your basicly standing in your stirrups and planting your hands into his neck, that gives you more risk at falling off. you have NO release and your jabbing your horses mouth
your to stiff when riding, and raise your hands and learn how to do a 2-point and RELEASE. man, people jump high because they think there good, but you have to learn to actually jump first. go back to small jumps and work on your positions and go back to ground work to get in-stiff. then work your way up..but your not there yet
ok, now no one get all in my face for helping, my horse used to refuse ALL THE TIME, so try "locking him in" with hand and leg.... and if he stop/ goes around, stop him turn him right around(dont go to far away from the jump or he will think he can do it all the time) and dont take no for an answer... but you have a really amazing horse, my horse needs to take headset lessons from yours haha
just be quite like you dont know her horse and like she said the horse was having a bad day. We all have bad jumps and all good riders fall. You dont know how she was riding because you ARENT her. If you think u r get a reality check. Her horse is probably not the exact same one you ride.. since no horse is the same. So be quite and critisize you own riding instead of other peoples!
Omg shut up you "know it all horsey-girls" for god-sakes its none of your business what she is doing on her horses, if she wants to jump high, let her, yeah her riding needs to improve, but doesn't everyones?

and don't just sit there if he goes around it, he did it twice and you just let him do it so you should've been ready. And that jump is too high for you, your position and skill isn't strong enough yet.
u need to release over the fences so u dont pop him in the mouth wen u land. he has a nice natural arch and band going over fences. Good luck in further training!
i did no if you were trying 2 get over the jump or not:s keep your legs raped round a bit more and give it a gd boot in the ribs if it keeps running out.
Great job! Just one suggestion though, get into more of a "foward two-point". Right now, from the video it looks as if you are amost "standing up kinda" in your stirrups.
lol its a half sand half mud half grass and half puddles lol. when i first saw that vid i thought u threw yourself off! but then i watched it again i noticed he sortof did a lil dodge b4 the jump lol u banged ur back too!! hooe u wer okay
wow ur horse is soo pretty and a great jumper were u ok that looked like it hurt alot i did someting a bit like that but the pole landed on top of me after lol
vary pretty horse your guys are good jumpers. just like what 94annabel said just lift your hands and also if like in this case he kept refusing to the right then widen your hands and use WAYY more left rein to keep him in one place. (it works wonders! ask your trainer about it) the rest of the course was vary nice! hope you were ok!
Quick comment, when you ride, pick your hands up more, esp. when jumping, as your not releasing enough and catching him in the mouth over the higher jumps.
u have such a nice horse! are u alright from that fall? if my horse were to refuse a jump i would make him stop and turn him in a circle the way he refused to go before continuing just so he would know that he cant get away with it. good job before your fall though!
i think u should of stop trying to canter up to the jump and insted just trot it. every time he refused insted of doing a small circle and smaking the crap out of him . u just let him have the whole arena to plane out his next refusle, u needed to stop and turn his little butt around and make him jump it from a stand still if needed.
i did notice throughout the clip you were getting more and more tilted forward, and your horse was getting heavy on the forehand. that's probably why he refused. also, release with your hands when you jump and fold more. other than that, it looks great!
i totally agree.. you took the words out of my mouth lol (or should i say out of my keyboard) .. you need to sit up and lift the horse off the forehand using ur seat and by supporting him with your stomach muscles but your horse looks great othre than that and will become excellent just work at that particular thing! =]
I have to agree withe candilhorsebabe, perhaps try making yourself lighter on his neck and use your legs to hold yourself in place rather than letting him hold you up. Well done before the fall though! You looked great :)
Your horse is gorgeous and a very pretty mover. You might have avoided that refusal (and the ones prior to the fall) by getting him to lighten up on your hands, as he's starting to fall forward and get heavy, which makes it hard for him to jump correctly. Sit up and drive him forward and straight and he'll probably go over.

Yeah, you need to get into your two-point more and release a lot more. If you give a bit more with your hands, that will help a lot.
quixotesoxs 4 years ago
first, sit up and look where your going and make him look too by doing this and lots of leg youll get him over everytime, otherwise good job
sugaredhotchocolate 4 years ago
it is not the horses fault it is yours
you just let him go right past it and didnt do anything

Its easier to sit to canter when you realx your calf and sit back a little and keep your lower leg forwards

i agree. its the way the horse holds his head hes pulling you foward out of ur seat and making u unbalanced n thats probly y u fell off
alyssajmilano 4 years ago
ur very good.
how do you sit to the canter so well? i'm having a little trouble with that..
hxclaura93 4 years ago
She's tense and gripping so hard with her lower leg that she's not moving. You shouldn't do that though.
RaiseYourVoice84 4 years ago
Why do you have a strong contact on his mouth the whole time?
SpottyPony 4 years ago
That's what I'm wondering too.. There's no need for that much contact. Your horse will get a hard mouth.
RaiseYourVoice84 4 years ago
its okay to keep steady contact, just shes not giving when the horse is being soft.
that will make a hard mouth in no time.

thank you for all comments and advices :) I was fine , only for few days my leg was hurtong.
I know it was my fault. You can use the video whenever you want, I don't mind.
I couldn't make smaller circles because there was a lot of mud, and we might both fall, so I had to ride all that way again and again.
thanks for advice, though.
agut90 4 years ago 14
you were doing well just sit in the saddle more and lift your hands from his neck but i think that it wasnt your fault really
