  • wow beautiful animal, thank you all those who helped.

  • @Joeyates11

    Heck yea!

  • @turnbuckles1

    Haida Gwaii is the

    "Queen Charolette islands" original name.

The reason for that is there is a first nations group who live there and that is what it was always called until some white people came up and said "ooh let's name this the queen charolette islands!" ps, I think lots of Haida people ( I know ALOT who are more than a little angry) are a little upset with you, you should of done your research before making that comment.

  • this is great. but i dont understand how the whale just swims after the guys sings.

    this is really cool still

  • Thank you for posting this, wish our baby humpback stranded this month in East Hampton, NY could have had the same happy ending, but than again, we would have had to act similarly, which was NOT the case here...may we all LEARN from our mistakes....

  • My dad and I helped rescue that whale!! It took 18 hours and then it almost rebeached itself but then we

scared it back to deep water.

  • Great job everyone !!

  • that was truly awesome

  • YOU are a very rude person, you should learn more about the FN culture

  • understanding the culture or not has nothing to do with how the singing sounds.

  • It has EVERYTHING to do with it!

  • Yes, it was a native prayer

in the language of the whale...

    Some still know...

    Yay, happy baby whale!

    And Us!!

    *****+++++ :)))

  • Yay happy baby whale!

  • It sounded like that song was a prayer. Native American in origin I believe.

  • One of the guys who saved it came to my school

  • "it died two days later."lolz

  • Acting? haha

the problem is we dont 'act' like gods enough

  • the trouble is we can't. we are just humans, and we belong to this world, not the other way around. the world doesn't belong to us.

    check out daniel quinn

  • acting like gods? to me that doesnt even sound right. what happened here wasnt an act of "god" or they were not trying to portray god like tendencys. This is the way of our people, we have always had much respect for our land and our animals. These people that sang to the way were only speaking the language of their homeland and the whale responded. Its not god like acting. Its acting as our ancestors did.

  • Also, this other guy said the whale took of because it didn't like the singing!

I told him he should take a First Nations Studies course

  • good to see a news broadcast that isn't declaring doomsday lol. There still are good things to see. 8)

  • great!

  • That is such a beautiful story of the touching effort this group of humans did to help our sibling on this planet, the whale. Truly beautiful.

  • Awesome story, thanks for posting. But I still don't get it. It left cause they sang to it?

  • Your Welcome! Glad to help. I was the other guy no one knows, that stopped at the filmaker's partner's house and told him to get to the beach, but I had to carry on working on phones. I went up but had to leave right away. Missed a real moment. But I guess because of my stopping there, they got a real videographer on the case, so I ultimately didn't miss much at all. Except my cut. haha..kidding Andrew.

  • @GrapefruityTikbit

    beacasue it's not that cool.........

  • i was one of those guys out there - famous, thank you thank you

  • GOOD JOB GUYZ!!!

  • Great to see the powerful friends!

    Peace to all...

  • Well done to all concerned! Great vid thanks for sharing

  • thats my family right there

  • I know all this people on here. Shout out to Big Ernie and Gunni. And to Donnie Edenshaw for singing a traditional Haida song for the whale, which to me give the whale power to swin back into the ocean. However, it was a great community effort to get the whale into the water. When the whale was in the water, it gave Donnie the chance to use he's singing ability to free the whale.

  • Extra Awesome...a miracle!

  • I know one of the rescuers. You are all modern day super heroes. My hat goes off to all of you wonderful people.

  • hoo yaa

  • I spoke with a couple who were in a small boat off Tow Hill when they heard the crowd yell and saw the whale move off the beach. They said that as the whale freed itself, a much larger humpback cruised by them straight towards the small humpback. Must have been mom. It's been several days since we saw it go, and it has managed to avoid crashing into land so far.
