I was hoping that Clapton On Clapton was some kind of codename for a cloning experiment. :)
Seriously though,it would be cool if we clone these artists instead of sheep so the generations in the future can at least get a lifelike feel of this music.
i think there are certain ways that an artist values the unimportant travels to past..music is the best exposure and expose..if you ask me lyrics come later, thats why he is remembered more of an instrumental performer or a musician instead of a star...
When I was 17 I sold my Blood for $5.00 so I could buy an LP record I found in the Import bin of the old Leonard Bros. dept. store in Ft. Worth, Texas. The record was the "Beano" album: "John Mayall with Eric Clapton". I was taking a big chance with my $5 and was praying that it had the Blues Guitar sound I was looking for on it. When I got back home & put it on my record player...It changed my life forever. When I heard the fire from Eric's Les Paul, chills ran down my spine. They still do.
WOW......i bought tickets for your concert for my parents but then i realized that i was too obsessed and i took them for myself...people may think its weird that a 14 year old girl has Layla as her ringtone...but thats normal...for clapton fans...ROCK ON DUDE...!!
@CullenFan1313 Oh yeah I go to school with the Eric clapton shirt i bought from his recent tour and people are like "who is he?" and I'm like "Greatest guitarist ever"
@MissAngelynn13 thats pretty awesome....i took guitar this year and at the end of the year my teacher gave us a quiz game thingy and we had to listen to songs and write who they were by and i was the only one who got more than onw right.....actually i got all of them....they were like Clapton, Dire Straits, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Who......
everytime i see Eric i always feel sorry for him, he is one of the greatest guitarist ever! He has revolutionized music, he has given so much... but i can't ever think about his kid... makes me so sad :S
Its Great that Mr. Clapton can now do Music he has heard in the past and reMaster it to his own. ! Great Stuff!!!, Be Thankful you have Hair you can grow out!, lol.
@LakicGuitar He is not called God for playing shite like this ya plum, I do listen to Clapton but THIS is not how he got that nickname. I'm away to listen to Buddy Guy I dont think he'll be playing any crap like this!
@sheltieshaun You seriously need to get your ears checked...and your brain too...these songs are the ones which inspired Clapton in the first place...These songs are very good, the only thing is they are DIFFERENT from the ones he played before...that's why you don't like 'em...
@LakicGuitar Firstly i've had my ears checked and I have tinitus, and the constant ringing in my ears is better than listening to most of this. These songs did NOT inspire Clapton for gods sake, it was Howlin' Wolf, B.B. King, Otis Rush and Buddy Guy, if these songs influenced him I think his time in The Yardbirds would have sounded a bit different and I don't think the Godfather of the british blues scene John Mayall would have been eager to get him on board.
@sheltieshaun sorry about the tinitus dude. And sorry about my attitude back then. I'm a huge fan of Clapton and I kinda get offended when somebody says something he did sucks. Anyways you're a Clapton fan,but you don't like the latest album, and I'm a Clapton fan and I like it...It's all about the music taste...
A man of many faces........He can play guitar and sing just about any song and it will still have the Clapton touch......He is the most talented man I know, and adore!!!!!! I just Love Him!
very well said EC at first i thought wheres Erics solos but then i realised its more vocal one thing eric hasnt done is show off his vocal side in Clapton hes done just that see you in cardiff 2011 big man
@xMrCustom24x I THINK Clapton is HOT~ ''A BEAUTIFUL MAN''~ LIKE A FINE WINE~ONLY BETTER WITH AGE~We are so all blessed to be here Now~Blessing's,Peace,LOVE,Light~
Well, I must say....''THE UNIVERSE HAS BLESSED US ALL'' with your suprise~ it is a suprise~A very Pleasant one at that~THANKYOU~''WE LOVE YOU''~ :) KEEP ON ROCKIN~
He's in a good place in his life, no more abuse of drugs and alcohol. He has a new American wife and kids. His music just gets better and better as he gets older. Like a fine wine, he gets better with age.
Got the CD today - well well, totally surprised about the new CD - musical taste is different - I love it, totally relaxed - amazing stuff - was at once reminded to Ry Cooder's JAZZ. Both are great artists!
Clapton is my idol i love his playin thats why i picked up a guitar but its time for him to put another rock album out and show these little kids who the boss is
Can't wait to pick up a copy, and Clapton, you just keep goin' backwards, do what ever you want as long as you keep doin' albums and live shows.
Love that he goes backwards and expands the common music knowledge among people, I mean how many guitarists and listeners learned discovered Robert Johnson from Clapton, I know I did.
The fact that he goes backwards makes me more excited, cuz he'll blow and expand my mind, just know it, CAN'T WAIT!!!
Eric Clapton - My Father's Eyes Eric Clapton - Cocaine Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight Eric Clapton - Change the World Eric Clapton - Pretending Eric Clapton - Bell Bottom Blues Eric Clapton - Reptile Eric Clapton - Forever Man
His voice sounds sooooo much more relaxed, like he is FINALLY HIMSELF, God Bless him. He has done everything and now he has found his singing voice, IMO.
I love the last seconds of this clip - to see EC pick up his guitar and walk - very Eric Clapton, and a good trademark. I am a forever fan of Eric Clapton. I'm anticipating this cd - can't wait for the end of the month. I wish I could get the limited edition cd, but I'll be happy with the cd :)
Can't wait to hear anything that he plays. Saw him in Cleveland two years ago and bought my ticket 15 minutes before the start of the show. I sat in the first row, center seat and Eric Clapton was 10 ft away ...the most fabulous musical experience of my lifetime. It seemed surreal then as it still does today..
i have to see Clapton live before something tragic were to ever happen to him which i doubt because hes god.He used to take sleeping medication then stay awake by snorting cocaine. He can live through anything
Keep going Eric. It doesn't matter what you do because you have certainly earned the right to play what you want. You've given us so much already and I am grateful for that. It was you who first really moved me with your guitar ( Bluesbreakers) and later with your singing (Dominoes).
Nice to see EC is working on some of the same music I grew up with too - it seems like so many artists make these kinds of 'classics' albums but they end up being so much 'filler' in their reprotoir - where EC is concerned, I am more than confident that will not be the case... like he says, the recording came out to be more than expected (doesn't it always with him?) I look forward to more from EC.
This new hairstyle of him makes him look older... He is 65 years old, it's not that much... I'd say we still have at least more 10 - 15 years of Eric Clapton with us...
ERIC IS A GUITAR GENIUS. HE IS LOOKING A LOT OLDER NOW MORE THEN BEFORE......SURPRISED TO SEE A JIM DUNLOP FUZZ FACE (BLUE MODEL)...I WISH HE WOULD TEAM UP WITH ROBIN TROWER BEFORE THEY BOTH DIE. It WOULD BE ONE AMAZING COMBINATION OF TALENT. SOME OLD SONGS AND SOME NEW ONES. TGW. GREAT TALENT....ROD STEWART ON VOCALS TOO MAYBE.
Having heard 30 second snips of every song on this album and having seen him play 2 of these songs live this summer, I can it wil be a huge hit with his fans. There is a vareity with this album like no other he has done. I have my collecters edition on pre-order. Thanks Eric, and I am awaiting a tour announcement to promote this album.
@Maidenman0815 Totally agree, when I heard it, it sent shivers down my spine! I only just got into clapton about a year ago and I have been missing out - BIG TIME!
I never like Eric when I was in the 70s, but for the last 15 years I have come to appreciate this man who is a musical treasure. I love his style, his voice, and his choices in songs. I love his version of Before you Accuse me on the Journeyman CD and Unplugged CD. I love his classics like Wonderful Tonight, Layla, and the bluesy stuff like Tore down. I am 52 an intermediate guitarist, and I would have to say he is the best guitarist in the world, with Buddy Guy not far behind and BB King.
@RyanMartinMulcahey It's the stages or the circle of life. It is time for the new guys to step up. We may not have him around much longer or he could last like BB King who is 82 and still playing, just a little slower. Enjoy them while you can. Look at Elvis, gone at 42 or was it 40.
Yes! I'm ready for a new one from the man himself. There's nothing like knowing what you're all about and just letting it happen naturally - this record is going to be magical.
I have loved Eric Clapton since the first moment I heard him--wayyyy back when. Hopefully I will get to see him in concert some day! So anxious to get the new cd, light the sandalwood, just sit back and listen. Thanks EC for all the beautiful music you have made.
Man, I can't wait for this one. It's so great that you're are able to go back and make albums that you want to make. Sounds great. I can't wait to put in the cd and pull out the guitar and learn the licks.
I love this man. I can't wait to hear his new album. It MUST be great because HE IS great. And I;m really glad he keeps on playing and creating sometnig new. I think it will be his big return to the roots, where everytnig has started...
Thank you Mr Clapton for making music from the heart. You could have used your fame and fortune to produce another dime a dozen risk free commercial album but thank God you did not. Hopefully this album will do what your early Blues albums did: reintroducing people to real artists like Louis Armstrong and real music like New Orleans Jazz.
ah I truly can comprehend what he means by enjoying the art that has been discovered..surely as my daughter thinks; your own interpretation makes it your own, with a different angle.. well an artist can change the world to his own direction. I saw Clapton and Winwood live a year ago, and that was one of the best thing I have ever done for myself...well the other one was getting my book published!
I was hoping that Clapton On Clapton was some kind of codename for a cloning experiment. :)
Seriously though,it would be cool if we clone these artists instead of sheep so the generations in the future can at least get a lifelike feel of this music.

I am 52 an intermediate guitarist, and I would have to say he is the best guitarist in the world, with Buddy Guy not far behind and BB King.

its sad how old he is getting

@RyanMartinMulcahey It's the stages or the circle of life. It is time for the new guys to step up. We may not have him around much longer or he could last like BB King who is 82 and still playing, just a little slower. Enjoy them while you can. Look at Elvis, gone at 42 or was it 40.

@RyanMartinMulcahey I think a haircut will make him look more youthful, but he can do what he wants - he is GOD!
