  • AMAZZINGGGG! Nobody has ever been as good as Elvis. Nobody has ever came close. And nobody will ever come close to what Elvis has accomplished and done. Elvis touched so many millions of lives.. God gave him an amazing talent, and unlike artists of the day, Elvis recognized God and gave credit for his talents to where credit was due. Elvis will always be the best performer of all time. I still watch his movies and listen to his music religiously.

  • AMAZING footage! I love Little Richards version but I love Elvis's too. he did this song because he liked it.

  • ahahah, what a bad version! who knows why those girls are so content with it.

Little Richard was just much more groovy and had a highly superior voice.

But yeah, black and bisexual. No good to make a sex-symbol out of him.

    What a shitty era.

  • It's so sad - he came from dirt poor parents - had he not he would be alive

  • I love little richard but to be honest he only has a handfull of good songs and only three good years. Elvis has sold over a billion records and has 263 gold and platinum records, more than double the second place being 106 by the Beatles. Little Richard is not in Elvis's league.

  • No! Elvis took no drugs, alcohol, amphetamines, in the 50s......you know, he made his fame naturally, contrary to the Beatles (that I love btw) that were junkies.....you know what I'm talking about

  • Fuck LRichard )he was gay, everybody know today).....he wish he had the style of Elvis of moving, dancing and singing

  • @qqsomething Without Little Richard, your ass wouldn't be watching this video since all Elvis did was simply bite another man's work.

  • I heard this was filmed in Tupelo where the Presley's had acquired a dubious reputation after Vernon got sent down for forging a cheque. However, when Elvis shot to stardom they wanted piece so invited him back to the town he'd once virtually been kicked out of. Wish I'd been there to see it.

  • No offence but he looks like he's on crack

  • Hard 2 believe in the 1950's any dancing like this wasn't accepted on T.V.'s , just think if 2days dancing was done back then it would have blow'n their minds .....What a country ...........

  • White people have no rhythm!!! Rock and Roll belongs to the Blacks!!!!! Elvis ripped off the Black Man and stole his fame!!!!!

  • @TheMJtheGOD The crowd of screaming white women disagree with you.

  • @LordAkira White women are retarded.

  • @TheMJtheGOD saying that white people dont have rhythm is saying like the pope is not a catholic you fool!

  • Wonder if little richard was in the crowd going BOOOOOOOOOO.

  • I never said that he did. Just take a look at the R&B charts of the time. And here is a very good article about "Elvis and Racism" with lots of photos of Elvis with black performers as well as black girls asking for autographs on Elvis.com.au. Elvis was an integrator not a racist. Maybe this finally gets your history lesson right. You are simply knocking the wrong man.

  • Like Elvis but Little Richards version is much better.

  • There were black artists that were popular with white audiences before Elvis and certainly a lot before MJ. These artists were popular with audiences of all kinds because they were very good. Same with Elvis who was very popular with black audiences in the 1950s as well .You can't beat quality.

  • @patriciaobrian You made a mistake, At that time racial segregation did not allow black audiences mixed with the white ones, so that Elvis never performed at the Apollo Theater.

  • @willpn100 I think you've misread her comment. She didn't say that the black and white fans were in attendance at the same shows, only that both races were fans. And a lot of people never performed at the Apollo. A lot of people never performed at Carnegie. And a whole lot of other places. That don't mean shit, brother.

  • @dangerbooboo But was Elvis the king? was not? It was his fault not to perfom at Apollo Theater (the home of black music). Don not forget that rock and roll is black music. The great names of rock and roll performed there: Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino,James Brown, Dj Alan Freeed, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley and Dale Hawkins the first white rocker and roller to perform at Apollo.

  • @willpn100 Ok, for the last goddam time, rock & roll is NOT "black music," my friend. I refuse to have this argument. Anyone who claims that rock & roll (or jazz or blues) BELONGS solely to blacks or whites is just plain ignorant. If you really believe it's black music, you need to learn theory and harmony, do some post-grad work in ethnomusicology, and learn to listen. Thanks, bye.

  • @dangerbooboo I did not say that rock and roll belongs to blacks. I said that rock and roll flourished with blacks. It´s fact, cos rock and roll was born in the guetto.

  • @dangerbooboo Until 1951, can you tell me how many white artists sang rock and roll songs?

  • @willpn100 the apollo means shit

  • @lekkerereet Why do you say that? Apollo Theater is the home of rock and roll! You should be pride of that.

  • @willpn100 i was always thinking that it was more for rhythm and blues, i love rock & roll dont get me wrong

  • @lekkerereet But rock and roll is rhythm and blues uptempo!. They´re both the same music. Black people developed them.

  • Elvis took off with black music for one reason. He was white. No black performer would ever get white people to pay that much attention to him just like no white performer would ever get that huge of a majority of black people to pay that much attention to him. People tend to relate to their singing idols. It's kind of hard to relate to someone who isn't even of the same race.

  • I love how the girls go absolutely crazy when Elvis shakes his legs! O.o! haha

  • oh, Where was I at that moment.. I missed a BIG happening.. ups.. I wasn't born yet :P once in a lifetime moment and I missed it :( I would almost give anything to see that performance live.. :) such a amaizing video ♥

  • oh, Where was I at that moment.. I missed a BIG happening.. ups.. I wasn't born yet :P once in a lifetime moment and I missed it :( I would almost give anything to see that performance live.. :)

  • 69 hehehehehehehehhehehehehehehehehe nice song but i think little richard did it better

  • @gorrilaboy3000 Well... Little Richard DID record the song before Elvis did...

  • ELVIS YOU ARE THE BEST, WE LOVE YOU <3 <3 <3

  • HE IS NO LITTLE RICHARD!!!

  • WOW!!!! He messed up a little Richard classic. If he was the king Little Richard was the Emperor.

  • @rexboogie WELL SAID!!!

  • @rexboogie yeah cos little richard did so much more with his career than elvis.

this is just one song. little richard was mega. elvis was mega.

Elvis changed with time. his live performance of the 70s were something NO other 50s artist ever got near. he adopted they didnt.

  • @bren85q Little Richard went back to his roots a became a preacher in his own church. He gave it all up to spread the word of God. Elvis sang the hits of people like Little Richard Big Mamma Thorton(hound dog) and made way more money then the people who wrote and sang the song originally. He was a rip off artist. Then he would go and mess the song up. Then White America would buy the record.Black groups had to put white people on covers to sell records. The truth is the truth.

  • @rexboogie lol, why are you even listening to this song then? seriously man, if you have such little interest in elvis.

i and many others have massive respect for the likes of little richard etc. and wouldnt waste our time going on the internet to slag him off. dont you find it a bit worrying, do u do the same to Eddie cochran for covering it too?

and then saying things like 'white america' and calling elvis a rip off artist. you make your self sound a little silly.

    Little R is a legend.

  • @rexboogie

Oh Jesus. Where do you guys get your education? Big Mama Thornton did not write Hound Dog. Two guys white as snow - Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller - wrote the song ;-).

  • @gfreedoms NO TENES IDEA PEREJIL MUSICAL QUIEN FUE ES Y SERA THE QUEEN ELVIS AARON PRESLEY¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • @gfreedoms no tenes ni idea las boludeces q decis¡¡¡perejil musical¡¡¡¡¡ adolfoeusebio

  • I'm so sick of the argument about what music "belongs" to whites and blacks. The only reason it's an argument in the first place is out of hatred and resentment between blacks and whites who haven't studied music theory and ethnomusicology enough to know the truth. Are you ready, people? (And this goes way beyond music, so buckle up.) WHITES NEED BLACKS AND BLACKS NEED WHITES. The music that exists now couldn't and wouldn't have been born without contributions of BOTH European and African music.

  • @dangerbooboo the who needs us latinos? lol

  • @zombie24681 Bro, I know I do. I was talking specifically about the roots of rock & roll (which, needless to say, are chiefly early jazz and blues, which could not and would not have existed without the meeting of European and African cultures in early America) but I was in no way trying to overlook or ignore the significance of the contribution of Latino cultures to the world of music. YouTube is unfortunately not the right forum for a proper discussion, but... (see next comment)

  • @dangerbooboo ...when I said "European" in my original comment, we should consider, in the interest of fairness, that I really wasn't excluding Latinos. Salsa and most other Cuban music exists because of the blending of Spanish, Taino, and West African musics. Samba and other Brasilian music is the result of Portuguese and African musics. The music of these and other Latino cultures have had an indescribably profound affect on today's music, both in America and elsewhere.

  • @dangerbooboo

    Great comment, my friend.

  • @patriciaobrian tyvm :) As a career musician and someone who has more or less dedicated his existence to good music, I get really tired of the petty arguments over what's good, who's better, who's responsible, etc. especially when the argument (or the arguing) is actually setting race relations BACK, when the original artists were doing our culture a great service by moving things FORWARD which, if you ask me, is where we're ALL supposed to be going RIGHT NOW. :)

  • @dangerbooboo

I'm not American, as you already may have guessed. The more I am surprised about the great amount of prejudice, racism as well as reverse racism and simply false information there still is inherent in American society. With the Internet it becomes even more apparent which I find very sad indeed.

  • @dangerbooboo I agree music doesn't belong to anybody other than the world. and whilst elvis may have got a lot of his musical stylings from local black singers, he borrowed an equal amount of influence from local white singers. he had the ability to not judge anybody by their skin which for a deep southerner like elvis was quite a feat at the time and combine to great types of music rythm and blues from the blacks and country from the whites to make something better: Rock and roll

  • @guitar19971 Elvis didn't make rock and roll though. You're wrong.... Chuck Berry came before Elvis.

  • @dangerbooboo Not a bad way to put things in perspective, but the fact remains that white's always generally hate black music until a talented white person shows them the art. Blacks founded rock and rap, yet it took Elvis and Eminem by in large to make it acceptable to them. Then these men get crowned kings of the art when the tracks of that art were laid long before. They even celebrated Elvis 1st album anniversay as "the birth of rock". LOL! Folks wonder why L Richard and C Berry get pissed?

  • Elvis was Little Richard for white people at the time.

  • Man, if I was the person holding the camera at 1:11 I would've reached out and touched him. And I love when he pulls his pants up during the guitar solo cause his dance moves were just too hip. =)

  • Thats why you should never record an outdoor concert with lots of screaming fans....

  • Little Richard had no charisma? Little Richard was just the wrong color at the wrong time. A lot of black artists would've been better than Elvis had racism not have been a factor. Remember what happened to Frankie Lymon when he danced with a white girl in the audience. That ended his career. Case closed.

  • The Beatles took their version from this one.

  • (a so called "white racist" would never even listen to records made by black people) let alone hang out in establishments where black artists performed. Elvis? Racist?hahaha not on you life!!!

  • No matter ones opinion of who's better. It did take Elvis to cross the racial barier in music and kick down the door, and keep going even with critics and controversy hounding him to no end. They even drafted him to try to stop him. Most people would have caved. And no one can denie Elvis his talent. espesially his voice. I do not believe Elvis to be racist, Don't put that on him, it's not true!!! Just listen to his music, where did that come from?

  • Elvis loved Little Richard songs. Little Richard has inspired Elvis, so that Elvis recorded four Little Richard´s songs. Elvis the king of "covers".

  • I do like Elvis...but i believe Little richard was a much better singer and entertainer.....Also black Musicians from this era do not have to thank Elvis for anything....It's the white mans fear, lack of education and controlling ways why artists like Little richard and others were not accepted. Can you imagine how many white teens were listening to Little Richard and truly believed him to be the King but because of the mind conditioning had to accept Elvis.

  • Elvis is not dead !! *-*

  • little richard had a great voice, a great rhythm no doubt about it....but Elvis had all of that and more, that's why he became so popular. Music is not only about sound, it's about style, looks, charisma....someone the teenagers can look and wish they would be like it. And Elvis in the 50s was something that we'll never see again in a long time....he was the first rock star, and the icon that every rock stars after him desired to be

  • Lithe richard was the first one real king of rock n roll... of course he recorded first this track and listen to litle richard how he performs...elvis was we know to women more by my opinion...l

  • Little Richard version is so much better he knew how to sing it.

  • @marrygbonham ...hahahaha.....how does it feel to be ME...FRAUD...! Elvis Was King of Rock'N'Roll...not King of Music...LMAO..!

  • @marygbonham ..stop coming to the king's videos and making negitive comments.keep ur ass off the elvis videos if all ur going to do is post bullshit!...Alot of Mj fans say MJ is the king of Music...i don't see you correcting them! He was the king of pop..not music!..get real Mary! What's fair for one,is fair for the other!

  • @ELVISAPLOVER5 ...As you have said MANY times...NOBODY is the King of Music. Elvis was the King of Rock-n-Roll, Michael is the King of Pop...neither of them was the King of Music...only the King of their own genre..!

  • @marygbonham right nobody is the king of music!...so now that we got that straight maybe you can remind the Mj fans of that fact!!!! LMFAO..but as we both know you're 2 faced and would never tell an MJ fan that!!!

  • why can't we all just love Elvis?? <3

  • @mscinematic40 Just settle for his eternal fan base! All inclusive love will never happen for any artist. . .

  • @slimdudeDJC Yesh yesh but i meant why can't we just... think he's great? instead of always having to believe there has to be comparison. We can think there are lots of great artists!!! And then everyone can be happpyy (tho i think elvis is the best haha...)

  • @mscinematic40 I thought "damned good" was great! He had a golden voice, can't deny it although some will. I think Luther Vandross had a great voice, so does Stevie Wonder, so does Adam Lambert ;0) !! But honestly, no one had/has the "best" voice. Just different from another's.

  • @slimdudeDJC Sure sure. I STILL LUV ELVIS THO. I'll be fond of other people. But I will never get over Elvis. I've liked other bands and singers and have gone through a normal phase of listening to their songs non-stop but I've gotten over them eventually. I have yet to cease through the one I'm going thru now with Elvis :PP EPFOREVERRR!!!

  • @mscinematic40 Well, ok lovely!! You make a good case for eternal fanship! I liked the Commodores when they were in their heyday. They could do no wrong, cept when Lionel left 'em. Still pissed!! Anyway, I think one day you'll flip over someone else and that will carry on for weeks, months even years. Tell me when it happens, I know I'm right on this one!! ;0)

  • Girls were hot in the 1950's.

  • i thank for the credit... but people should thank all the black great artist because without them Elvis would have to right his own songs... and wouldn't be as popular. Most of his songs had a black oregion

  • A weak watered down rip off of Little Richard....the hard truth, folks

  • ELVIS WAS GREAT IN AMERICAN HE HAS THE BEST IMATATION OF JACKIE WILSON I EVER SEEN. BLACK ARTIST WAS APPRICATE BY OTHER COUNTRY ABOARD. reason been is the music industry was trying to please the white parent by not playing black music however it did not stop their children and when Ray Charles came along the white kids got buck wide for black music. Elvis is not well know aboard check it out.;they will tell you he ok. but he is white version of Jackie wilson.

  • Elvis is dead and he could still get a blow job.....

  • blandengue! Yanki maricón!

  • What people dont realize is that before Elvis, black artists did not get their Just do. He helped bring his and there music on the AM radio so we all could enjoy it. 1 prime example is listen to Pat Boone doing Tutti Frutti and then nothing more has to be said. because that was what the old americans were trying to shove down young Americans throats.

  • To think what he did was considered "girating" is comical now when you see chicks shaking their butts to booty meat or whooty. I think those same people would die if they saw the girls now.

  • @Zazgar yea

  • This is the first time I have seen this clip with soundtrack. Did someone work out the music and apply the soundtrack? Brilliant whatever

  • I hear Frank Sinatra hated Elvis 'cause he changed the game on him..... out with the old, in with the new!

  • before Elvis there was nothing. (John lennon)

  • The best of All...

  • Much of the British invasion did the same as Elvis too.

  • Esto si se llama Rock And Roll Que Viva Elvis... That´s call Rock And Roll Elvis Forever...

  • man he gives me goosebumps... this was 1956 for fuck sake... he was hated and preached against by the majority... did this stop him? hell no!

elvis paved the way for every artist after him. can you imagine the music industry without elvis?

  • @haydengrayfilms

Sure can. But without Eddie Cochran?

  • he took little richard song i dnt think his the king o anything

  • Little Richard,Chuck Berry,Fats Domino were all there at the begining with Elvis and they were giants in rock and roll history. But Elvis had everything, looks charisma, and a voice none of them could match.Remember, this was 1956 and Elvis brought us out of the big band/crooner era of just a couple years earlier.

  • @geomay1 Chuck Berry started a year after Elvis in 1955,but i agree with you.

  • A lot of black artists should thank Elvis for being who he was. Without him, they wouldn't have been as popular as how they are now. Since black artists before weren't accepted, Elvis took their place and showed the world black music. He even credited them like he did in the 69' Conference, one guy said he was the king of rock n roll, Elvis pointed to Fats Domino, "He is the true king".

  • That Black Artist have themselves to thank, if people of other race's missed out on all that amazing music that would of been there loss, also the upincoming british invasion played alot of classic black music. Elvis played what he knew and aritist like Chuck Berry played what they wanted elvis never wrote any of his music.

  • @lance62 Honestly saying, Blacks should accept that their music was spread throughout the world with the help of some white artists, Elvis included. Elvis was not the reason they werent marketed fairly. Remember the kind of producers and marketeers they had to deal with in those days, including white artists. Buddy Holly received criticism b/c he was the first white guy to play in a Black club. That was saying something then. Holly had to have a considerable measure of soul to pull it off!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @elvispresley11 Too bad their estate can't share in the monetary windfall like his is...just sayin

  • @elvispresley11 look at lil richard he is amazing he is the real king of rock n his version was much better n he was really famous still is this is just a rip off of lil richards song

  • Comment removed

  • @shiichan32 Ok fine, if you think Lil Richard has a better version then so be it. I can't argue to what you think. If you think he's the true king of rock n roll, so be it. What can I do? But I believe Elvis Presley is the king, you can't change that. Go on and argue with people that Lil' Richard is the king, it's not gonna change the fact that Elvis Presley is the king of rock n roll!

  • @elvispresley11 Black artists weren't accepted?? Chuck Berry, Little Richard(the guy from whom Elvis borrowed this song!), Fats Domino, Cubby Checker. Wrong answer!! He would not be what he was if it weren't for the innovative skill in song, play and dance of many Black artists. Indeed, he was more popular b/c of racism. Dont misunderstand; Elvis was damn good and I liked him. But he was an amalgamation of Black "styles." He didn't have much to do with Black popularity.

  • @slimdudeDJC What I mean by "not accepted" is what you say "racism" at that time. I'll just sum it up for you to understand, Elvis needed blacks, and blacks needed Elvis.

  • @elvispresley11 Ok, I can certainly agree with that!! A very fair and believable assessment. I wish we could recognize the influence between us like that these days. I just thought of one example. The late Teena Marie(didn't think I'd see that so soon) She gave creedance to Black music by "living" it all of her life. And her fan base was always there with her to support her. I suspect Elvis had more Black fans than some would like to admit. Mentality of denial seemingly just won't die. .

  • @elvispresley11 I forgot to bring up one more artist and song. Hound Dog was originally recorded by a Black woman named Big Momma Thronton written by a Black man named Arthur Crudup. She recorded it considerably different but with the same principle lyrics involved. Incidentally, when Elvis found out that Arthur Crudup didn't receive any royalties for his tune, he paid him a visit and compensated him somewhat considerably. I give E that much and say God bless him!!! He had to work with racists!

  • @elvispresley11 WITHOUT THE BLACK ARTISTS, OR INFACT IF THE WHITES NEVER BROUGHT AFRICAN SLAVES TO THE US, ELVIS WOULDA BEEN FRYING BURGERS AT FUCKIN WHITE CASTLE. BLACK PEOPLE BROUGHT FLAVOR, SOUL, VARIETY, REVOLUTION, ACCEPTANCE TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY. SO DONT FOR ONE SECOND THINK ELVIS IS SOMEWHAT BETTER THAN BLACK PEOPLE IN ANY WAY. BECAUSE TRUTH IS, THE BLACKS ARE A MAJOR PART OF THE MUSIC CULTURE AND STYLE IN AMERICA, IN FACT AFRICANS CREATED ROCK AND ROLL.

  • @dionco92 I'm not saying Elvis was better than black artists. Black music is the great, no doubt about that. But what i'm trying to say is that black people weren't recognized and accepted during that time and so Elvis who was very much influenced by black artists showed the world black music.True, African's created rock n roll! But being a King of something doesn't mean you made it, it just simply means he made it great!

  • @elvispresley11 ELVIS WAS A HERO TO MOST BUT HE NEVER MEANT SHIT TO ME YOU SEE, HE WAS A STRAIGHT UP RACIST THAT SUCKER WAS SIMPLE AND PLAIN, MOTHERFUCK HIM AND JOHN WAYNE

  • @dionco92 Why the fuck would I care if he didn't mean shit to you?

  • @elvispresley11 ok.. give al the thanks you want to elvis..but all the versions of the original songs are so damn booorrriiiinngggg... i dont know exactly what part of "black musica" he show to people... the instruments, the music, the tempo...so borrring in elvis records...

  • Comment removed

  • @tiburcio9999 Ok..His records are boring for you. But not to a million Elvis fans out there. So it doesn't really matter.

  • @elvispresley11 There is a hillarious article in The Onion "Our Dumb Century" whose headline reads "WHITES INVENT ROCK AND ROLL"... It is irony at its finest. Sadly, your comment is not. Pretty sure you had good intentions with this comment, but I would have to say that for every time a black musician thanks Elvis, The King should give 100 thank yous to black musicians that came before him. He owes so much more to black music than black musicians would ever owe to him...

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @elvispresley11 Alot of those black artist died.

  • @elvispresley11 why they should thank him?, the right thing would have been that they had been praised instead of elvis because African Americans were the true creators of these songs and style. They are the true owners of all this. May be they could thank him for make an interpretation of their songs, but not for taking the place they have always deserved. Atte. G from Mexico.

  • @elvispresley11 It was an American problem not a world problem... Black music had been excepted throughout the world prior to Elvis.. Have you ever heard of Jazz Music? Elvis was talented but in my opinion more of a hack then true artist.

  • @elvispresley11

    Whoa! This Is Wonderful Footage!

elvispresley11 ... that's a wonderful comment you posted. Right on!

  • @elvispresley11 Dude are u serious? WTF? The only thanking ANY artist should be doing is to GOD for giving them that talent REGARDLESS of their nationality. Are you from the south or just ignorant??!!

  • @elvispresley11 Um...you do know that the music industry was still heavily segregated up until the early 80's when Prince and specifically Michael Jackson helped break the colour barrier? Elvis didn't do much to help black artists, to be honest.

  • @elvispresley11 What the hell are you talking about ??!have you even heard of little richard? He is the TRUE king of rock and was way before elvis..do your research before posting a stupid comment.

  • Looking at some these comments - some people just don't get Elvis - they probably don't get life either!

  • Love this !!!! Why am I so old....

  • @marvin1905

Man why i'm so young, wrong generation for me

  • little richard's version is way better

  • Thank God for Elvis and Youtube! :p

  • The king!

  • hmmmm.... the "king" of rock and roll is awful fond of performing other people's songs. like all the time.

  • @rnburgandy08 ....hmmmm....did robert deniro write the lines in his movies raging bull, goodfellas, the deer hunter etc..eh NO he did not, but, i think he's one of the greatest actors ever....we all know Elvis did'nt write songs but he made up for that ten times over in every other department

  • @rnburgandy08 wasnt for elvis nobody today would know check berry or little richard

  • how could you not like this guy? he;s just up on stage havin' fun. and entertaining people

  • how could you not like this guy? he;s just up on stage havin' fun.

  • it is true that with elvis. you either love him or hate him.ive been a fan my whole life.in the late 70's when i became a teen.I got into heavy metal and hard rock and didnt listen to him for yrs. I still love metal and hard rock but have gone back and listened to elvis again as an adult and I really like it again.great to hear audio on this clip. ive seen this footage since around the time elvis died. never knew audio existed. great find

  • does it really matter who was first and those questions ? Elvis Presley opened lots of doors for singers back then even now, aswell for little richard believe me on this. he was the first rock and roll super star, the king! nobody can take that away from him!! until his last 2.5 year he looked damn good and was a singer with great vocal reach, I was singer in a rockabilly band and I can tell he could sing songs nobody else could! so lets enjoy this great singer and others that followed!

  • elvis can eat a dick pussy ass cracker want let da black man have shit

  • Little richard became famous after elvis, but little richard had written all his songs ten years prior to elvis. If you check elvis history youll see that he hanged out in black community to learn their music.

  • your wrong little richard started his career ten years before elvis, elvis went to the ghettos and learned how black people danced and sing and used it in his songs, little richard version is 100% times better also.

  • @Mazetheemperor ...yes Elvis went to the ghettos as an undercover agent and did what you said hahahahaha your such an uneducated asshole it beggers belief...........Elvis is from the ghetto dude, plus NOBODY moved to music like Elvis before Elvis and if a black man did well then NAME ONE, plus when Elvis first went into sun studio's in 1953 he was asked ''who do you sound like'' and he said 'i don't sound like NOBODY'' And history has proved that to be correct, have a nice day

  • @008maguire emm the original rock n roll star was chuck berry!! he was the first to play guitar and move like a rock star! he brought out maybelline which was the first ever rock n roll song..

  • AWESOME ! I got to see him on New Years Eve 1975 !

  • ELVIS WAS AWESOME THE FIRST ONE!

  • lol @ nipper chillin in the background

  • Way ahead of his time - looks like he's trying to moonwalk!!

  • @cliftongal51 Elvis wasn't the first pop star to dance around on stage but he was the first megastar to do so.

  • All I can hear is thew sound of women screaming their lungs out. haha, get 'em King.

  • It's great that this Tupelo, Mississippi concert has been preserved. I think people nowadays don't realize how NOT READY (or only TOO ready, depending on one's perspective) for Elvis the world was back in 1956.

  • rubbish little richards is better

  • Wow , how would it feel to see elvis in a live concert !

  • Why do your homework? Why not enjoy your favourite version without slagging the others off? No-one came from nowhere, all were influenced by those around them.

  • im part of the 18 people who dont like this. they hate beatles cover songs

  • @BrownSouth Little Richard's is the definitive version of "LONG TALL SALLY" but it's fun to hear Elvis and the Beatles take on Little Richard's classic just like I liked hearing Little Richard's version of "HOUND DOG" Neither was trying to take the song from the other. Elvis' version was great though and so was the Beatles but Richard's was the definitive version.

  • look little richards version is the definitive sound of rock and roll- and yes i do love elvis to bits, but in his time when segregation was rife, the power and personality of little richard the sheer energy of his music puts his version of the song truly in the everlasting hall of fame long live elvis , long live little richard!

  • Elvis is in the rock & roll, country & western and gospel hall of fames for music, not too mention in the hall of fame for karate! Nobody else is in more then one. He had his influences, but his sound, was something that was all his! Check out the sun sessions from 1954. Oh and btw, he was also the worlds first punk rocker and influenced every major musical act that followed him!

  • Some still trying to convince people that Elvis sounded black.

Interesting that black radio stations would play his music when he came out because he "sounded like a hick". (Who's racist now?)

  • Little Richard recorded "When I Think About My Mother" on Atlantic in 1950.

  • @waxman8003

I thought he did that for RCA in '51 or '52. If you have new info. please post it! Thank you.

  • @ensconse: You're absolulely right--I actually got the record out and looked it over. RCA E2VB-5036, recorded Jan. 12, 1952. But it still goes to show that any claim that Elvis was recording before LR is ridiculous. I think it worked both ways; Elvis stuck to his guns and recorded "forbidden" music (to his advantage), though his critics and even fellow musicians put him through hell for it, and the black musicians were finally in the white market. 'Course, not all benefited (Crudup)

  • @waxman8003

Crudup, I assume, got royalties from the 3 tunes Elvis cut in 1954 and 1956. Also, I believe Elvis payed for a Crudup recording session, at one point.
