Okay, to clear up misconception.

Tiers are a measurement of the potential of a character when played at top levels.

Frankly, no matter how good you are with pichu, you will never be able to outmaneuver a fox of equal skill.

Of course, mindgames are something entirely else, and you can make up for playing a character without ability/potential if you're brilliant enough at manipulating the opponent.

Still, low tiers simply don't have enough options, so you'll be fighting at a disadvantage.

@zxshadow1 a valid argument, but i believe that there are tiers, they just don't pertain to anything. People can all agree taht one character may suck, but it's all in perspective. Captain falcon is 3rd in top tier in America, (I would like to say much of that is due to Isai :) but in Europe, there aren't any real falcon mains, you can look to the Armada vs SS matches for that. Any character would have weakness and advantages, but its all about the player. i.e Mango, best player, is a jiggs main

I never believed in Tiers. Sure one character has it's advantages, but they all weaknesses. Just cause one character does mean that character should be used by everyone, one person may actually be good with the lowest tier character, and not with the highest tier. Each person is different, there is a reason why there are so many characters. Cause one of them, will be your best.

No, the most skilled Pichu player will have a tough time against the most skilled Fox player, but seeing equally skilled Marths, Shieks, Cfalcs, falcos, etc beat each other often transcends the tiers, which shows that they are only there as a guideline. A tier list doesn't mean "X Character can't beat Y character because it's lower on the tier". It just means that Y character has more potential than X character.

@ZXShadow1 Tiers DO exist, except everyone is different and they play a bunch of characters. Skill is way more important than tiers. If you normally play an epic gannondorf then just switch to meta knight because he's tier one, then you will still probably lose because you aren't familiar to the character. All tiers are are standings in tournaments. In battles where skill is the same, higher tiers will probably win.

@ZXShadow1 I believe tiers do exist to an extent. Some characters are noticably better than others, however regardless of which character you pick there is always the possiblilty for victory. Battles are detemined mostly on skill, rather than character choice. If everyone did pick the "best" character than it would make for very boring and repetitive matches.
