the top lip, volume is increased and not maintained when she smiles, the top lip should thin and stretch rolling under slightly, the corners should raise slightly. It seems to widen yet maintain it's shape.

That is because facial vertices morph movements is akin to the hand of an expert artist. This video proves that there is no universal algorythm. If everyone's face moved the same way then we wouldn't be human....as shown here

This uncanny valley effect is fascinating, and ive thaught about what could make her look disturbing. Material wise and lighting wise it looks photo-realistic, whats missing is how she moves.. its like she is a robot with human flesh and eyes on some animatronic, guess thats why people find it scary..

i think this is actually a real photograph mapped onto a mesh , and the mesh just change de deformation base on the mouse , and the eyes are seperated object :) . i think it was done in Flash .
