i can't fathom this guy's thought process. When the 2 hits on the turn, what is he thinking? "Oh, this guy must have called with a 2 and now he's hit a full house". What a numpty. just check the turn, and then if the board pairs or flushes you've got an out. if you ship it on the river i have no issue with that play, but on the turn? muppet.
@dnapowersports Not necessarily defending the play, but he probably put him on AK with the Ace of diamonds. If you just call he gets to see the river without putting anymore chips in the pot. By going all-in you (and this is your read) you protect your hand and make him pay to out-draw you. Also have to note this was 6-handed. So it's much harder to put someone on bigger flush.
@weatherallc05 lucky flush?? are you serious?? i mean im not darvin moons number 1 fan but hey i think hes kinda right with hes stack 12 people to go! your raising with what was it 52?? then flop a 5!!! high flush and move all in when the board has paired on the turn?? honestly Kopp was totally horrible in this hand FUCKING WORST PLAY I HAVE EVER SEEN SO CLOSE TO THE FINAL TABLE AND POOOOF! all gone :)
Terrible play by Kopp, obviously, but Darvin called fast enough he wasn't considering how he could be beat. But like folks have said, you can't bluff a fish. Give Darvin credit for preparing for the Nov 9 and playing like 100 times better at the final table.
he could lose by 99 or KK..but the pre-flop bet wasnt ''speaking'' about kings..so he had only to fear a pocket pair of nines and ofcourse the much rare 22..or AX diamons KX diamonds
@noobsmoke1993 In the main event around 6000 people enter in it. And the money starts coming in with around 600 - 800 people left. And you will get around double your buy in if you get eliminated just after the cash starts rolling in
@candog111 yeah, like candog said, it's a 10k for the 'main event'. there is a whole host of cheaper hold'em events though, such as the 1.5k buy-in. but if it's some sort of dream of yours to play in the 'main event', why not try winning a ticket online? if you are from the u.s., though, your options will be limited this year due to black friday, but i'm sure there will be some u.s. friendly sites offering satelite events. it's tough to win one, but not as tough as making the $ at the event.
I wish Darvin would have one this event. Joe Cada is the man but got extremely lucky but on the other hand Darvin was catching monster cards the whole tournament so I guess it evens out.
@nowyano23 darvin is way better than he let's his image suggest. do you think he got to be runner up by just playing premium hands and getting lucky? lol. sure, ANYONE who goes that far has to have a lot of luck, has to dish out a few beats, take a few beats, etc., but you ain't making the final table by just getting lucky; not in a field that big. just saying.
@1skullduggery ..... ur fucking stupid, the bigger the field the more luck is involved, if ur saying that bigger fields mean ppl with skill have higher chance to make final tables, then we should be seeing mostly professional players making nov9 every year, fucking dumbass
To flop a flush, the odds are something about 1% but to have 2 players in the pot six handed and both of them having a flopped flush, that's just too much...The odds are very very low... He was thinking that Moon was drawing the flush with the A of diamonds and was trying to protect his hand...When he pushed, Moon realized that he doesn't have pocket kings (early raise) and he quickly called...
the moon man is better than most think he is. he had that backwood lumberjack just playin' cards at the huntin' cabin image, but he knew what he was doing. you don't get to #2 in the wsop main event just by running good. like the play in this video. a lesser player might have sent alarm bells by betting big on that flop and turn. moon just reeled the guy in like he was bass fishing out on big bear mountain lake.
Way to close to the nov 9 that's a once in. Lifetime thing to play on the ultimate final table. He fked up playing 5-3 s way too aggressive wow blew his final table chances
@username8548 He shouldn't have seen a flop with 5-3, that's the bad decision. Especially that he put so much in pre-flop with 5-3, never a good decision, even if you are trying to make a move.
@RubberClits Sometimes players prefer to play small hands(especially suited) to hit their opponents with small hands.Anyway,I agree with you,he put lots of money in pre-flop
@username8548 listen, I have no problem with him playing suited cards or low cards.... but to play it so aggressive with it being so close to the final table, and against the chip leader, it was beyond stupid. You have the whole final table to play cards like that. And it's not like he was short stacked. He got greedy and thought Moon would fold to an all in; Moon isn't check calling and then check raising with 2 pair there, especially with it being so close to the final table.
Nothing Billy Kopp can do. This is a definition of a cooler. Only thing I see Billy could have done differently is not raise preflop with weak hand and loose fish in blinds.
Regardless of it, I would have folded with a low flush; Moon check called him and then check raised him, which is usually a sign of strength. And with it being so close to the final 9, he should have played strongest hands till he got to the final table..... and definitely avoided the biggest stack.
Pretty standard hand, Kopp should (given the situation with two big stacks and a very important finaltable) have potcontroled though and checked the turn behind as the board paired, but going dead here with a babyflush against a gigadonk like Moon is pretty standard stuff.
@Replaynotneeded Which is also one of the popular bluffing pattern of recent times... I lost count of how many times I check-raised somebody with nothing to see my opponent folds.
that flush indeed looked good... but if I'm in the 12th place with a shot on joining the november 9, I might have chickened out and fold. the flush is weak, the board paired, against a fellow deep stacked opponent.... regret, regret....
@lolipedofin good to see another person know good poker a lot of people i've seen anymore make rookie mistakes and never took the time to learn what they should do
I love how everyone is saying how bad Kopp is, when they probs dont even know how the final 3 tables went down and cant fold 2 pair let alone a flopped flush.
How can he know darvin has him beat? Darvin had a very strange and unpredictable style, especialy leading up to the final table, he could have had any kind of draw, a 2, or just a raggedy pocket pair after check callin the flop cus he's donk as sht, but all the players had trouble dealing with him because he ran like God.
Playing 5/3 diamonds that strong on a paired board was a moron move and Darvin was right with the comment he made... I wouldn't mess with that hand so close to the November 9.. Sh*t woulda hit the muck as soon as I saw it.. suited or not IMO.. Btw, I play @the WSOP unlike many of you broke internet youtube donks!
darvin, you should be ashamed of urself son. you won a massive pot, yet you criticise someone for what was a stupid bet. the fact is, you are not entitled to do that, as it is very disrespectful. grow up darvin you bad winner
i thought moon maybe should have bet after the flop, he's in position, obviousy not a huge raise but 1/3 or 1/2 the pot as the check feels a bit fishy. you could probably then expect a reraise and get more chips out of it. I know he got an all in but the vast majority of the time he probably wouldnt have got a whole lot playing it the way he did, was just blessed at what kopp had. in his position he's expected to raise so the check and then call looks strong.
@madforit2 Moon is out of position actually. When Moon raises the turn, I think it's a fold for Billy. I highly doubt he is raising worse here like a KQ type hand with the queen of diamonds. Even though it's tough to fold a flush (flopping a flush=verrry low %), this is one of those spots I think.
The preflop raise is fine with 53d and Moon needs to stfu.
@MrGnomemeat i think kopp probably might have folded if it was anyone but Moon playing him, he probably didnt respect him enough as much as he would have done if he was going heads up with someone else at the table, imagine reaching that stage of the main event though, the pressure would be unreal so cant really be too harsh on him. but he did have enough chips left to get off it.
@BToledo23 These two guys are where the worst in this Main Event. Moon even got a penalty for checking the nuts on river! And this guy just turned his flush into a bluff. With a paired board you cant get called with worse. Insane stuff..
it was poorly played to an extent i think kopp was trying to rep a set giving him a full house in reality he would of played a set the same way he played this hand
go allin on a paired board with smallest flush possible and be surprised when u r beaten after the call... good kopp u r on the way to being a poker pro.. who is always broke
making a call for 600k wen u r small blind at this time of the tournament with QJd wen u hav 25m in chips is not a high risk call pre-flop. come the flop Moon had 2nd nuts. so all Moon had to do was guess if Kopp had KK, 99, 22 of A with any diamond 10 or lower (which would b 1st nuts on the flop). if Moon doesn't put him on any of those hands, then Moon is home and hosed and has Kopp trapped!!
Moon is one of the worst poker players ever. He didnt look bad in this hand but after you watch him on the final table and the rest of his plays in this series you'll realize just how bad he is.
horrible play from Kopp, after the board paired on the turn the ONLY hand he is beating is 2d4d, would Moon really play a 2d4d like that???
and so close to the final table Kopp had easy opportunity to just lose the minimum. pretty standard donk off, as people often say "he's only getting called if hes beat". Unfortunate for him he blew up at the wrong time.
They both excluded flush at opponent by small probability, but Kopp made huge mistake by his "all in" couse don't excluded full and put Moon on bluff. My opinion...
IMO. moon made a worse play than Kopp. Kopp raised UTG, which represents a BIG hand. Darvin Moon calls with QJ. WTF???? Kopp couldve easily had Kings full or 9's full, but Moon cant get away from a flush, with a paired board and for most of his chips. Good play moon, you duck.
@jsmithrox Au contraire. The check-raise on the turn should have made this an easy fold for Kopp because of how strong it is to begin with, especially on a paired board. I don't know if the fact that Moon was on a massive heater tricked Kopp into making a mistake or if it was just exhaustion from several hours of playing, but that turn shove is the worst move made on a televised tourney since Scotty Nguyen paid off quad 5's with ace high.
@jsmithrox you see monsters under your bed, this is 6max, when you are a big stack and have posi QJs is def. a call preflop. Postflop everything depends on table dynamics and how loose Kopp was playing. Yes he could have kings or 9s but why on earth would he shove there when Moon is pot comitted to call on the river with most of his 3betting hands that were not a bluff. So the strongest shoving hand Kopp could have was either AK with the A of diamonds or a smaller flush, which Moon both had beat
I know he was right but i really dont like the call with the queen high flush, i mean there are two scenarios: 1 the guy have a fh, or ace high flush, or 2. the guy second in chips is playing a marginal hand and either bluffing or in this case has a smaller flush.
I really think this close to the final table Kobb would have a better hand than the q high flush in that spot at least 85% of the time. Just my thinking but i didnt come in second in the main event and Moon did so nice call i suppose
he talked shit when kopp walked away from him after shaking both their hands. at least say it in front of kopp since he has the right to hear what mistake he did.
What can he call with that doesn't beat 53d? Is Moon likely to fold a hand here that he called the flop with? WTF can he call that flop with that he can then fold to a 2h turn card? He either has a better flush, a boat or quads... he does not ever have air there.
It's pretty amazing how Kopp has said afterwards he put Moon on a flush and thought he would fold it. Pretty obvious by Kopp's reaction he thought he had the best hand until he saw the QJ.
kopp played it horrendously. he should've folded pre flop. the problem with tiny suited connectors is that even though they can make flushes, straights, and two pairs, they're easily crushed or drawing dead against bigger flushes, straights, etc. plus u might only get action when you're beat. darvins check raise on turn should've told kopp that he was beat unless darvin had 2x with x being a big diamond.
@ucla198 kopp honestly did not play this hand horrendously. Pre flop he was obviously just trying to take the pot but he got some action and its fine he has a lot of chips. On the flop he has to bet his flush cause if moon has a big diamond in his hand he has to try to make him pay to see the turn. On the turn he again has to bet to deter moon from his draw which is where he is probably putting him on at this point, or at best a K with a Qd or an Ad and even when moon raises...
@ucla198 ...he has to put him on the same hand although he might be considering a flush but still so likely that moon simply has a K with a Qd or and Ad. So even though moon did have the flush i dont think kopp played the hand horrendously, obviously did not play it superbly though cause he would've been able to fold but still not horrendous.
wtf r u guys talking about - playing a hand like 53s strong UTG might win u a very big pot and should definitely be part of your range sometimes - depends on table dynamics. Maybe not in your 2 $ tourneys, but when u play against smart people, you have to mix it up.
That being said, he obviously overplayed the 5 high flush on a paired board. His best play woulda probably been to check back the turn and reevaluate the river, but it's hard to say when we don't know the history and table dynamics
I don't think that was bad play. It was very unlikely that Moon had two Diamonds. It was much more likely he had A* or K* or Ace of Diamonds, so Kopp had to protect against a flush draw or a full house draw. Moon might have had KK, but then Kopp was beaten anyway. Also, I think that was very bad form of Moon to run Kopp down after he'd lost. A bit of a tosser really.
Kopp deserved that. He has a huge stack. Why play 3 5 flush like that? Paired board, such a small flush. So close to the Main Event Final Table??? I'm sure he still has nightmares about the way he played that hand
pushing all in is unnnecessary. Based on how many good hands Darvin Moon had been getting this whole tournament and the fact that he's shown the nuts so many times, What could Moon possibly be reraising Kopp with?
@bomberboi200 A2, A9 with A of diamond? Maybe... I don't know... It's quite impossible fold a flush in this situation: he could lose just again a bigger flush! I don't think Moon would have checked on the that flop with 99 or 22...
@DevinDerga u stfu every right to chastise the guy for being a RETARD!!!! 53 ??????? muppet deserved what he got for even playing that raggedy bs in the first place the fucking DONK!
@DevinDerga Lol dont be a pussy. Yes Darvin may have been harsh but he was right. No way should he be raising that late in the tournament with 53 D. He was simply stating that if he had mucked that hand, he would've still been in the tournament
@DevinDerga Darvin is not a great player, but he had a great point in what he said, Billy really overplayed that hand, why should he play for hes hole stack to about the only player that could hurt him and rob hes ticket to the november 9 final table. Aswell as Darvin was running like a train this year, its a bad/risky play by Kopp, he could easily minimize hes losses there. Saying anything other just donk-stamples you.
@DevinDerga Sometimes its not proper etiquette to speak the truth. Never the less, it is the truth. Billy Kopp should never have raised pre-flop with that hand. Billy could have folded his way to the final table and increased his pay day. Of course people do stupid things every day that cost them money, so why should Kopp be any different.
@1skullduggery What are the sites online that get you a spot in the Main event? I'm from Australia if that means anything for the tournaments

i thought moon maybe should have bet after the flop, he's in position, obviousy not a huge raise but 1/3 or 1/2 the pot as the check feels a bit fishy. you could probably then expect a reraise and get more chips out of it. I know he got an all in but the vast majority of the time he probably wouldnt have got a whole lot playing it the way he did, was just blessed at what kopp had. in his position he's expected to raise so the check and then call looks strong.
madforit2 6 months ago
@madforit2 Moon is out of position actually. When Moon raises the turn, I think it's a fold for Billy. I highly doubt he is raising worse here like a KQ type hand with the queen of diamonds. Even though it's tough to fold a flush (flopping a flush=verrry low %), this is one of those spots I think.
The preflop raise is fine with 53d and Moon needs to stfu.
MrGnomemeat 6 months ago
@MrGnomemeat i think kopp probably might have folded if it was anyone but Moon playing him, he probably didnt respect him enough as much as he would have done if he was going heads up with someone else at the table, imagine reaching that stage of the main event though, the pressure would be unreal so cant really be too harsh on him. but he did have enough chips left to get off it.
madforit2 6 months ago
I expected the big mistake to be Moon Folding.

@BToledo23 WTF why Kopp bet everything with such a low hand?

@LucaTurilli89 it ain't a low hand he also had a flush
The flush of Moon was just ways better

@BToledo23 These two guys are where the worst in this Main Event. Moon even got a penalty for checking the nuts on river! And this guy just turned his flush into a bluff. With a paired board you cant get called with worse. Insane stuff..

I would have been worried the minute the man raised 6 million. Bluff or no bluff to go all in with what he had was a monster mistake indeed.

it was poorly played to an extent i think kopp was trying to rep a set giving him a full house in reality he would of played a set the same way he played this hand

making a call for 600k wen u r small blind at this time of the tournament with QJd wen u hav 25m in chips is not a high risk call pre-flop. come the flop Moon had 2nd nuts. so all Moon had to do was guess if Kopp had KK, 99, 22 of A with any diamond 10 or lower (which would b 1st nuts on the flop). if Moon doesn't put him on any of those hands, then Moon is home and hosed and has Kopp trapped!!
TheJRL89 7 months ago
Moon is one of the worst poker players ever. He didnt look bad in this hand but after you watch him on the final table and the rest of his plays in this series you'll realize just how bad he is.

that was terrible play by Copp, Darvin was just wandering

Nicu6923 7 months ago
horrible play from Kopp, after the board paired on the turn the ONLY hand he is beating is 2d4d, would Moon really play a 2d4d like that???
and so close to the final table Kopp had easy opportunity to just lose the minimum. pretty standard donk off, as people often say "he's only getting called if hes beat". Unfortunate for him he blew up at the wrong time.
eoka5559 8 months ago
@eoka5559 Exacly what im saying, Darvin is not a good player, but Kopp played this hand just horrible.
RiCoL0L 7 months ago
They both excluded flush at opponent by small probability, but Kopp made huge mistake by his "all in" couse don't excluded full and put Moon on bluff. My opinion...
kosbarable 8 months ago
IMO. moon made a worse play than Kopp. Kopp raised UTG, which represents a BIG hand. Darvin Moon calls with QJ. WTF???? Kopp couldve easily had Kings full or 9's full, but Moon cant get away from a flush, with a paired board and for most of his chips. Good play moon, you duck.

have you ever heard something about pot odds? lol
47Mortuus 8 months ago
@47Mortuus You ever hear anything about a bad starting hand?
nickma71 8 months ago
@nickma71
lol if you raise UTG you dont HAVE TO have a good hand, poker is about lying, too
47Mortuus 8 months ago
@nickma71 Do you have a poker starting hand cheat sheet by your side when you play poker?
Besides, calling 1 bet with QJs is not that bad, especially in position.
vieestchien 7 months ago
@47Mortuus They are secondary. Because you very likely won't take the pot.
nickma71 7 months ago
@jsmithrox Au contraire. The check-raise on the turn should have made this an easy fold for Kopp because of how strong it is to begin with, especially on a paired board. I don't know if the fact that Moon was on a massive heater tricked Kopp into making a mistake or if it was just exhaustion from several hours of playing, but that turn shove is the worst move made on a televised tourney since Scotty Nguyen paid off quad 5's with ace high.
troycm89 8 months ago
@jsmithrox He also CALLED AN ALL IN pre flop with queen jack when he was heads up with Cada and even in chips.
gazz12345a 8 months ago
@jsmithrox you see monsters under your bed, this is 6max, when you are a big stack and have posi QJs is def. a call preflop. Postflop everything depends on table dynamics and how loose Kopp was playing. Yes he could have kings or 9s but why on earth would he shove there when Moon is pot comitted to call on the river with most of his 3betting hands that were not a bluff. So the strongest shoving hand Kopp could have was either AK with the A of diamonds or a smaller flush, which Moon both had beat
MrTritratralla 8 months ago
@jsmithrox How the heck calling 1 bet preflop with QJs in position a bad play?

I know he was right but i really dont like the call with the queen high flush, i mean there are two scenarios: 1 the guy have a fh, or ace high flush, or 2. the guy second in chips is playing a marginal hand and either bluffing or in this case has a smaller flush.
I really think this close to the final table Kobb would have a better hand than the q high flush in that spot at least 85% of the time. Just my thinking but i didnt come in second in the main event and Moon did so nice call i suppose
hockeyislife67 8 months ago
he talked shit when kopp walked away from him after shaking both their hands. at least say it in front of kopp since he has the right to hear what mistake he did.
chikilan11 8 months ago 3
What can he call with that doesn't beat 53d? Is Moon likely to fold a hand here that he called the flop with? WTF can he call that flop with that he can then fold to a 2h turn card? He either has a better flush, a boat or quads... he does not ever have air there.
WillyMcWilliness 8 months ago
It's pretty amazing how Kopp has said afterwards he put Moon on a flush and thought he would fold it. Pretty obvious by Kopp's reaction he thought he had the best hand until he saw the QJ.
VicenzoV 8 months ago
When I read the title I thought moon was gonna fold his flush... cuz that'd be a hell of a monster mistake
KamuzXDriver 8 months ago
darvin moon is totally right WTF is he doing raising with 53 being the second biggest stack............guy deserved to loose
Devilfish6666 9 months ago 2
kopp played it horrendously. he should've folded pre flop. the problem with tiny suited connectors is that even though they can make flushes, straights, and two pairs, they're easily crushed or drawing dead against bigger flushes, straights, etc. plus u might only get action when you're beat. darvins check raise on turn should've told kopp that he was beat unless darvin had 2x with x being a big diamond.
ucla198 9 months ago
@ucla198 thanks captain obvious
princeton420 9 months ago
@ucla198 kopp honestly did not play this hand horrendously. Pre flop he was obviously just trying to take the pot but he got some action and its fine he has a lot of chips. On the flop he has to bet his flush cause if moon has a big diamond in his hand he has to try to make him pay to see the turn. On the turn he again has to bet to deter moon from his draw which is where he is probably putting him on at this point, or at best a K with a Qd or an Ad and even when moon raises...
bcrusher3 8 months ago
@ucla198 ...he has to put him on the same hand although he might be considering a flush but still so likely that moon simply has a K with a Qd or and Ad. So even though moon did have the flush i dont think kopp played the hand horrendously, obviously did not play it superbly though cause he would've been able to fold but still not horrendous.
bcrusher3 8 months ago
..and billy kopp never played poker again

The best, video! I sorry, Kopp! hehehehe
mundurucaa 9 months ago
wtf r u guys talking about - playing a hand like 53s strong UTG might win u a very big pot and should definitely be part of your range sometimes - depends on table dynamics.

GangstahRobin 9 months ago
The guy raised UTG with 53... suited or not, that hand should be folded. He deserved it.
billybill82284 9 months ago
I don't think that was bad play. It was very unlikely that Moon had two Diamonds. It was much more likely he had A* or K* or Ace of Diamonds, so Kopp had to protect against a flush draw or a full house draw. Moon might have had KK, but then Kopp was beaten anyway. Also, I think that was very bad form of Moon to run Kopp down after he'd lost. A bit of a tosser really.
mucalinda 9 months ago
Kopp deserved that. He has a huge stack. Why play 3 5 flush like that? Paired board, such a small flush. So close to the Main Event Final Table??? I'm sure he still has nightmares about the way he played that hand

pushing all in is unnnecessary. Based on how many good hands Darvin Moon had been getting this whole tournament and the fact that he's shown the nuts so many times, What could Moon possibly be reraising Kopp with?
bomberboi200 9 months ago
@bomberboi200 A2, A9 with A of diamond? Maybe... I don't know... It's quite impossible fold a flush in this situation: he could lose just again a bigger flush! I don't think Moon would have checked on the that flop with 99 or 22...

@DevinDerga Lol dont be a pussy. Yes Darvin may have been harsh but he was right. No way should he be raising that late in the tournament with 53 D. He was simply stating that if he had mucked that hand, he would've still been in the tournament
thenextkobe134 8 months ago
@DevinDerga Yea u are rite. This fad idiot should STF really U. He would looked like an idiot if Kopp had KK or 99...what an fucking asshole..
slatz20 7 months ago
