in fact thats why that man who won the first ufc dropped from it because it became bound by more rules which in true reality combat should always be used to save you from death by your opponent. to train with rules in place changes the ways of the fighters which is what ufc tries to do but fighting has everything to do with bjj its for the smaller quicker more balanced fighter to use an opponents aggresiveness against him for false advantages of a fallen fighter who is on his back

Bruce Lee was a Wing Chun artist first and foremost. He was taught by the Grand master Yip Man and was his number 1. After Yip Man died Bruce Lee became one of the Grand-masters as he had among the older masters no peer. It is why when Bruce started to teach here in America other Masters were against him and tried to stop him. They did this by challenge by combat. He Won his match and thus earned his right to teach. It was his proof of technique and prowess though not many people know about it.
@ZexxesQuintara Bruce Lee never became a Grandmaster of Wing Chun. He took the parts of Wing Chun that he found the most useful, as well as parts from other styles he had trained in, and created the style Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee died roughly half a year after Yip Man died.
@elmondae I never said Bruce Lee was a Grand Master of Wing Chun. I said simply that since he was Yip Man's number 1, he would be the natural successor to Yip Man. Since Yip Man named no successor, then Bruce Lee would be the defacto Master of that fighting style as his number 1. Since there were no other masters of Wing Chun of Yip Man's import he would be the Grand Master of that fighting style.
Bruce was far from Yip Mans number one student. Bruce had to learn much from the students that were above him since apparantly the fact that Bruce was 25% German made it an issue as far as Yip Man teaching him directly. Bruce Lees real story is much more intereseting than any movie he ever made. However Yip Mans real story was far from what you see in the YM movies,which are totally overblown.
Since their was no appointed successor and Bruce Lee was his acknowledged number 1 and there is no other master of Bruce Lee's import then Bruce Lee would in effect be the Grand Master of that fighting style. It does not matter whether Bruce Lee branched off into his own form (or lack thereof) of martial art.
It does not matter that he died shortly after Yip Man. It only mattered that there was no one else suitable for the title given or not, legitimate or not at the time of Yip Man's death. That's all. I apologize for my embellishments. As anyone would know there isn't has never been a Grand Master of said style: Wing Chun boxing. But if there was, Yip Man would be at its head until his death. After which Bruce Lee would be its head.

If you knew anything at all about this man you would respect him and what he stood for and cease to make ridiculous comments like your current one. His Martial Art is essentially MMA for street/real world combat and not a sport competition with tons of rules.

"belts are only good for holding up your pants" anyone claiming to be a black belt in jeet kune do obviously doesnt know what they are doing or doesnt understand the art. ive read bruce lee's books and there is lots of ground fighting. bruce lee doesnt go to the ground much because he usually ends people with 2 or 3 hits

He founded, developed, taught his OWN art of fighting, and took alot of shit for it...old school hard core people from the East coming to the states to hunt him down old school. @cwalkmatt but being on guard all the time is also a bad habbit if you want to remain formless, i think the best mode to be in is an enhanced awareness of your surroundings, not awake or asleep but quick enough to decide the right move to make in a split second, without needing to be constantly on the lookout. A cat isnt constantly in defence mode, but it comes up fast when needed.

Bruce Lee was a Wing Chun artist first and foremost. He was taught by the Grand master Yip Man and was his number 1. After Yip Man died Bruce Lee became one of the Grand-masters as he had among the older masters no peer. It is why when Bruce started to teach here in America other Masters were against him and tried to stop him. They did this by challenge by combat. He Won his match and thus earned his right to teach. It was his proof of technique and prowess though not many people know about it.

@ZexxesQuintara Bruce Lee never became a Grandmaster of Wing Chun. He took the parts of Wing Chun that he found the most useful, as well as parts from other styles he had trained in, and created the style Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee died roughly half a year after Yip Man died.

Since Yip Man named no successor, then Bruce Lee would be the defacto Master of that fighting style as his number 1. Bruce was far from Yip Mans number one student. Bruce had to learn much from the students that were above him since apparantly the fact that Bruce was 25% German made it an issue as far as Yip Man teaching him directly. Bruce Lees real story is much more intereseting than any movie he ever made. However Yip Mans real story was far from what you see in the YM movies,which are totally overblown.

Since their was no appointed successor and Bruce Lee was his acknowledged number 1 and there is no other master of Bruce Lee's import then Bruce Lee would in effect be the Grand Master of that fighting style. It does not matter whether Bruce Lee branched off into his own form (or lack thereof) of martial art.

It does not matter that he died shortly after Yip Man. It only mattered that there was no one else suitable for the title given or not, legitimate or not at the time of Yip Man's death. That's all. I apologize for my embellishments. As anyone would know there isn't has never been a Grand Master of said style: Wing Chun boxing. But if there was, Yip Man would be at its head until his death. After which Bruce Lee would be its head.
