  • Very pretty.

  • Very pretty. Reminds of 'Selling England By the Pound ' era Genesis

  • Wow, that had me spellbound, can't believe how much he has contributed to the world of guitar music yet he gets so little recognition back. He has really found something special with his new tuning setup it makes the guitar sound more like an enchanting harp.

  • Beautiful.

  • what's the tunning ?

  • @danielworks

His tuning is low to high I-A-M-G-A-Y

    I'm not sure though..

  • @Zolier oh aren't you clever..... not

  • i love this theme!!

  • mr. gambale my repects!

  • what's the tuning?

  • I just listened to the entire raison D'etre album and I must say, I'm absolutely stunned!! It's one of the most brilliant guitar albums I've heard in my life so far!

  • he is just crazy

  • i though his hair enabled to play so good like how hercules strength is in his hair....but wow was i wrong

  • you mean samson with his hair giving him strength?

  • there are a cuple myths like that

    mythology runs together

  • not really, hercules was never reputed to have his strength from his hair. it was definitely samson.

  • god damn that first bit is sooooooo good

  • amazing guitar

  • this just brings a tear to my eye like Timmons does in his 'cry for you' (live) :-)

  • I second that

  • C'est koi le titre de cette chanson s il vous plait ?

What is the title of that song please ?

  • table for one.

  • very very nice!!!!

  • Someone send him back to Easter Island where he was obviously chiseled.

  • Very pretty - I wonder what the tuning is on this?

  • Same relative tuning as guitar but up a 4th with the two high strings down an octave.

    6th string = A ( usually the 5th string )

    5th string = D ( usually the 4th string )

    4th string = G ( usually the 3rd string )

    3rd string = C ( usually the 2nd string but up a half step )

    2nd string = E ( same pitch as 2nd fret on a D string on a regularly tuned guitar )

    1st string = A ( same pitch as 2nd fret on a G string on a regularly tuned guitar )

  • won't this much tension kill the strings in the effect? I don't want to try it out, but it seems to work eh...?

  • Well if you retune your regular strings it will yeah. I did it on my old guitar, you take a 0.10 set A, D, G and B string, and then a 0.09 set D and G string for the top two strings. It works very well! The main advantage is that it's all a 4th higher and the tones are closer together. It's a lot clearer, no muddy sounding tones so it's a big help in your chordal playing :) I don't use it much I must say though!

  • excuse my stupidity, but what has this guy done different?

  • He tuned his guitar different. He tuned it up a perfect 4th so the tuning is ADGCEA instead of EADGBE. It's kind of similar to a baritone guitar but not quite.

  • @Guitareben the guitar is in a different tuning so he is able to play chords and such that aren't properly available in standard tuning.

  • Un maestro!!

  • one of the most, if not the most versatile jazz guitarist ever to live. big up your fucking chest sir. beutiful piece of music.

  • I look like a football hooligan as well. But I´m an ok kinda guy. LOL

  • ive listened to this and uncountable amount of times and i just never get tired of it.

  • Great Song !! Is anybody have the tabs ?

  • a brilliant piece. Very creative and skillful. Frank Gambale rules!

  • el papa de los helados y el q diga lo contrario q revire pues

  • The Great Gambale :)

  • what's the name of this song?

  • Song is called Table For One, off the Raison D'etre album. I was disappointed you don't see him play the solo, cos it sounds brilliant on the record.

  • diablos...que le paso a satriani!!!

  • Absolutely beautiful piece! I think it would sound even more beautiful on an acoustic.

  • he looks like a football hooligan, haha.... a nice sounding one though xD

  • simplemente es un manejo necesario en ésta época de su arte

  • Here's a true fulfilled artist

  • He's a genius

  • O_o!!

  • love his stuff, but the shaved head look is really weird on him.

  • great reminds me of tommy emanuel

  • I have never get bored to listen Gambale's music, even after 10 years. He has alway be my favorite guitar player.

  • He looks like Shrek. Brilliant!

  • wow...he really does look like Shreck!

  • I would not call him underrated, but he doesn't quite have the fame of people like vai, satch, yngwie. but he is certainly more deserving, not saying they are bad players. just not in Gambale's class. Great books as well as albums. Keep up the great work! (in case you ever read this)

  • What song is that? Frank is awesome

  • it's "a table for one" from "Raison d'etre" album. My favourite song in that cd

  • He looks like shrek, he should grow back his curly locks

  • Beautiful stuff

    Gambale is a true artist.

  • this is absolutely lovely

  • What IS his new tuning? Does anybody actually know the pitches of each open string?

  • Hi, the Gambale tuning is:

    6th string = A ( usually the 5th string )

    5th string = D ( usually the 4th string )

    4th string = G ( usually the 3rd string )

    3rd string = C ( usually the 2nd string but up a half step )

    2nd string = E ( same pitch as 2nd fret on a D string on a regularly tuned guitar )

    1st string = A ( same pitch as 2nd fret on a G string on a regularly tuned guitar )

  • Notice the reflection on the strings. It appears that his new system on the lower neck might be using a different tuning and a different arrangement of the actual strings. The B string for example is not relecting light like the plain steel strings in the upper neck.

  • 8)

    sweeet

  • Ive always had such a special place in my heart for the things he does like this is alternate tunings. I absolutly love this :) thanx for posting it!!

    Micah

ps:check my guitar vids out...im not gambale or lane yet...bu t god willing I will be there someday!!

  • This is beautiful! What tune is this by Frank?

    Gambale is amazing.

  • Hi,

The song is called Table For One off of his Raison D'Etre album. In the album song he plays an electric solo that is just as awesome sounding as the finger picking part.

  • Thanks for the info! I really need to get all of his stuff. Just an incredible artist. I had "Thunder from down under" a long time ago, but lost it. Geez....

    Thanks again! :-)

  • maybe the best player ever... he at least makes a compelling case.

  • Always class playing from FG. I wish more people would check him out live. In his live shows, you get to see his overall range. Lovely fingerpicking in this song.

  • I like this tune,thanks for posting
