Scenes of this movie remind me of the OWS protests. One difference, the barren buy children on the black market. These acts of women against women objectify children and have made them another capitalist product to be consumed.
This is the scene that really hooked me on this movie,it is perfectly done.I love how different the world is behind the gates and the song fits so well.I watch it at least once a month,it is at the same time, touching, terrifying, and timeless(the 3 T's,if you will)the end never fails to make me squirt out a few tears, esp.when all the soldiers first see the baby. My only complaint would be that Zan(Theo's cousin)is not a central character, though it really does not take anything away from the film.
@panzercat39 Not to reply to my own post but yes I do realize that in the film Theo's cousin is named Nigel,in the book he was called Zan and was the main antagonist.I still like the film better than the book, but I really thought the film could and should had used Nigel/Zan in a more important role.
Being a young man in London and listening to this really shows see how down this country is going. Such brutal interpretations intended in Sinfields words about the future. What an album!
Most of the best films never do get much recognition because most people who watch movies arent intelligent enough to recognize their greatness. It sad but true that even today the majority of the world's population are ininspired, uneducated idiots. and the fact that there is more dumb crap on TV today then it used to be just proves it. Sometimes I wonder if society is really advancing or getting worse.
@MrPhukyou we are certainly regressing here in the US, as I'm sure is the case in many areas. Hopefully there isn't a British equivalent of Justin Bieber. If so, maybe we can hope the Mayan calendar is accurate. Its really sad, but if you stop and think there is virtually no media out there anymore that will stand the test of time. There are only a handful of worthwhile, creative films coming along anymore (one every 5 years) and solid music is becoming more scarce as well. What happened?
@PanekPL useless comment. please watch the fucking movie or don't, but FYI this scene's dialogue actually involves King Crimson. I don't suppose you can be arsed to actually watch the movie before being a keyboard hero.
@PanekPL Hey, I am sorry. The only thing that should should be gotten rid here is actually you.
It impresses me that someone that can't appreciate something as beautiful as King Crimson (and, oh, Lake's voice <3... and later with Wetton and , ahh, Adrian Belew ) can, somehow, appreciate all the beauty in Pink Floyd.
This little fragment of the movie really introduced me to prog rock. Now it all makes sense.. the song, the power station, the pig floating in the sky...
Such an underrated and brilliant film. I love all the little music visual jokes scattered in there, like the Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones and King Crimson references. I'm sure there's a few more - it's been ages since I saw it.
Thx for this. The scene between Nigel & Theo is a masterpiece. Could it be possible to upload the extended part in 'deleted scenes' where Nigel says 'whatever....whatever' even as Theo continues to be amused by the art collection?
I about exploded with joy when I heard this song in the film (though I remember it was a step higher for some reason). Then I saw the floating pig and jizzed my pants.
actually it is, and I hope battersea plant (the exterior structure) have the same use in the future that the tate modern has today, because it was also an energy plant, and both are in london.
@MrJS15 This is easily one of the best films ever made; and I couldn't agree more- it's very much in Kubrick's style. This song really sets the tone for the Ark of the Arts scene (BTW- loved the PF Pig between the stacks of the Battersea Power Station)
It's a genious idea to accompany the Ark of the Arts scene with a King Crimson track, especially with this one. The whole scene is great with the British limousine, the Trafalgar sq., the Household Cavalry, Pink Floyd's floating pig, the Guernica, Michelangelo's David. I feel that KC produced sg that is part of humankind's most noble heritage. Of course Great Britain has continously made great artworks but somehow Britain has a strong habit on collecting art and this scene refers to this as well
i just noticed that the (clive owen) is sitting on the left hand side of the car when he is travelling and observing out of the window, yet on arrival he exits the car from the right hand side....
well um its not like thats a film flaw like someone having there collar up or down in a different cut... its perfectly possible for him to scoot down the seat and get out the other door...
Scenes of this movie remind me of the OWS protests. One difference, the barren buy children on the black market. These acts of women against women objectify children and have made them another capitalist product to be consumed.

Another great Mexican director, another great Mexican Movie.
Cuaron hit so many levels of morality in this movie. The government elite, terrorism, immigration, and the future of the world itself.
It is a scary movie because it makes us look at ourselves, real look at ourselves.
Kudos Children of Men.
