To get your voice to growl in different registers, use a piano. I've seen it work and the notes of the piano keeps you aiming for a steady pitch in your screams

Your hand should move up and down, then practice breathing by singing first, when starting the scream, make a "HA" sound almost as if your sighing. Play around with mouth and tongue position, and use the diaphram muscles to push the air out and project your voice (still practicing the "HA" sound. Also, play around with your pitch and find the range you're most comfortable with and gradually build upon your ability.

@killazilla02 It's normal for it to hurt whilst you're practicing because there's a lot of trial and error taking place. It's a lot like skateboarding; even though you have watched the tutorial, you still need to teach yourself how to do it (and you might hurt yourself whilst trying to figure it out). It's just important not to over-extend yourself and to stop if you're in doubt. If you want to take it seriously I suggest cutting down on cigarettes and alcohol (if there is any)

I only can hold for about 15 seconds now, I use to hold for about 20+ seconds, but its been going down since I started to smoke. Been working on quitting. Also your throat should never hurt if you scream or growl, your going to ruin your voice.

hi alex, i can produce death vocals easily and almost do good with the screams, can produce average quality pig squeal. But, the problem is - i need help in producing grunt, low death growls very low like SUFFOCATION, etc and grunt like Dying Fetus. please help me in this. its not that i can not do it nothing but i dont have control over my vocal chord and that very quality of grunt and growl doesnt appear.AND another problem of mine is- i get exhausted very soon like when singing after a song.
