i can only download an application for it that runs in the background. I think its not available for the gadget version now, so when you are running it, it will be shown on your task manager.
hey can someone answer something for me? im about to buy a new pc this is the processor....Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 quad-core processor with Turbo-Boost [up to 3.8GHz, 8MB cache] i want this pc for gaming, will i get 3.8 GHz during gameplay? in other words will turbo boost kick in during a game to improve my performance? thanks
I have a rather important note for those who want to install this gadget. If you google for "intel turbo boost gadget" you find a download from Intel's website, however thats "Turbo Boost Monitor 2.0", a standalone software and not the gadget you see in Linus video. I actually found the gadget featured in this video.
hi can u tell me y i cant play games on my laptop even tho my graphics card is 1.2gb and ram 4gb but my ghz is 2.40ghz plz help me im trying to play gears of war company of heroes and stalker clear sky they all just have like screen lag or something plz help
Hello, here a way to boost Windows. So, open Task Manager, then Prosesses, remove all processes who's not:
SYSTEM,
LOCAL SERVICES,
NETWORK SERVICES.
So remove all, but not:
SYSTEM,
LOCAL SERVICES,
NETWORK SERVICES.
Ok, then, go to Start, run and type msconfig. Go to Startup and uncheck all of that stuff... restart Windows. A message appear when you restarted Windows. Just click OK.
Basically, it slightly overclocks your CPU when it may possibly need more power. :) So just a quick boost. Just the same as it also works with underclocking a CPU when the CPU is at idle, so lower temps - CPU lives longer, and saves power.
no. intel turbo boost is within the cpu. it detects if 1 or more clocks are idle, shuts those down, and overclock itself a bit to run single threaded apps faster.
damn! your temps are pretty high for that clock speed...i run a i7 920 overclocked a 4.1 ghz and i don't even go above 80c! Sure i have a thermalright cooler but still...
It really depends on which processor it is. The i7 processors on socket 1366 are safe up to even the mid 80s for an extended period of time. Personally I don't like mine to ever be above 75 but it should not degrade the processor to the point that it dies before you replace it by having it at 80 or 85.
Do i need to have the turbo boost gadget open to overclock the CPU or is the gadget just to show just much it is on? Please reply

@Catalytera it just shows you the status and if you have a slower machine i wouldnt install it

I dont understand is this intel turbo boost a software overclock?
scatmanwfm 2 years ago
i thought it wasn't a software overclock, and you could turn it off in the bios?
kozes 2 years ago
Yeah I dont think it is now that i've read a little more though I could be wrong. I think its also only for i5 and i7's.

@scatmanwfm No its not a software overclock , its just a gadget that show what happens to the CPU with turbo boost enabled
@kozes yes , u can turn it off in bios

What all has turbo boost? Just like i5 and i7s?
scatmanwfm 2 years ago
But will the setting be saved every time ? I mean, the turbo mode will be on indiferent if you start the pc off and than again right ?

would it work on a q9550 core 2 quad?
pcgamingman 2 years ago
afaik core 2 doesnt do intel turbo boost.
although it will underclock when idle for powersaving.
i doubt this gadget will work for it
GoreKoala 2 years ago
Nope, Core 2 Quad CPUs don't have Turboboost technology. Core i5s and Core i7s will however.

You should watercool that 965 extreme (965, because it's 3.2Ghz right?). Seriously, it's like a heat bottleneck.
