  • Hadn't seen this before - Great post - Thanks.

  • thank you so much for posting this! the first time i ever heard this song, i just sat there mesmerized. one of the best songs ever!

  • Namaste.

  • They have so many great songs on so many great albums that

you can just go on forever and listen in pure joy. So glad I grew

up with their music. No crappy synthesizers ..just pure talent.

  • Wasn't "Colour Me Pop" the first British TV pop/rock music show to be broadcast in colo(u)r??

  • is there a longer version of this song? ...... wayyyyy too short ... fantastic though!

  • @frizzlefrap The Album version is longer; almost 6 minutes. =D This song is one of my personal favorites!

  • This is so special to me thank you, thank you! I have always wanted to see them play this song and now I have. Justin on the Sitar ! Wow always wanted to see him play. Very cool.

  • My oldest brother borrowed this album from a schoolfriend when I was 6 years old in 1968 /69. I used to listen to it with him like I did many of those albums of the time ; he trained my love of rock music from an early age ; still one of the best albums that I had to get on SACD with many bonus tracks a few years back, even though I had the vinyl and cd already !

  • I dont want to sound cynical, but could there again be a band with such a huge range of talent and quality ? I would be very surprised ; dont know why that is today

  • To me the Moody Blues come as close to perfection as any band I have ever heard. This song is a perfect example. So simple and melodic and and the beautiful exotic sound of the sitar along with such deep lyrics it just lifts my soul to the heavens, OM.

    Peace.

  • @makingsense53 Yes, one of the few real 'BANDS' with EVERYONE in it highly talented as writers, singers and versatile musicians ; this was always my favourite album that they made out of a string of perfect albums. But it's still hard to say which is the best one. I love 'Threshold' & 'Childrens' very much too

  • Yes, i did not correct the spelling..I am in pain at 5:19 AM. Also-the ARTWORK is amazing!! Anyone want to do a book of Moody Blues Art. I ve got sketches.

  • Ummm..what can anyone stay about OM. incredible, totally original, and like nothing else. Too bad, Mike and Ray are no longer a part. This is why they need to reunite...I violunteer ro bridge the gap. I know Both sides. Personally. Anyone interested.

  • I love reading all the lovely comments from all the Moody fans around. There is so much love for this band... They sure are lucky to have such loyal and devoted fans such as all of us.. Who needs the hall of fame

  • @jhmbfc Good comment ; you cant knock such talented perfection ; it never dates ; timeless

  • WOW! Outstanding!

    5X5X5 THUMB'S UP!

    Matt

  • thanks for upload, timeless and so goooooooooooooood

  • Damn. This is a great song, but methinks this video is lip-synched.

  • ...and as far as I know, The MB still, has not been entered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

We should demand that those assholes get down on their knees and grovel before one of the greatest rock bands in history, as they're being inducted into the Hall.

    That's where they belong.

  • Wonderful! Is there any more of this program anywhere?

  • Very Cool....How did I miss this?

  • This song is sooo chill...

  • omg.....this is a gem .great upload thx!

  • This is an incredible song, which is cut short.... :(

  • As Godlike as you can get.

  • I'm glad I was not around in the 60's!

  • OM = DR. ALBERT HOFFMANN = LSD

  • In Search Of The Lost chord is still my all time fave album. Used to catch these guys in Vegas during the 80's & 90's. Great show. Wish I'd seen em when Mike Pinder was still touring. Class act all the way.

  • Groovy.

  • Oh My Goodness...I am a Moodies Fan all the way!

  • where's the orange sunshine lsd when you need some?

  • @LittleMegha The first acid we ever took was Orange Sunshine. How fortunate we were.

  • @Cielamouroux very fortunate, i'd say. But on the lyrics of this song: "I know why the skies all cry," isn't that such a classic lsd insight! I love this song.

  • @Cielamouroux I hear ya brother.....and then there was Orange Barrel, around 1970 I think, but I could be wrong. lol

  • I have loved this band for many years now. They're music does wonder to the soul. Happy Birthday Justin Hayward. I Hope you have any more. Your music is something that will last forever and I want to thank you for that.

Said With Love, Joyce Aka MoodiesFan. :-)

  • Graeme on tablas... Justin on sitar, john on cello, ray on flute and mike on mellotron.... now there is a lineup you dont see from any other band ... one of a kind originals these guys....

  • Happy Birthday Justin!

Thanks to The Moodys Blues for the ride! Its been great and gets better every year!

    God bless you all......

  • It still makes me calm and blows my mind. After they kept coming out with stuff like this, it is no wonder they had to come out with Singer in a Rock And Roll Band-everyone was of the firm belief that they knew many things that nobody else did and kept bugging them. Maybe they did know.

  • I am always ecstatic to see video footage surviving from the era when the BBC taped over everything, including performances that would be sought after today.

  • thanx

    loved it!

  • This is 100% USDA Mind Blowing!!

Where on earth did you get this footage???

    AMAZING!!

  • Priceless! This song is so very beautiful. The Moody Blues will live foever. No one can make a song like these five Moodies, Mike, Justin, John, Ray, and of course Graeme. When Justin and John joined the band, they made The Moody Blues perfect. Justin is one of a knd,his voice gives me chills. Love Em!!

  • well done on your video, i have watched it and think you are really good at what you do, dont let anyone put you down yeah, you can check out my videos if you wanna :) xxx

  • so wonderful.....

  • Grahame & Justin: You're not supposed to play those instruments with your shoes on. Goddam this is a great cut!!!!!

  • I love it::-))

  • I Love the moody blues justin's sitar is badass and john's cello is 2

  • Justin Hayward, my my my you are stunning in orange!!!!

  • ...the one person who gave this video a thumbs down is such a douche.

  • OMMMmmm.......Brilliant!!

  • Wow, never seen this one. Love the way Mike and Ray trade lines. What a great band, thanks for sharing this!!

  • Arbee..did you get to nam?

  • Was Justin playing the Sitar before George? Was he self taught?

  • @swizzlecheeks George got justin into the sitar and taught him some stuff but yeah george was playing sitar before justin

  • When this was new I'd play it over and over again. Drove my folks nuts, but that was the whole point then, wasn't it?

  • I was a young soldier stationed at Ft Leavenworth, KS in the early '70's, and I recall how my buddies and I loved to listen to the MB's while tripping on acid. Some fond memories there. Oh, to be young, dumb, and full of come again.

  • looks like omar sharif

  • my first introduction to sitar....then i went to india and always remebered this song.....

  • wow what a great video-thanks for uploading it-easily the best moodys video on youtube

  • Great to hear them actually singing instead of just to playback.

  • Thanks for this video. I am impressed that this stuff is still around and I am grateful for uploaders such as yourself who share it.

  • Great clip though short ; was it originally that short when first broadcast ? ; it is the last performance of the show after all.The Moodies best album for me

  • Was Gandhi in this band?

  • Far out man!

  • epic

  • Those clouds roll past my head...

  • Love the Moodys In Search of the lost chord album which this is taken off is a very intresting album

  • This is just too much! I love this.

  • I love the sound of the universe

  • It's amazing how they play their unusual instruments - but it sounds great as ever.

  • The Moody Blues, like alot of bands from the period, were into music from India. Each member of the Moodys can play a wide range of instruments. In the liner notes from their CD , In Search Of The Lost Chord, it lists the instruments each one plays. They are all multi talented. Plus, they write and sing their own songs. Not too many bands can say that.

  • This has to be world's most peaceful song, and maybe even world's most heavenly song

  • Thanks for this great clip!

  • Too bad this version couldn't be longer. It's truncated. The studio version is closer to 6 minutes long...

  • check my site I have the longer version posted there.

  • Blues at there best. Awesome.

  • puff puff pass...

  • accepted.... no hogging.

  • Thanks MoodiesFan ! See all Aug 17 !

    Tom Fuji Professional !

  • This song is so completely overwhelmingly awesome. I have their 4 disk compliation time traveler. This is definately one of my top faves.

  • buy the original albums.

  • I think that the end of this song is the sound of ascendtion....really

  • this is awesome!!!! Oo

    and this guitar thing AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • That's a sitar--an Indian instrument.

  • Fabulous! thank you MB Fan

  • Thank You, MoodiesFan. Hours of Listening Heaven!

  • Drop Some Good L.S.D

  • What talent.. Always meaning... never noise.

  • one of my favourites. great footage.

  • a lot of the time, they would have live mics, and sing along to a backing track, so you'd have a good music mix, and a live vocal. very common in the 60s.

  • THIS IS PRICELESS !!!!

  • I think it's a mix. Mike & Ray's lead vocals at the start seemed to me to be live, (not exactly like the record) but the harmonies are playback for sure..

  • WOW John Lodge on cello Justin Heyward playing sitar Graemne Edge on tablas AMAZING!!!

  • its my favourite moody blues song which introduced me to sitar, which i had never heard before...a pity this is only the short version, but just wonderful...

  • Where is the flock wallpaper

And that guy in the waiter's suit, how much for a balti

  • Moody Blues with Mellotron, Cello, Tablas and citar. Great! It is the times of psycadelic rock!

  • I wonder if it's possible to get the Moodies' entire Colour Me Pop session on DVD. Anyone know? I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

  • Top 5 ablums, ever.

  • ..." hurry high a butterfly...as clouds roll past my head I know why the clouds all cry..OM..OM...Heaven !"

back when high was a 12 hour LSD trip.

I think in some ways the Lost Chord album has the most representative music of the hippie era...this song IS PSYCHEDILIA !

  • It's "hurry hide, butterfly," right? because the clouds are coming.

  • i just found god

  • Damn, Hayward on sitar on Lodge on cello?

  • It's amazing how much music vid the BBC has. Makes us here in the states look pretty lame.Love to see more, thank you!

  • Wow...omg...where did this come from....

where is the rest of the song?...

  • Groovy, baby!

  • I would never believe Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas on vocals...totally cool

  • Thats a neat vid, never saw many videos of moody blues performances {saw them in concert]. But this performance is what I pictured them to be like. Great Video ****

  • Gotta love those Moody Blues!

    OM Shanti, Keith J.

    (ommeditation at YouTube)

  • Sehr Schön, Danke:-)

  • splendidi

  • sublime

  • Love it!!!!!!One of my top ten favorite songs and I get to watch them perform......I don't think it can get any better than this.....Heaven in a word,a song and voices.Thank you and peace....

  • amazing--thanks for posting this gem

  • Wonderfully evocative video by this incredible band. Encapsulating that sixties appeal.

  • Jolly good song indeed. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to these guys, and help get them enshrined all you Moody fans out there.

  • This is one of those songs you'll never

grow tired of listening-again & again.

Their haunting Harmonies, this sone has it all...XOXOXO

  • Is this video available on DVD?

  • great, So wonderful, i really love this song.

  • This is lovely.

  • great stuff!!

  • You're really into the Moody Blues, from all I see on this YouTube stuff. Don't know much about navigating or searching. So where can I find John Lodge's "send me no wine"?

  • Ah! *sighs* Such beautiful lyrics! (I especially like the line: "The Earth turned slowly, far away the distant sound"! In my mind, I can see the distant image of the planet - spinning slowly/peacefully/quietly in a vast, dark universe. In the distance, you can hear the "distant sound" - possibly the heartbeat/sound of life, a heartbeat, drums, etc etc...

  • my doubles are normal quads! theres a place in wrightsville pa..ya drink your shake..(double malted, double dutch chocolate!!) AND feed bears at THE SAME TIME!! how cool is that? and my bestest xo's to you, too!

  • oh yeah! AND craving a double-malted shake! thank you, you sweet thing you!

  • Color me cool! The boys are outstanding. Pinder is a great band leader. Most accomplished musicians and lyricists. Greatest of all.

  • Here, here! :-D Some of the best lyrics around! (Very deep, thought-provoking, and beautiful!)

ilovekansas - I love Kansas, too! (Of course, I'm from there. LOL!) ;-D

  • Thanks for the reply. I'm from Kansas also. Great place. "As clouds roll past my head, I know why the skies all cry" --- reminds me of awesome Kansas thunderstorms and that cool stuff.

  • Yeah, my dad told me about those amazing you would have out there. He'd actually climb out onto the roof and take pictures of the storms as they would pass by. (He used to work for the Kansas City Star as a photographer - and used to place some of his pics in the newspaper.)

I'm was born in Atchison. Which part of KS are you from, if you don't mind me asking?

  • KC and Lawrence, also lived in Hays, and have family near Wichita. Kansas often gets a bad rap, but its a beautiful state. Big sky. Great vistas. Nice to know there's other Moody Blues fans from Kansas. I still read the KC Star online everyday, and have for years. Probably have seen your dad's photojournalism. Live in Wisconsin these days, but always a Jayhawk at heart. Rock Chalk.

  • Hee hee! This is crazy - I have/had family in Lawrence. I don't know if they're still there or not. (My dad made a couple of trips out that way to visit them.)

Kansas isn't so bad - there's so much history there. And in addition to this, they really have some great storms/tornadoes!

    Hello fellow Kansan! :-D

  • So, to all you Kansas land folks, are you jayhawks or wildcats???? It's nice to see the jays get their pigskin back. The cats need to bump it up a little, though. I loved watching michael bishop fling it! That dang purwho? (purdue) got lucky. CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SONS!!!! You're all much more than merely DUST IN THE WINDS!!! lol

  • Rock Chalk Jayhawk, baby...

  • too short! but one of the best i've heard..thanks!

  • Why is it so short? Live vocal, though.

  • hippies they was!

  • I love Justin 1000 more times than before!

  • Great musical versatility from the best band of all!

  • Love it! I just wish it weren't so short.

  • great videos never see them before indy faschion was baybe then .Greece ,Grace

  • yum factor 5 stars!

    trippiness factor 20 stars!

    thanks for posting!

  • WOW, where's Owsley Stanley when you need him?

  • I think I've tracked them all down now! :) What a great show... the Small Faces one is excellent too, they seem to be having a lot of fun and spend most of it giggling and making mistakes. There's a good Move one as well.

  • Thanks BB! It great!

  • I love Mike Pinder's voice especially.

  • I've never seen this before, I only know Ride My Seesaw from this show. Do you have the rest of the episode too? I love this LP!

  • i guess I said "She sure Is Berrygirl"but you know

now what i was referring too!

  • When i said "yes she is"I was referring to an earlier

post where it was stated"Joyce Is the Best".This post

no longer shows up on this page, but berrygirl was correct! Joyce is the best! Hats off to you Joyce!

  • berrygirl,I am probably going to get it for saying this,

but i believe The Moody Blues are a better group than

    The Beatles(Nancy also agrees)!

  • She sure Is berrygirl !

  • Far out man!!

  • i could've enjoyed this more if it didn't drive me out of my friggen mind!!!! so very very cool!

  • This is so beautiful, thank you!

  • Rare ;)

  • Justin really mastered the Sitar in this clip

  • Trippy, lol

  • OH MY GOODNESS!!!! This is the ultimate!!!!! I'm sooooo glad you posted this, and so glad my dear friend Berrygirl brought it to my attention!!!!

There aren't enough stars to rate this!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!!!!

  • Thanks so much for this MoodiesFan,I have always loved

    this song
