This was electronically lifted from the original as they did with some of Elvis's singles. The voices are a little tinny sounding and such no longer is done due to the poor quality of the lifting. But the Bobby Hatfield originals are unbeatable and the voice is enough to knock your socks off! RIP Bobby, I grew up listening to you and your partner and I still love it! I was so fortunate to grow up while the music meant something. Thank you for that! I was only 7 when that came out. WOW!!!

This recording is beautifully done, but it is NOT the RB version. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference because Bobby Hatfield sang this on many different occasions and some of them were recorded. Try the version on youtube that is the soundtrack from the movie Ghost. If this one is not the original either please let me know.

This song is great and always will be. You almost want to start crying when it gets into it. The song says so much. I would like to have it at my wedding. Would it be ok to use it as the 1st dance? I don't know. May people hear this song and it brings tears of hurt. @xTenTenXheartsXNejix Hi, the only trouble with being alive then is that you would be my age now which is 72. I was in high school during the 1950's. It was a truly AMAZING time to be a teen. The emerging music of the 50's and 60's was mind boggling, emancipating, and totally wonderful.

It is a wonderful feeling that she is missing out on, probably because she is just self concious. Two of my other favs are also slow (complete with memories of a 16 year old) Roy Hamilton's "You'll Never Walk Alone" and The Dream Weavers' "It's Almost Tomorrow". (Leather jackets and duck tails too with a cig pack rolled up in a tee sleeve..oh my) I hope you can get your girl to dance with you. Well I'm younger, but I always ran with older guys that lived close to us in the country. I'm 60 and wouldn't trade it for anything. Young ppl. today have no idea what they missed. In the late 50's and 60's rock and roll started it all. Friday and Sat. night dances, no one drove foreign cars--I had a 55 chevy 2 door hardtop, most my friends had 55-57 chevies, a few Fords---Caroline--I still dance like there is no tomorrow--because-----------yo­u never know ;)

@shirtlessman Yep, I remember the Chevies and Fords and the fishtails on some of them, if you could afford the fancy stuff. I mostly remember the dances on Fri. and Sat. nights. We called them "sock hops" and it was soooo cool if you knew how to do the "bop". As for you still dancing...I hope you NEVER stop! Dancing still makes me happy and, even if I sit most out, I love to watch.

This was the background music for a little known movie circa 1953/54. When words were added it became a mega,mega hit. Absolutely nobody, no one can sing it like the Righteous bros. When it was added to the Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze movie Ghost it just came round again even more loved it... It is truly one of the great songs of the decade in the 20th century.

(as you've discovered) It's definitely one of the best but there have been many excellent songs recorded. The movie, Ghost, resurrected it or most people today would never have heard it. Really good love songs are timeless. Unchained Melody will still be a favorite 100 years from now. (may have to be rediscovered again, though)
