a spanning tree of a (connected) graph consisting of nodes and edges is another graph consisting of all the nodes and some of the edges so that:
1. Connectivity is maintained
2. There are no loops.
Or, in other words, the minimal set of edges so that removing another edge would break connectivity. Or the maximal set of edges so that adding another edge would create a loop.
