I like both but I prefer matte. Shimmer is 4 highlighting high points on the face like under the brow. Matte is good if u want 2 do a look with a more defined crease (u r creating a shadow & using shimmer will cause light 2 be reflected) also good 4 daytime looks if ur going 2 work. Shimmer is good 4 party looks tho, if ur going 2 the club. NYX has really good eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushes, I love their stuff & the price is always right. Hope that helps <33
