  • pfft... im not scared of starving to death....i live in California! we've got avocados!

    avocados!yeah!

  • My biggest fears are: GIANT Birds because they could easily overpower me, and my grandma (I'm serious about that)

  • The things I'm most afraid of are tsunamis, tornadoes, and zombies. These are totally ridiculous fears though because I live in the Yakima Valley in Washington State and no tidal wave or tornado could ever happen here. Right now. a zombie apocalypse is more likely to happen than the other two, It's funny, but those are the things I'm always having nightmares about.

  • Dan, it's like you've lived inside my head for years.

  • Bring on the revolutions i have fishing weights in a sock.

  • dan man your scaring the shit out of me

    small scale: getting ran over

large scalle: and asteriod heading for london (what it could happen)

  • My biggest fear is more selfish than yours but it's always been my largest fear. I'm afraid of being alone, of not being wanted, of being abandoned. It was worse when I was younger and it got so much worse after my dad walked out on us. Now it's still a fear but I just hope it won't happen.

  • @05ALMA20 I have an enormous fear of abandonment as well.I suppose it actually IS my number one fear, besides tornadoes, tsunamis, and zombies. I'm so convinced I'll be abandoned, I'm cruel toward the people I most love. But I think I'm getting better now. I found someone who put up with my nonsense, and who stuck by my side through all of my temper tantrums. Don't worry; you're not alone in the feeling of being abandoned. I know exactly how it is. The world is a frightening place to be alone in.

  • I like how 10 days after this was posted the 99% protests/riots started

  • I doubt it's gonna happen in my life time so in not worried. It will probably happen in 500 years from now. So none of us alive right now will be alive to witness that stuff.

I don't really have big major fears but one of my small fears is bugs.

  • as a researcher myself in alternative energy at the University of Cambridge, I strongly disagree with the statement that "we are not working hard enough on renewables", but rather, it is the insufficient support and funding from governments or industries. At least not enough compared to the oil and gas industry. the greatest frustration researchers have is the perpetual lack of research funding while billions are wasted elsewhere, leaving countless brilliant ideas to die in the labs.

  • HE PREDICTED Occupy wall street

  • well...were all gonna die

  • I miss Dan's old subscribe rap video it was so very fun

  • I think population control would be a catalyst to spawning a global solution. But with the rise of human rights laws and such, everybody is equal, which my apparently un-PC views tells me is a bad thing.

  • FTL! I was actually playing with a pocket knife while watching this video... I am putting it away now...

  • Sharp things near my nose freak me out

  • You deserve more views.

  • I'm afraid of slenderman, the dark scares me because i watched the marble hornets videos

  • I'm afraid that I will come to a situation where I will be in such emotional and physical tradgedy that I will have no will to live.

  • First you make me watch that 9/11 documentary, now this.

    I'm not sleeping, am I?

  • Small Scale: spiders

    Large Scale: Apocolypse.

  • What keeps me up at night? The idea that this is all there is. This planet, this dimension, this life. I stay up at night literally on the verge of resorting to praying to a God I don't believe in that there is something else out there and that at some point in this life, just once, I would get to see it in action. I want to know that somewhere else in existence, even if it's not in this reality, there is other sentient life, and that humans aren't alone here, screaming at the void.

  • On a small scale: I am terrified of ants. On a large scale: I'm terrified of a financial economic collapse.

  • Have you heard about Hydrogen powered cars it's probably the best chance we have for if we run out of oil

  • @FaShizzleMaNizzle1 Until everyone explodes...

  • dude, you're kinda obsessed with climate change

  • people says we will run out of oil in the next 30 years

  • For me, nuclear power is my greatest large scale fear. The reality being that nuclear power plants having to be constantly cooled by humans is scary to me. What if a nuclear plant loses money an then has to fire it's workers? Then that reactor would explode and kill many many many people around it.

  • @BlackHearts234 One, Nuclear Power Plants are the MOST efficient power resources we have. (Nuclear Fusion isn't sustainable) Two, I don't care how bad the economy is, NOBODY is stupid enough to just say, "Oh, screw that Nuclear Powerplant, it doesn't matter if it goes to meltdown, we can just leave it there.) The only reason plants meltdown is do to natural disasters. If it's safety you want over efficiency, we could put reactors in orbit, then send down the power in the form of microwaves.

  • Now I'm scared

  • We are all EVENTUALLY going to die Dan...

  • It's natural selection-type development of technology. We have developed and will develop in response to stimuli. Right now, there is no stimuli. Simply speculating on future problems doesn't motivate people to act. It has to SMACK THEM IN THE FACE! lolwut

  • We need to spread this message. This is a valid fucking concern and I'm becoming more and more afraid that it's inevitable. Just gonna say that industrial hemp is probably the most valuable natural resource in the world and it's illegal to manufacture in this country. FUCKING DUMB.

  • I'm afraid that humanity might end of destroying itself. Unless we get our act together and solve issues between countries and terrorism we will ultimately get no where. Humanity needs to make more advances in technology and go far beyond Earth to seize other planets. This however could lead us to a new conquest age where new materials and diseases are to be found.

  • i hope it happens i hope we all die its going to be funny

  • my longterm fear is biological warfare going horribly wrong and what you said plus if we go to war with russa now were screwed

  • i feel the same way i can handle a knife but if someone else has one i freak out what if the trip and stab me or sneeze or .. or. or i dunno just want me dead!

  • well... dan can't run for president for like another 13 or so years. which is both good and bad. bad because he does have his head in the right place and, from what i've seen in his videos, won't become a corrupt dick. it is good, however, because he bought his first house less than a year ago. he simply doesn't have enough real world experience to fall back onto. that's not to say he won't have the experience when he is of age to run for president, he just doesn't right now.

  • O.O you just gave me a new fear...

  • i have the exact same fears.....

  • Well the good news is that we wont run out of oil. The bad news is that this would be because oil production, perhaps very shortly will start to decline due to geological factors. And the global economic-political systems will then collapse on account of endlessly rising cost of oil. At this stage oil production would be impractical. Though as you say if we can transfer to renewables..

  • This country is fucked and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it. and definitely not the president. so, just hope that when America finally falls you will be an illegal immigrant working labor jobs in Mexico.

  • Dan for President.

  • i would say give Dan another 30-40 years and then i would vote for him as president, but he's on the right track.

  • well, now all THAT is going to keep me up at night. thanks, dan.

  • I wish I was my age (19) back in the 50s or 60s, before apathy became mainstream and nobody cares about anything now.

  • What keeps me up at night? Watching YouTube videos that discuss the possibility of a dystopian future in which we all die of starvation because of politics :/

  • A straightforward question I'd like to ask that anyone can answer concerning different sources of energy is this: Who should develop these technologies? Should it be government mandated or should it be private corporations?

My personal beliefs are that energy creation is not something the government should have it's hands in controlling. But if anyone has a differing opinion, I'd like to hear it.

  • well, I'm terrified.

  • Fucking spiders man. Horrible.

  • I wasn't sure where this was going. Started to think this was a bad subject for a video. Then you did what Dan does best, you make me think! Great video. I just wish someone would tell me how to do something because I always here this but no one seems to have a real idea how to do it! I feel so helpless.

  • Forget the Green Party. I am with the Brown Party.

  • @magic0ninja0pro This is why there isn't a Party for Betty White. The White Party sounds a little.. racist.

  • ive rewatched this video so many times and i am in awe every time

  • I get the whole "Dan for president" thing's appeal, but ultimately that sort of thinking would get you nowhere. He could still be vastly overruled on any Dan-like decisions he could make by the congress. Ultimately, you should either call for Dan to force political reform and honesty to promote logical decision-making, or demand a dictatorship. So.. Dan for dictator!

  • I love what you are doing with this channel now but I think I would like to see some of random Dan doing vlogylike things occasionally. just thrown in there every now and again. like the video about your dog chasing the bunny. that was perfect because it was a topic but it wasnt such a strong topic that we could chill and relax with fun Dan for a bit.

  • i felt like crying when he showed the picture of "the falling man"

  • oil solution: get a prius

  • I have the same 'uneasyness' about knives as you do-except mine is more of a raging fear. I HAVE to leave the kitchen when someone uses a knife for i think (irrationally) that they might snap and suddnley start cutting off their fingers or hands or throw the blasted knife at me instead.

  • We should start a petition or an organization or something all about having Dan run for president.

  • @TheDoubleEmz I don't think Dan is 35 or over.

  • @redsoxfan3418 but he will be lol

  • I'm sorry to say, we're all going to die regardless.

  • Cold Fusion.

  • go vegetarian, this wont be a problem

  • I FEEL YOU ON THE KNIFE THING

  • It's crazy how often we agree Dan. That's also my biggest fear; I think about it kind of a lot. Not really a fear though, just something I'm aware has a moderately high liklihood of happening. Older generatoins/rich old people can only hold us down for so long. Eventually, one way or another, the world needs to move forward and evolve. Hopefully we don't have to violently overthrow old rich people currently in power, but if poor keep getting more poor... it's probably going to. I just wanna be..

  • @Hrel88 ready for it. Ready to lead the fight and make sure we don't get carried away and accidentally send is into another dark ages or something. Also, I love playing with my pocket knife, opening and closing it. Muayhahahahah. Do a Chicago meet up on a weekend (seriously with the weekdays man? Some of us work for a living.) I'll just have like 12 pocket knives for people to play with.

  • Small scale: spiders ,they just move so fast , Even though I know the ones here in ireland cant kill me or anything I just hate the way the are so fast and pop up at the times you least expect it.

  • I have so many different theories on what happens after death , and there is only one that keeps me up at night, Its that when we die, our soul doesn't actually leave our body so we are just lying there in the ground for eternity fully aware of us being alive just in a body that doesn't function at all probably something like floating in black forever. .I'd say this idea is less likely than most others but the small chance can be scary if you thing about it.

  • @Benr96 What about the possibility that when you die, you perish forever. At that point, you would not even have consciousness..aka, you would not even be able to perceive that the blackness. There would be nothing.

  • I think you're overacting, each country is independant, and i don't see how all countries will start starving and stuff.

  • You don't know the word callipygian? Look it up.

  • Hemp oil is 5x more efficient than fossil fuels. But those silly geese in the governments won't legalize it! I'm super serial, the first car was made and ran on hemp!

  • @MrBenjamingeFTW You do realize that hemp can and IS grown throughout the states as a cash crop, do you not? Ever heard of hemp rope? Hemp lotion?

  • Watching you on my iPod keeps me up at night....

  • What about a communism? I know it's kind of unfair, but eventually, there will be a smaller gap between rich and poor.

  • 4:23. lol

  • Sharks

  • Sharks and the dark i guess

  • zombies

  • I think my biggest fear is fear of the unknown, all my fears, social, dark etc... all come down to fear of the unknown

  • also humans in the past have either died of or triumphed over inadvertence like this and with the more people we have the more ideas and great minds their will be to create ideas and to help put those ideas into action or we will crash and burn and we will be at square 30ish not the beginning but really really close.

  • ok i wanna open this comment by saying i am not a nut but if and when the time comes and we the people carry out our constitutional duties of replacing the ones in power it will be a well executed attack with years and years of planing and probably by sane people some what like Dan and will probably have military help making it swift and pain less for as much of the world as possible.

  • Dan, if you have no designs on being president, you have to at least go into public office of some sort. the USA needs people like you running it.

  • Waahhhh I wish I didn't watch this before bed, now I'm really scared!

  • The ending of this video was amazing.

  • My annoyance with the political world is actuall the impact of "Going green"

I actually feel it is too late to save our planet and although i agree going green is a good idea. I am sick of people voting for the party that promises to be greener. Really if they follow through, a large portion of our taxes is going to saving the planet. Basically its like taking a mouse to the vet. A mouse lives 4-5 years average, and they are like $4.00. The vet bill can be more to give it a few more months.

  • I mostly get scared of thinking about the future because you don't know what''s going to happen. I also have a paralyzing fear of thunderstorms. When it's light out or im with friends,my friends are more scared of the thunder than I am, but at night like the last storm we had scared me so bad because it was dark and I was alone. The power went out for a minute too so I was shaking in the hallyway by myself in the midst of a severe thunderstorm in pitch blackness. IE my worst nightmare O.o

  • Whoever reads this is weclome to join me at my apocolypse shelter. Just kidding, I wont have enough food.

  • not trying to start a political debate... but if we could drill off our coasts and invest in drilling deeply in America, we could largely reduce dependance on foreign oil, obviously id dosnt solve the problem in the big picture, but I've heard statistics that this would push our resources of oil to around a few hundred years. By then we should have the technology to have a new renewable energy source.

  • Centipedes scare me more than the extinction of man.

  • this video absolutely needs to be seen by as many people as possible

  • this video absolutely needs to be seen by as many people as possible

  • Dan, when it comes to "getting our act together," we as a people will not be able to do such a thing until the economy has recovered. In terms of implementing renewable energy sources, it simply will not be feasible or bought by any sizable portion of the population until the economy is willing to take the risks to spend. The economic opportunity cost of those resources outweighs the benefits in a recession/depression. Nuclear power should be the future, and renewable, the distant future.

  • Population control is the answer in my opinion.

  • Hey Dan, pogo tribe is demanding, and you just aren't delivering. Seriously, we want you to surgically turn yourself into a fish and conduct your blogs from the mississippi river, BUT YOU JUST WON'T LISTEN! You've changed Dan... I've watched you for years, but I might just have to unsubscribe over this one. Like this if you agree.

  • oh god . . .

  • Small scale: snakes

Large scale: It was something else.... Until now.

  • Dan, the term first world country has to do with the United States and its allies during the Cold War, not its economic/political situation. So no, the United States is not a "first world country". It is a first world country.

  • @Randomblabber Lol? It's not one, but it is one?

  • @Smartboy7 Dan had said the U.S. was a "first world country" in semi-sarcasm/skepticism while talking about the economy. What I'm saying is the term has nothing to do with that, so the air quotes are not needed

  • dan brown for president 2025

  • it's true. all of this.

  • Well, watching this video made me get over my biggest fear... but now i have a new biggest fear. Its what you just talked about.

  • Small scale, Spiders

    Big, Illuminati

  • What keeps me up at night? Fact, that there is death. That sooner or later, I'll die and I don't know whats after death. Nothing? I was raised without religion, but I hope that one of them is real. Because in past 14 days, every time sombody mentions death, I remember its real and at night I am forced to think about it. Its like: Hmm, death, death and I realize...BOOM, I'm gonna die and loose everything and everyone.

  • @adamboudnik Why would you hope for a religion to be true? 1st, in religions like Christianity, you are not going to heaven. Unless you became religious on your deathbed. 2nd, even if you made it into heaven, there is still eternity to worry about. I'm not sure if you realize what this means. Forever. Never ending. There is no way that this will not be boring. It doesn't matter if you've been there 1 year and got bored or 1 billion years, you still have eternity left.

  • @ufikes So, are you saying that you are not worried of death? That you'll lose everyone loved by you?

  • @adamboudnik No, to be honest, I dont. I mean, I wouldn't want to die now, but I hope that when I die, I will be ready. Ask me again in 60 years.

  • @ufikes OK, see you then. BTW: Death leads to another crazy question. Why are we here? What is the meaning? Somebody must have created us. What do we know? Maybe we're science project of another race in different dimention :D

  • small scale, bees. large scale, some sort of nuclear world war.

  • when i saw the title i just about to comment like " spiders are most scary" then i watched all and.. i'm like shame on me,,fuck my life lol

  • It is like you have jumped into my brain ripped that out of me and posted it as a youtube video Mr. Brown I am very fearful of this as well, I strongly believe this will happen unless something amazing happens to change the worlds current course then the human race will diminish, destroyed by our own technology how ironic.

  • I have a fear of the unknown and what will happen in the future. Pretty much the same as yours, Dan.

  • And I was afraid of getting grounded...

  • Ha, nice attempt to end on a happy note...

  • What keeps me up at night? Fear of death, and Slenderman...

  • Genuinely enjoying your videos lately - simple, interesting and consistent! Well done Dan :)

  • Reacting instead of acting... i've been thinking that for years

  • Mmh... My writing keeps me up at night because night inspires me... o.o

Oh yeah and if a giant spider were to crawl on my face or just hang on the ceiling above me that probably would, too... :D

  • The scenario in which EVERYONE dies because of problems Dan discusses is very unlikely because there will always be people who can live for themselves from what they have - just like humans lived 10000 years ago. We can always start from beggining. As long as some global catastrophic event doesn't kill everyone, we're going to survive as a species and our superior intelligence will be able to get us back where we are now (or somewhere near)

  • @dinamiss It depends. There may be too few people to renew our numbers without heavy genetical problems.

  • So how much of the other 59% of the nation's wealth is dispersed among the other 59% or american's?

  • You should have a podcast Dan.

  • Dan Brown, a leader that america fu***n needs…

  • I'm afraid of running out of fresh water, because the earth may be on pace to run out of fresh water before it runs out of oil

  • I just realized, by the time you're old enough to run for president, Dan, all of your viewers will also be old enough to vote for you :D

  • Run for some minor political office and work your way up. Everyone is saying to run for president, but you still have 15 years until you can do that. Run for Congress or something. Once you get enough experience under your belt, you'll have a pretty good chance at being president when you're 35.

  • Highly unlikely anything could ever compete with oil? I strongly disagree with that statement....

  • I completely agree with everything you just said.

  • So we become the aliens where so concerned about taking over other planets for there resources we need to survive!

  • Run for president bro... america would be alot better

  • You have an amazing mind bro..... Biggest blow away was your Paradox, I'm addicted to googling what i can find on them, First found on on R3 becide BenHeck btw....

  • I would vote for Dan Brown if he ran for president.

  • God it's so hard to narrow down a specific thing that keeps me up at night. Besides its pretty late and i don't want to think about that ;)

  • So hey Dan I think we as a general pogo tribe are all thinking the same thing. Can you run for president? Like seriously I would sleep so much better knowing you took part in any portion of our government. Like this if you agee.

  • @filibusterfirework74 unfortunately, he can't... yet! he has to be at least 35 years old and with minimal political experience.

  • @filibusterfirework74 42 likes... This means... THAT DAN IS THE IS THE POINT OF LIFE.

  • @filibusterfirework74 Isn't he too young to run for president?

  • @filibusterfirework74 He can't be president for another fourteen years. :(

  • @WeasleyWrock I know I have heard that from a couple of people. Is that the same for all portions of the government though? I mean does he have to be 35 to be a governor or just any government position?

  • @filibusterfirework74 he needs to be 35 to hold the position of president you can be i think it changes from state to state for age of governor.

  • @filibusterfirework74 I believe that 25 is the age for a state representative in the House, and 30 is the age for Senators in the Senate. Governors vary by state, but I think that most states would require a candidate to be 30.

  • @WeasleyWrock Oh alright thanks. I cant say I have be best political knowledge. But I hope once dan does become old enough he will participate in some part of the government.

  • @filibusterfirework74 i do not think he is old enough.

  • @filibusterfirework74 As awesome as that would be, I don't think Dan is old enough to be president. You know you have to be 35, right?

  • @filibusterfirework74 Presidential candidates must be over the age of 35, which Dan is not. Now, Dan running for other, lesser offices in the meantime....I think everyone can support that.

  • @filibusterfirework74 Saying it plain and simple. He is not old enough,

  • Dan Brown: Run for president. Please. PLEASE. You would be AMAZING.

  • ahhh completely intelligent! that seriously scared me, but i never thought about any of it that way. thaaanks dan you are my favorite :) (dont tell the others)

  • Dan you should watch this documentary called gas hole on netflix. You only need to watch the first 15 minutes, but this documentary really explains a lot. It talks about how scientists found ways to get 100 miles to a gallon of gas, but corrupt oil companies covered it up.

  • Dan For President!

  • im scared of having to pay for youtube

  • @geek2thextreme then keep watching ads.

  • Dan for president.

  • I defenetly agree with the whole fossile fuel thing. I mean we got ourselves into this so if our population or species dies out its gonna be our own fault. Humans.....we think we r smarter than we r.....

  • Low scale: shots, spiders, litter, stuff that doesn't last forever (because they are eventually going to come out with something newer and better and stop producing the old stuff and if I like the old stuff... Dang)

High scale: loss of water, population of bullys and chriminals increasing(death),

  • We are all destined to die, my friend, so why worry about it?

  • *goes back under ignorant rock and tries to forget this video*

  • Small scale: Kidney Stones

Large scale: Never waking up from a nightmare (it's happened to me before, it's scary)

  • @gobackto82 shit man, i know what you mean.

  • im afraid of zombies

  • Great job, Dan.

  • not hard enough!?!? what the fack am i doin?

    all my life!

i gues the few individuals that do don't compare to the masses :)
