NY Staqte should run a Metro North rail line out of Penn Station up the west bank all the way to Albany. After that, a connector across the Tappan Zee Bridge. An easier commute to NYC, Westchester and Northern NJ would save Newburgh. I heard talk of this back in the early 90s. Now everybody is broke; where will anybody find the money???
And so do the citizens, one can only better ones self." it is not that you are the product of your environment, but that your environment is the product of you".
all newburgh really needs to do is, stop littering, get jobs, and i dont know why they're not but the cops need to do their job the problems are very well visible.
i'm really sorry if i misrepresented your film. i only saw the clips on youtube, and i drew hasty conclusions because i grew up being pretty touchy about these issues. the impression i got from the clips was that audrey carey and andy marino were the corrupt influences, and nick valentine and his friends were valiantly trying to bring back accountable government.
what's the easiest way to see the whole movie? i'd be very interested in watching the whole thing.
I agree with you, Dylan. Newburgh's officials have a long history of botched leadership, and making big plans for the city while ignoring the "minorities" (which aren't even a minority). Even today, the developers that are coming in and re-structuring the city are hard-pressed to really involve the non-white community. It was my intention with the movie to make people see this, and perhaps put a stop to the continuing trend.
from the clips here on youtube, this movie seems like a shockingly stupid, simplistic, and racist take on the city i grew up in. newburgh is over 2/3 black and latino, but most of the people in these clips are middle-class white republicans. these people's idea of "saving" newburgh is to gentrify it, with handouts to their business-owner and landlord friends in the suburbs. black people are only shown in wide-angle shots of urban blight.

if these clips are any indication, the movie might as well be called "saving newburgh from black people".
