  • Do i need to have the turbo boost gadget open to overclock the CPU or is the gadget just to show just much it is on? Please reply

  • @Catalytera it just shows you the status and if you have a slower machine i wouldnt install it

  • What Software are You using To See What Cpu Tempreture??

  • can this thing destroy my cpu while overclocking?

  • i can only download an application for it that runs in the background. I think its not available for the gadget version now, so when you are running it, it will be shown on your task manager.

  • were can i download

  • hey can someone answer something for me? im about to buy a new pc this is the processor....Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 quad-core processor with Turbo-Boost [up to 3.8GHz, 8MB cache] i want this pc for gaming, will i get 3.8 GHz during gameplay? in other words will turbo boost kick in during a game to improve my performance? thanks

  • watch?v=JkEBnffq9XM Is this the same guy?

  • Holy shit he's got a ferrari screen 2:21... 0.o

  • Youtube spam filter disables the link from being added so I'll send this to Linus to add in the description.

  • I have a rather important note for those who want to install this gadget. If you google for "intel turbo boost gadget" you find a download from Intel's website, however thats "Turbo Boost Monitor 2.0", a standalone software and not the gadget you see in Linus video. I actually found the gadget featured in this video.

  • how to enable the turbo boost please help me.......please

  • @akimes02 it's self enabled. Just read on the internet instead of whining for help.

  • Did anybody notice his badass Ferrari monitor?!!

  • how do u over clock it or turbo boost it to its max

  • were do i get tht gadget from

  • what program did you use... the one that enabled the turbo boost to do its thing...?? sorry for my ignorance...:P

  • Does your company know you spend all day doing product reviews on YouTube?

  • u wasted money getting a 975 Xtreme... 970 with its 6 cores is so much cheaper and better

  • omg a ferrari monitor

  • my i5 750 didnt come with this gadget when i bought the new pc :(

  • @HarryHuang1996 you have to download it

  • how do you download that gadget??

  • @ilovetodayy Intel Turbo Boost gadget google it

  • thx, helped alot :)

  • wtf i tried to download and it said i needed windows vista or higher O_o? btw i run vista home premium x64

  • very cool

  • hi can u tell me y i cant play games on my laptop even tho my graphics card is 1.2gb and ram 4gb but my ghz is 2.40ghz plz help me im trying to play gears of war company of heroes and stalker clear sky they all just have like screen lag or something plz help

  • where do you download the box to the left that reads the processor info (core #s, thread # etc)?

  • @mobproctor the first program is Prime95 and the second one is Coretemp.

  • Hey Linus why are you talking so soft all of a sudden? It seems so much less energetic.

  • Hello, here a way to boost Windows. So, open Task Manager, then Prosesses, remove all processes who's not:

    SYSTEM,

    LOCAL SERVICES,

    NETWORK SERVICES.

    So remove all, but not:

    SYSTEM,

    LOCAL SERVICES,

    NETWORK SERVICES.

Ok, then, go to Start, run and type msconfig. Go to Startup and uncheck all of that stuff... restart Windows. A message appear when you restarted Windows. Just click OK.

    Enjoy.

  • nice ;)...

  • where do u download it

  • where make download intel turbo Boost Gadget ??

  • very interesting

  • I dont understand is this intel turbo boost a software overclock?

  • i thought it wasn't a software overclock, and you could turn it off in the bios?

  • Yeah I dont think it is now that i've read a little more though I could be wrong. I think its also only for i5 and i7's.

  • Basically, it slightly overclocks your CPU when it may possibly need more power. :) So just a quick boost. Just the same as it also works with underclocking a CPU when the CPU is at idle, so lower temps - CPU lives longer, and saves power.

  • Ahh I see. Thats a pretty neat gadget. Especially if your comp is always on. Thanks. ^^

  • no. intel turbo boost is within the cpu. it detects if 1 or more clocks are idle, shuts those down, and overclock itself a bit to run single threaded apps faster.

  • @scatmanwfm No its not a software overclock , its just a gadget that show what happens to the CPU with turbo boost enabled

@kozes yes , u can turn it off in bios

  • What all has turbo boost? Just like i5 and i7s?

  • But will the setting be saved every time ? I mean, the turbo mode will be on indiferent if you start the pc off and than again right ?

  • Linus, my friend just bought a new Intel I7, but it is 10degrees betweeen every core, you know whats the problem?

  • During a single thread.

  • I didn't realize i7 1366 would go up 2 with turbo enabled.

  • Where do I download this Gadget???

  • Wow why is the quality so damn good? New camera? WOOOW this is reallly reallly good though!

  • big thx

  • Thx :D

  • As if you started to sing Beyonce hahahaha NICE

  • You sound so calm and orderly...

  • You filmed this video with the Canon SX1 IS?

  • yes

  • ;; too bad i don't have intel be nice for AMD.

  • I want to ask how it works when you Overclocked the CPU ? I mean if u have an 860 and overclock it to 3,2 ghz how will the Turbo boost work?

  • damn! your temps are pretty high for that clock speed...i run a i7 920 overclocked a 4.1 ghz and i don't even go above 80c! Sure i have a thermalright cooler but still...

  • Do you not have water cooling?

  • nope, i'm on air cooling with a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme

  • Hmm, thats pretty good then considering.

  • Nice video, and awesome quality, whatever you're using now, use it always, it's very good.

  • Cool! Keep coming the 1080p vids...

  • where do you download this?

  • Damn first time i see temps that high on core temp damn damn damn !

Everest average would read something like 90+ celcius.

  • bhai wah! turbo boost kardeya. Jabardast hay yeh tho. intel ki jay. Intel jindabad.

  • this is only for i5 , i7 ?

  • It's i7 965 XE (0:30)

  • how are you sure he didn't overclock it, i'm quite sure he's not mistaken or lying that he's using a lynnfield and not a bloomfield.

  • wow look at those temps

  • 10/10 for the wicked 1080p video! nice, hope this camera stays for more unboxings.

  • awsome thanks for posting.

  • Looks pretty useful to me.

  • Great video. 5/5 What temperature would be considered "safe" for a quad core processor like the i7?

is it safe to keep it in the 70s for extended periods of time? Thanks.

  • It really depends on which processor it is. The i7 processors on socket 1366 are safe up to even the mid 80s for an extended period of time. Personally I don't like mine to ever be above 75 but it should not degrade the processor to the point that it dies before you replace it by having it at 80 or 85.

  • The 1080p looks fantastic!

  • Nice!

  • anyone have a download link?

  • oh heck! 50degree on idle? O_o holly hsit... i get scared when my processor turns over 45degrees on full load! its about 34 on idle

  • 75 is the hazard point for most older cpus lol

  • will this work with a q6600

  • no turbo boost only exist on the new i5/i7 cpus

  • are you using vista basic

  • Holy Balls...91 on core 0.....I think there is some additional cooling needed there....I wouldn't even let my GPU run that hot if I can avoid it.

  • 1 thread != 1 processor.

  • Nice vid!

I own a WC'ed i920@4.2GHz and I never hit those temps on the 4cores. Better put those i7 cores under a nicer cooler Linus!

  • Very nice.

  • dam that thing hits 71c after like 4 seconds of prime95 u might want to get that thing under some water

  • would it work on a q9550 core 2 quad?

  • afaik core 2 doesnt do intel turbo boost.

although it will underclock when idle for powersaving.

i doubt this gadget will work for it

  • Nope, Core 2 Quad CPUs don't have Turboboost technology. Core i5s and Core i7s will however.

  • cool!

  • You should watercool that 965 extreme (965, because it's 3.2Ghz right?). Seriously, it's like a heat bottleneck.
