Man,I remember John Hope forecast the weather especially during hurricanes back in the late 90's on TWC clear as day. He was a good weather man! R.I.P John Hope, we thank you for the memories you gave us.
Mr Hope was the real deal. When he said it was time to get out, you got out. Not all this media hype and sensationalism you get with this new NBC Weather Channel we have now. I miss his professionalism.
Has he really been gone nine years? Boy has time flown by. Of course, TWC is likely the most important 'cable' channel (with the possible exception of CNN) of all. And John Hope was at the center of it...
John Hope was a great weatherman. I really liked is style of reporting hurricanes. And I also remembered some of the "Weather Extras" he did on history and the weather. He will truly be missed.
John Hope is dead?!?! I always figured I missed him for the past eight years during the very few times I tuned into the Weather Channel (I was obsessed with weather in early high school, but then dropped off watching any TV during and after college). I know it sounds profoundly stupid, but I hadn't realized his death until now! He was a great presence on the Weather Channel. Taught me a lot about hurricanes. RIP John Hope...
Tracking hurricanes hasn't been the same since the death of John. I don't think the guy got a wink of sleep when a hurricane was in the Gulf or on the eastern seaboard threating land fall. Turn on the weather channel 3 in the afternoon he was on! Turn on the channel again at 3 in the morning, he was on tracking the storm! Safety was his major concern. Miss ya John!!
Guys, i love John Hope as much as you do but, does anyone remember when they were talking about i think the weather channel's past year and they were talking about all the pregnant forcasters and they joking blamed it on John Hope? that was the funniest thing ever
John Hope will surely be missed. I started watching The Weather Channel in February of 1992 and I had seen Jphn Hope. John Hope was one of the best people I had known from The Weather Channel. thank you John Hope.
I didnt start watching the Weather Channel until late 2001, As a result, I didnt really get to know much about John Hope. I only slightly remember his coverage of hurricanes erin and michelle. And from what Ive seen throughout the web, John Hope has meant so much to TWC and hurricane forecasting. May you rest in peace John );
The weather channel has lost a lot of its best qualities since John died. They need someone like him to run things when hurricanes are around- no hype BS, no competing with cable- just getting the facts to people to keep them safe.
@ILovestorms when my day comes, i will see John Hope and thank him for being the great hurricane expert he was. I started watching the weather channel as a young boy probably around 1981 or 1982 and he made weather interesting. RIP Mr. John Hope
John Hope was the greatest hurricane forecaster ever...I watched the weather channel as a kid just for the tropical update to learn science and weather from a master...
How dare you. Before Jim Cantore, John Hope was the face of The Weather Channel. He helped to launch what has become an American institution. Alas, since Hope passed away and the formula "media sensationalism=better bottom line" became the new philosophy in American media, that institution has been degraded somewhat.
Dang, they were so good back then, so accurate and right! Now they got these John Hope wannabe's. Shame he had to die, Steve Lyons is alright, but no John Hope.
GREAT GREAT OCM. Too bad The Weather Channel has turned into pure shit now. Global Warming B.S. around the clock and now tied in with MSNBC/NBC/G.E. ugh...AL Roker doing forecasts and live shots...forget it.
i saw that when i was 19. the time i met him when i was 12. i cried when he died. he said"i bet when you grow up jake, youl'l be just like me... but i might not be around.

WTF is this crap with people mentioning their ages at the time of his death? This was only five years ago, VERY recent, making you all still very young in case this is your way of saying "wow that was waaay back when, I was still a tyke". *eyeroll* More importantly it's utterly irrelevant, as the video topic has nothing to do with your and your ages. Btw, some of you are still too young for YouTube accounts. Good job in announcing that.
John Hope had one of the best and friendliest approaches to broadcast meteorology and was definitely into informing people in the manner that got out the message in the right sense without causing unnecessary fear.
