I think he's the perfect voice for Mario! I remember when the 64 came out (i think I was 5), I finally got to hear Mario's voice. I also remember not being able to figure out exactly what he said when he tosses Bowser. "So long, ??? Bowser!" A question that bugs me to this day... (Btw the mystery word isn't "gay" like a lot of people say, of that I'm sure)

@Thewoog34 well, the man who did that voice kind of sucked at both acting and voices, so I don't agree. Charles just messing around right there was way better than the old cartoons, and he could have easily fine tuned it to sound interesting. The voice he ended up with is annoying and sounds like some kind of twisted child's voice. To be honest, I always thought the voice was done by some random Japanese actor, who was attempting to sound 'Italian'.
