  • THE WAKE MY LOVE !

  • I always loved the drum part in this song.

  • I like that I could dance to this version, and Nouvelle's is more relaxing & mellow..I like 'em both ^_^

  • if you like the original and nouvelle vagues cover the same like me thumb this bitch up right now...

  • simply beautiful!!!! great song by the wake!

  • Nouvelle Vague's cover has no depth in its emotion. A very soft interpretation that sound pretty but ultimately is meaningless. The girl just cant relate to what the song means

  • @ajp55a i have to disagree with you dude. i think there both really good. of course the original is better but the nouvelles version is fuckin powerful too.

  • @CapTainBuckAHOE No way they make it sound like a cocktail bar, coffee table song, which it certainly aint, nice but throw away which it aint.

  • @ajp55a nah man your trippin homie

  • @pwid2004

    Me too.

  • No idea why I've been listening to New Order all this time and not these guys.

  • ride the wave, and its hypnotizing. thank you for posting this little gem

  • Absolutely gorgeous tune. The parent album is pretty damned fine too - one of the most cruelly underrated bands of the time chiefly cos they were a Factory Records band who happened to be influenced by New Order. Dreamy ambience, heartbreaking melancholia.....orchestrated bliss. Agree that the songs on the album (Here Comes Everybody) all sound a bit samey and lack diversity (dominated by the keyboard sound and glacial guitar and wistful vocals) but the echo-y production makes it sound dreamy!

  • It's nice to hear your name in a song :P

  • Thank you Secretshine for uploading this. Youtube is amazing. Just about any obscure song can be found here full with appreciation and thought provoking comments. The uploader then leads you to a whole treasure cavern of equally obscure and essential audio feasts! so secretshine, open up sesame!

  • Too much synth= it not sounding like sterreotypical dreary acoustic bollocks!

  • I really don't understand why people prefer covers to the original...or maybe I do, devolution. Nouvelle Vague's version is nice but this is the original, it's better no matter what.

  • try listening to this song at salt creek beach in south orange county california on bright and hot beautiful summer day with a beer

    its an amazing feeling.

  • @CapTainBuckAHOE or try listening to it when you still love your ex girlfriend and you still think about her every single day even though youve broken up about 3 years ago...

  • @CapTainBuckAHOE rofl at you replying to yourself. we feel you tho, brah.

  • @FuckingStanz such a stupid thing to do haha

  • @FuckingStanz i wish i can delete my own comments sometimes

  • I love this song and i love the synth. its such an underground underrated 80s early 90s feel.... i love it.

  • This version is waaay better, it is much more introspective and more heartfelt. The Nouvelle Vague version sounds more "commonplace" , especially with the bossanova-ish guitar rendition and overdone kittenish vocals.

  • OMG there's like thousand bands trying hard to sound like this nowadays...

it's such a great "old" tune

i love nouvelle vague's cover thou...

but both are different and I love both the same...

  • the sound of my youth...こっぱづかし!

  • @Manoffe: You realise this tune is 25 years old?

  • Oldie but a goodie :)

  • auta einai re pousth!!!!

  • I already love Nouvelle Vague's cover, and hearing this - you have to give respect to the original. An underrated band you are, but now it sounds like you're playing a quality tune in the wrong era and with too much synth. Love.

  • omg is that an el Lissitzky drawing on the cover??!?!?!!!

  • Yes it is. I think they also used one on the Something Outside 12" single.

  • yeah so do i

  • This is better.

  • @secretshine

    Way better version

  • yeah this suck

nouvelles version is way better marian celeste has such a nice voice

  • @pwid2004 HOW DARE YOU! THIS IS YOU TUBE AND WHEN YOU MAKE COMMENTS THAT OFFEND OTHER USERS YOUR COMMENT WILL BE HIDDEN! OH MY GOD! HOW DARE YOU NOT LIKE THE ORIGINAL VERSION! OH GAWD! THUMBS DOWN A THOUSAND TIMES! THE INTERNET IS SERIOUS BUSINESS!

  • probably not EH

  • Yeah i must say- i prefer Nouvelle Vague's version!

  • i like the remake O Pamela by Nouvelle Vague it sounds sooo gooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!! listen to!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a great 80´s song! Thank you so much for uploading!

  • does anyone know the guitar chords for this?

  • Oh, and there's an official wake myspace...

New album is set for next year. Be excited.

  • Ha! I was thinking of putting this up today, Seeing as I put up the whole of 'something no one else could bring'! Thanks for putting it up.

    Best song off the album...

Some trivia, some of the lyrics from 'Melancholy man' were taken from Don McLean's song 'Vincent.

  • fucking-all-time-awesome-track

  • brilliant song. I love the drum sound on it, and its just a real great opening track. I do especially like the "first thing in the morning bit"...amazing.
