this is just wonderful, i love this version. your right you don't find many real voices now days. i did find one of a guy on you tube singing karaoke. he's singing this song and does a really good job. he makes it his own version. check it out...( rocky standridge unchained melody )
Many people don't know that the lyrics, by Hy Zaret, were written for and heard in the 1955 film "Unchained," and the song was nominated for an Academy Award (it lost to "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing").
Also, the Righteous Brothers were not the first to have a hit with the song. In 1955, three different records (by Les Baxter, Al Hibbler and Roy Hamilton) made the top 10 in Billboard Magazine. Harry Belafonte sung it at the A-Awards ceremony in 1956. LOL
If you wanna hear a real voice singing this song, go to rocky standridge unchained melody here on you tube. He's singing karaoke and he really good! Kind of mix between Conway & Elvis. There are some good voices out there today, they just haven't been discovered yet???
If you want to hear a real voice singing this song that is fantastic, go to (rocky standridge unchained melody) He's singing karaoke and wow, what a voice! He has some other music on here also,,,,,, ENJOY!
74 PERSONS did not like this song. I can understand subjectivity and personal choice but I still wish I could have them experience what so many others feel when they hear this classic.
This was electronically lifted from the original as they did with some of Elvis's singles. The voices are a little tinny sounding and such no longer is done due to the poor quality of the lifting. But the Bobby Hatfield originals are unbeatable and the voice is enough to knock your socks off! RIP Bobby, I grew up listening to you and your partner and I still love it! I was so fortunate to grow up while the music meant something. Thank you for that! I was only 7 when that came out. WOW!!!
This recording is beautifully done, but it is NOT the RB version. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference because Bobby Hatfield sang this on many different occasions and some of them were recorded. Try the version on youtube that is the soundtrack from the movie Ghost. If this one is not the original either please let me know.
This song is great and always will be. You almost want to start crying when it gets into it. The song says so much. I would like to have it at my wedding. Would it be ok to use it as the 1st dance? I don't know. May people hear this song and it brings tears of hurt. I see two things in this song, The pain of losing someone and feeling their sole and then the most strongest love that someone can give and have nothing take that away.
It breaks my heart to hear of somebody's loss, especially so sudden. Del Shannon did a song in the early '60's about the car crash his girlfriend died in. probably not true, but the fact remains, the pain of loss is always with us. It will go away. I heard this song when I was 9 years old. still remember it. have faith my friend. luv, daniel
@xTenTenXheartsXNejix Hi, the only trouble with being alive then is that you would be my age now which is 72. I was in high school during the 1950's. It was a truly AMAZING time to be a teen. The emerging music of the 50's and 60's was mind boggling, emancipating, and totally wonderful.
@CarolineReznicek i wouldnt mind being 72 if i was able to have grown up in such an amazing time. everytime i listen to stuff like this i picture myself slow dancing to this with my gurl like i saw on grease with the tight leather jackets and all that. lol. she likes music like this but she wont dance to it; ive tried to get her to do it but she wont. lol. i guess with the internet we can travel back in time and live it thru the music right?
@akn0ledge LOL, You WOULD mind being 72 if your knees and feet hurt so you couldn't dance to the music you liked... but anyway, I am sorry that your girl won't slow dance with you. It is a wonderful feeling that she is missing out on, probably because she is just self concious. Two of my other favs are also slow (complete with memories of a 16 year old) Roy Hamilton's "You'll Never Walk Alone" and The Dream Weavers' "It's Almost Tomorrow". You might like those too. good luck with your GF.
@akn0ledge LOL you would if your knees ached and you couldnt dance. I have some beautiful memories of slow dancing just like you picture in your mind. (Leather jackets and duck tails too with a cig pack rolled up in a tee sleeve..oh my) I hope you can get your girl to dance with you. There is nothing like being lost in each others arms to beautiful music. Also try Roy Hamilton's "You'll Never Walk Alone" and the Dream Weavers' "It's Almost Tomorrow".
Well I'm younger, but I always ran with older guys that lived close to us in the country. I'm 60 and wouldn't trade it for anything. Young ppl. today have no idea what they missed. In the late 50's and 60's rock and roll started it all. Friday and Sat. night dances, no one drove foreign cars--I had a 55 chevy 2 door hardtop, most my friends had 55-57 chevies, a few Fords---Caroline--I still dance like there is no tomorrow--because-----------you never know ;)
@shirtlessman Yep, I remember the Chevies and Fords and the fishtails on some of them, if you could afford the fancy stuff. I mostly remember the dances on Fri. and Sat. nights. We called them "sock hops" and it was soooo cool if you knew how to do the "bop". As for you still dancing...I hope you NEVER stop! Dancing still makes me happy and, even if I sit most out, I love to watch.
This was the background music for a little known movie circa 1953/54. When words were added it became a mega, mega hit. Absolutely nobody, no one can sing it like the Righteous bros. When it was added to the Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze movie Ghost it just came round again even more loved it... It is truly one of the great songs of the decade in the 20th century.
Natural Voices > Autotune. Any idiot with connections can sing now with auto tune. We the intelligent people know what a real voice is, and this is amazing.
This is a digital version of th original and does sound a litler tinny. But such a great song it is always good. Thanks for the post...Bobby is uncompared in my eyes. I loved them in 1965 and still do today.
One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. Started listening to it when I was a little kid and I'm in my mid 50's. Some songs get better with time and Unchained Melody always does.

Old now, and just pittle around my yard with my dogs and my tortoise. I play this in the afternoon and ALL their tails wag. I myself, just remember....
Wow...this really brings back good memories. I went to the Oakland Coliseum Arena to them in concert with my high school girlfriend. I must of been 17 at the time. Awsome concert.
Oh My Sweets, YOUR Text-Msg & This Music Really Touched Me! BEAUTIFULLY GordonGA...My Love Is Warmer Than The Warmer Sunshine, Deeper Than The Deepest Ocean, And There's Nothing In The World That Could Change My World.
This song makes me want to grab my soulmate tight around the waist and pull her close to my soul....with time standing still in the back whisper ever so softly in her ear that she has truly stepped into my heart and left footprints to last forever!!
So amazing..every once in a great while Im suprised by a song..like Ive been awakened..so suprised that I have to listen to it over and over. This is the kind of sound that nurtures the soul..Powerful beyond words..Can you feel it?Supremely GOOD.Just close your eyes and feel it..So strong...In the same league as Ave Maria..beautiful.This is what its all about ladies and gentlemen.
When I was in boot camp during Vietnam War, this song was played over and over by all the guys leaving their girls behind. Still brings a tear to my eye since many of them never returned.
One of my all time favorites!
