WHERE this supposed "surplus" came from is that what is called the "Social Security lockbox" was raided. Money was taken from SS and replaced with an IOU, and the money put into the general fund. So now the GF had funds, but SS was broke.

@azfo90 There are several reasons this law is unconstitutional. First the constitution says that the governement CAN'T FORCE you to purchase anything. The second part is the Government Can't pass a law dictating something that they themselves don't have to part take in...hmmm the Administration all has their own health insurance and are not force to have to buy into this CRAP they are forcing on us. As far as the reducing the deficit, I suggest you take an accounting class.

The CBO did *revise* the amount to lower than the original estimate, but the law is still estimated to reduce the deficit by hundreds of billions of dollars.
Also, please provide a reference to any specific information, otherwise I am just going to believe you are making this information up.

I have written to Melissa Bean (and our other glorious state reps and senators) many times and ALL I ever get from her is a form letter explaining why she thinks we need the nanny state legislation that she voted for. I have had, available to me, MANY opportunities to go see Joe Walsh, hear him speak and personally ask him questions. I was given ample notice of those events so that I could decide if I wanted to attend or not.. Not so with Ms. Bean. IF she did as Joe does, she would be mobbed!

@azfo90 What surplus? "IF" there was a surplus WHY was the national debt NOT reduced? You can easily look at the national debt history. Never in the Clinton years was the debt reduced. WHERE this supposed "surplus" came from is that what is called the "Social Security lockbox" was raided. Money was taken from SS and replaced with an IOU, and the money put into the general fund. So now the GF had funds, but SS was broke.
