They maybe never got as big as they deserved, but were definitely near that when Vince Neil from Mötley Crüe ended them. Mötley and Hanoi were in a party somewhere around L.A. when Vince decided to go visit another party. Completely wasted drunk he got behind the wheel and took Hanoi's drummer Razzle with him. Of course he crashed and Razzle was killed. This devastated the band beyond repair, because their magic came fron their mutual chemistry. They tried other drummers, but that never worked.

Oh, and Michael Monroe played sax on a G'N'R video, I don't remember the song. He's an awesome rock'nroll saxophonist too.

Virtually every glam rock band came after them. Of course not all of them had ever even heard of Hanoi, but they existed well before the 80's Glam Rock Boom.

@Scorpio211170 thats cause Hanoi were never part of that glam 80's trash they were more in tune with the 70's glam rock and punk rock. Hanoi is basically a punk band, and one of the best. Only the best of those 80s bands really knew Hanoi, GNR, Rock City Angels, Dogs d Amour, Faster Pussycat, Kix.... the rest were just bullshit.

@crlumberjack Yep, it's nice to see that someone's got the facts straight. :) My point was that they were not "just one of the 80's glam bands", but existed well before that and their style was the same from the beginning @79. Many of those glam-boom bands changed their appearance completely for that boom and back to "normal" after it. It's safe to say that they *could* have been the size of G'N'R or Mötley. Or not, but they did have everything it took back then. Maybe, just maybe even today. :)

The reason they did not break completely was that drunk driver Vince Neil killed their drummer Razzle. All the other bands similar that came after are simply lame imposters. GnR and such just copy all that Hanoi did, musically and appearance.
