T-mobile likes to take advantage of my parents. Let's get back at them. It costs them roughly 1-2 dollars a phone call minimum; if you can take up 5 mins of the representative's time that's about 7 bucks.
1-800-937-8997 This is their direct line and will not cost you anything; try to call from a landline to avoid expense. Let's start making them pay!!
it's only selling out if your music output panders to a commercial audience instead of being an artistic statement true to the artist. because if you pander to an audience like that, you are only trying to make money, not music. of montreal has NEVER been like that
Yes, not to mention that they used the money from this and other commercials to fund their last 2 or 3 massively elaborate tours. Tours they wouldn't be able to have done one record sales alone. So, I think anyone who's bitching about them doing commercials who has also seen an amazing oM show in the past three years should be biting their tongue right now.
yeah, i don't see anything wrong with it. cell phone companies aren't the devil, they do a good thing, they sell you people cell phones so you can talk to each other. without cell phone companies, there would be no fucking cell phones!! half of you people probably are tmobile subscribers!
Kevin looks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!! Then again when doesn't he look good!?
I'm going to agree with everything here except the last sentence. Whats bad about it? They sell out, no doubt, but it doesn't affect their actual musical output which has always been consistantly great.
for such a known band, they still play it pretty indie. i havent seen them in a huge concert hall yet, though they may now, but for ever, they just played pretty intimate concerts.
its not about the music, its about the visuals and overall experience. you can't reproduce the sort of music they have in their albums on stage, you shouldn't have expected that.
Backhandjake honestly, I think you should accomplish somethign if thats the best night of your life. Or put down the smokiler wokilers and come down from cloud 9
lol you watched a commercial, and the only thing you can think about is professing your Of Montreal discography knowledge? i didn't see any mention of their albums. or their songs for that matter...
I was commenting another person's opinion to which album is best. Please don't try to fight with me over something like of Montreal. They were meant to be listened to, not fought over.
is the manager's name [billy magnum] a reference to jeff magnum from neutral milk hotel? maybe i'm giving t-mobile too much credit, but that's what i thought of when i first saw this commercial...
well jeff mangnum was one of the starters of elephant six records, which is the label for neutral milk hotel and of montreal. So I guess billy is jeff's brother, so he manages all of elephant six's bands, including of montreal.
I love it! "DUSSELDORF!!" will be my new catchphrase for the next few months :p
Selling out a little, especially when you do it with a good sense of humor about yourself, is a completely forgivable sin. I think Of Montreal are in the clear on this one (and Outback's people lied to them about how 'Wraith' would be used, so that one's not even their fault). Gwen Stephani, on the other hand. . . . . .
I fucking hate t-mobile, their service is garbage and they ruined my life. how DARE you even fucking support them this way. you're as big a DOUCHEBAG as all of the t-mobile staff, but of montreal is the shit.
I've met them a million times, and they are all extremely kind people. Did your friends bring up the Outback commercial? Because I don't blame them for being assholes if they did. You get what you give.

I heard wraith pinned to the mist was originally written about steaks and gronlandic edit was written to sell phones. You let your work sell products and I can't take it seriously anymore. You do a commercial and you're no longer a real artist.
The music is still good it's just a respect issue. I'll point to the fact that the Unicorns turned down a couple million to put I was born a Unicorn in a Nike commercial. Even when they were poor as all hell. You gotta repect that.
Kevin said an in interview that the outback commercial was the only way they could afford to do all they did with their last tour. Which trust me, I got to see them twice on it and it was incredible.
