Absolutely stunning track. My first couple of listens, I didn't like this, but now when I listen to this album, I just drop whatever I'm doing, close my eyes, and let this song wash over me. It's amazing.

That's my favorite moment of  the album (just right after the Erl King :P ) . Maybe the best classical doom band ! The whole record caressing you with beautyful, mesmerizing, dark melodies!

I don't really consider Pagan Altar to be doom metal. When I think of doom, I think of rediculous slow heavy shit some hippie writes when he's stoned. Pagan Altar are far too talented fo fit into that category.

Well sure, generalizing like that will never do a band justice, but i do consider them to be doom, mainly because of the gloomy themes of most of their songs. Besides, doom doesn't have to be ridiculously slow, as shown by black sabbath or witchfinder general.

@Outmind01 I agree. Sabbath practically spawned the genre. Witchfinder general aren't slow all the time either, neither are candlemass. There's plenty of doom bands with a boogie. I believe the themes and sorrowful nature epitomises doom. thanks for the upload, I forgot about this band (sacriledge)

@IceBeam21 there are actually a few different types of doom metal....this would be traditional doom im pretty sure. there is doom metal thats ridiculously slow and heavy that is probably created when the band members are stoned......but this is not that kind.

Take no notice of the genre, listen to the fucking music, and enjoy or otherwise. In my mind there are but two genres in the musical world, 'Good music', and 'Not so good music'! Stick to these principles and I guarantee you will find great bands that you otherwise would have shunned because of a label somebody else gave it...
