  • Did anybody notice how much attention to detail Stunt Race FX had? There are so many things they could've not done and made it a simple racer, but instead it feels polished and crafted with love:

    - The eyes BLINK! Not everyone will notice it but those who do will smile.

    - Levels with state changes (night to day)

    - Dynamic levels (cruise ship, airplane flying, animals crossing)

    - Pause game quirky animation with interactive playback speed

    - Boost, lives, damage, carry-over time

    And much more.

  • OMG, I've been trying to remember this game for awhile now. omg, I'm a girl who played this game, I'll admit. My dad got it for my sister and I as a kid, 90s on the super nintendo and it was soooo much fun! Thanks for uploading this! :D

  • This game is great and all, but it feels funny to have a 3D game for SNES.

  • I used to play the POOOOOP outta this game! I wished so bad that they made it for the 64 back in the day.

  • i loved playing this game back in my childhood.

  • This game should be remade on the 3DS with many more option/modes and youcan customise your vehicule ! but i don't want to generally want this game to be remade but Starfox too, both these games where the first 3D games on the SNES and should be reckognised

  • @DoUbLeH9 That would be a good idea, but the only problem is this- Shinobu Amayake, the music composer to this game does not work at Nintendo anymore, so therefore the remake is pretty much moot.

  • LOVED this game

  • so many sweet memories

  • Fuck I loved Stunt Race FX!

  • haha, I remember telling my friends how sweet these graphics were lol

  • memories :)

  • When I was a kid the Master Class was a ball buster for me. I couldn't even make it past Lake Side sometimes.

I eventually revisited it later in life and cruised through it.

  • Crap, I hadn't noticed this before, but as the race progresses the sun rises and it becomes morning!

  • best racing game ever! and a I´m serious.

    graphics/fun/tech...

    -nitro

    -damage

    -various game modes

    -lives!

the most innovator of his time...and something has changed from 1994?

  • Stunt Race FX remade on Wii THAT WOULD PWN

  • They should tottally remake this game today and make it run at 60fps.

  • That 4WD truck at idle sound like it has a diesel engine in it.

  • LOL, it probably is wouldnt you think?

  • haha this game had horrendous controls, but i loved it anyway

amazing what they managed to accomplish in this game, considering the SNES' hardware!

  • I actually loved the spongy controls.

  • @someguy8383 I agree with you there.

  • Mario Kart vehicles with Stunt Race FX like personalities and vehicle damage would be a sick game if Nintendo ever came out with it especially if it had some good multiplayer game modes stuff like tag, capture the flag, seek and destroy team & free for all, strikeout, king of the half pipe, and racing.

  • Sorry for the last comment being a bit too personal, I just needed to make sure people wouldn't respond to the comment with "Y TEH FUK DID U SEL IT?!?!" or "UR MOM IZ A *word I refuse to use about my mother*". Like I said, she's gotten over my game obsession and tolerates it just fine now.

On topic about the video: you're pretty good at this game. Better than I was, but then again I haven't played it in over 7 years. I'm better at racing games now than I used to be (mostly thanks to Mario Kart).

  • Man I loved this game as a kid. To this day I still regret selling it to GameStop. =(

Don't blame me, my mom kinda forced me into selling a small few SNES games a few years ago, but luckily the only other games were ones that I either hated, or edutainment titles that were of no more use (the old Mario learning games). I still kept all of my other good ones, and mom gave up on trying to make me sell more games. I love my mom, but years ago my game obsession used to annoy her. She's over it now.

  • My brother had a megadrive, i had a snes. You would never see graphics like this on a megadrive. I still remember the rubber like car handling. Games like this made me into the shit hot gamer i am today

  • @stuartgangsta What!? Virtua Racing has better graphics,it more fast and is for megadrive

  • @stuartgangsta Stun Race is a good game. But is for little kids.

    Virtua Racing is best

If only Sega had not released the 32x and had taken advantage of the benefits of the svp chip. The story would be different. Damn sega!

  • I'm still fascinated just how good this game was in its time

I mean we're talking a 3 mhz snes with a first generation fx chip here and even mario kart 64 didn't have 3d cars

  • @nooblet911

When I first played it the PSone wasnt quite out yet. So for a brief space of time, it was the most high tech racing game on a home console. Still a lovely game. The only think that lets it down and dates it is the draw distance. I didnt notice it at the time though.

  • These cars for new upcomers in Mario Kart.

  • I had a blast when I played this on a new SNES as a kid. My family enjoyed playing it, too.

  • At 4:32 the water effects on the window, they where only in the ending right?

  • The water effect is also there when you play but only when you're in first person view.

  • zomg, pixel-shaded water effects on the windscreen!

  • those water effects look crazy good for a snes don't they?

  • I wish I could complete master class on this game, but I can't even get past Big Ravine IIRC... anyone know if this class is completable in a coupé, BTW? I think my lack of ability to handle the racing car is part of the problem

  • I managed to do it in the 4WD, which I didn't actually think was possible until I replayed it a couple of weeks ago. If it can be done with 4WD, it can definitely be done with the coupé.

  • You can make it easier by pressing select at the car select screen, and then setting all the opponent cars to coupe. Then, use the coupe as well.

That's how I beat master class the first time. I didn't have too much of a problem controlling the race car, but that made little difference when the 4WD kept smashing me into pieces at some of the turns. By the time your car gets put back together, even if it's a straight sprint to the check point or finish line, there just isn't enough time.

  • the came can be completed in all modalities with every car.

I did it when I was a kid, I re-did it a couple years ago (now I am 21) and id can definetely be done, just keep particing ;)

  • I can only beat it with the F type.

  • idk man secret of mana is pretty awesum

  • Ah yes, Stunt Race FX. This was the very first game I got into as a child, and it still holds a very special part in my heart. This and Star Fox, Yoshi's Island, Doom & Vortex ruled the SNES with their Super FX chip capabilties. :D Now if only Nintendo had released Star Fox 2. :/

  • Notice how they always put someone behind you at all times? You can never outrun them.

  • This game kicked so much ass.

  • If you really want to be hardcore, race this track in the truck, you will be fighting the clock every second of the race! It sounds lame but it makes this hyped level even more thrilling

  • nice save at 2:30. this was a good game! i can't believe you did it with the 2WD, I did that with the Red Car but I only did it twice! damn, I need to find my SNES! lol

  • They should have made a port or new version for gameboy. I loved this game to death!!!

  • I actually like these graphics.

  • 4:18 recuerdo que de pequeños jugabamos con mis hermanos este juego y a este carrito le deciamos el papa-movil jajaja

  • This is my favorite game on the snes this and Starfox of course:P

  • Arwings have a couple cameos in this game, since they both used the same 3D polygon rendering technology

  • yea def one of my fav games of all time, i liked MK2 also

  • haha, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that likes to hit the horn as I cross the finish line.

  • this game realy blew me away when i got it all those years back on its release, it suprises how nintendo have still not made a newer version on newer platforms.

  • I have recently bought stuntrace fx and I can't get to the master levels. I don't know what I'm supposed to do.

  • Master Class only opens up after you complete Novice and Expert (maybe it's only Expert, I forget though).

  • I remember the panic when I (2WD of course) started to wobble near the water and the Formula one comes closer.

    Great game and great graphics!

  • I still have this game today since 1994. The game sure brings good times. My favorite vehicle I use is the 2WD and 4WD.

  • same here. This, Super Mario Kart and kirby were my first games about 12 years ago. At 3 years old, I was a hardcore gamer.

  • dude your MUCH better than me with the 2wd, this was the first ever game ive seen and played, and im still playing it today, just beaten every class with the yellow car, also how do you keep awesome control of the 2wd?

  • It's hard to explain.. It's easy to lose control of the 2WD. If you turn left or right too hard when you're losing the control you will just start doing 180/360°.

  • Great run! This takes me waaay back. I was a huge Stunt Race FX player back in the day, and I give you props for your excellent control (especially with the brake). I noticed you got a bit shaken at the end, but you pulled through quite well... :-) I forget what my best Harbor City time was, but I'm sure you overshot it by quite a bit. Kudos!

  • Yeah I was a little nervous on the last lap because I didn't want to fall in the water and have to record the run all over again. ;)

Also I never use the brake on this game.

  • Wow I miss this game, I ripped it not so long ago cause I don't have snes anymore, but I still have the games, but heck it was FUN playing this again

  • thanks

    this game takes me back

  • The cars in this game are so adorable

  • One of the best games the SNES has... It was amazing back then and now that I watched this vid, I regret selling this game years ago to buy N64 games... It was hard to control at first, but one you got use to it, it was pure fun! Nice memories...

  • This game was amazing back then.. I remember how addicted I was! Especially when I found out you could drive in first person mode!! It actually shed some secs off the race time aswell, since the cpu wasn't slowed down by having to render the car. ;) Good times.

  • Is this available on Virtual Console for the Wii? I am going to check!

  • Personally I don't have a Wii yet.. But from what I saw there is no FX games available on the VC. Maybe it's harder to emulate.

  • this game was a leap for game design. i remember playing this thinking to myself as a kid.. wow... 3d!!! and the music in this game was actually hot and not corny!

  • Let's face it, games like GTA would not exist if not for the FX Chip.

  • Yea, it's not like PC's didn't already have 3D games or anything.

  • really impressive game for the snes (first generation fx chip) in its time. changable conditions during race!

  • One of my all time fav games!!! I still play this on emulator to this day XD!!! Awesome post! Thanks!! ^_^;; Spent many hours playing this game as kid hahahaha

  • Come on man , we're talking one of the FIRST 3D games on a console!

I think it was damn good for the time it was released!

  • dude you have NO IDEA how GROUNDBREAKING this game was for the time! For one thing, it may be cheap polygonal 3D, but it was as bestly rendered for the time! The gameplay was also really fun, and all your "points"about the game make no sense WHATSOEVER!

  • holy crap! it's been years since I played this game!

it was one of my favorites as a kid

  • Holy cow. I remember this! I LOVED this game! You're good, I must say. I don't remember beating this game as a kid. One of those games I nearly forgot forever...

  • I still have mine! Infact I have 2 copies since it rocks so much!

  • Yeah, when I had this as a kid I was a cocky little brat, always thought I could handle F-Type. Then ran it on zsnes about a week ago and beat it in about 2 days.

  • lol... back to the old days

  • wenos recuerdos xD

  • Man.... this game brings back so much memories.

  • one of my favorite games on SNES

  • This game was awesome back then, and it was one of only a few games on the SNES to use the SuperFX chip. My only complaint about it was that it was kind of hard to control, probably due to the low fps (must've been running at like 10fps or something)

  • Great GAME!

  • I kicked ass in this game one of my all time favorites

  • Having beaten this game myself back in the day, I can tell you this is no easy feat. Nice job.
