  • My God, What is this? This is absolutely unbelievable! Wonderful! A piece of heaven...

  • artistes like Measha and Netrebko breathe new life into this art form. they make it current and relevant to my generation...thank God for variety and newness, freshness of new verdant vegetables. Exquisite.

  • Exquisite performance.

  • ABSOLUTELY OVERRATED

  • Magnifique! Quelle belle voix!

  • Why not give this piece a new twist? I agree that she overacts sometimes, but still this is called "EXTASE de la Vierge". And I find this rendition pretty extatic and intoxicating.

  • Such a magnificent talent. I love her!

  • What a fabulous piece of music.

  • A beautiful voice and evident stage presence, why does she not sing operatic roles on stage? Yes, this is powerfully sung BUT...way way too oversung and overacted, really too glamorous when it shouldn't be. "La Vierge" can be loosely called an oratorio after all. She adds several high notes and extends phrases, so some appear strained and a couple og high notes go flat. Very impressive, though. For an idea of how this SHOULD be sung and look, refer to Montserrat Caballe in 1999, simply superb.

  • @philipc67 I like her, but I think Measha scares people a little. As an emerging African American Opera Singer myself (with many years of experience also in Hollywood), I can attest to the fact that there is a very "fine line" between what is "likeable" vs. what is intimidating. I believe Measha's size, power & energy, while revered, are intimidating... similar to Jesseye Norman, who was also NEVER cast in Opera Productions. To whoever's reading this, no offense...just my humble opinion.

  • @SingerForLife3000

Actually Jessye Norman did sing on stage, especially when younger, think of her Aida, Alceste, Ariadne et al. Measha I agree is intimidating, and way oversings/overacts this piece, which should be peaceful, flowing and ecstatic. Look at Montserrat Caballe for the proper and recommended rendition.

  • @philipc67 I stand corrected, on all levels. Measha is a beautiful singer. And, the Caballe rendition of this piece is sublime.

  • @philipc67 ... I stand corrected re: Jesseye Norman. It seems she did perform MANY Operatic roles during her early career. However, I can only find records of her "concert performances" of "Aida." In all levels, however, Norman is a force to be reckoned with. Amazingly, she easily switch between Dramatic and Mezzo Soprano Leads... no mere feat! But, back to Meesha: I'm a fan of Messha, AND, now that I've heard it, I actually PREFER Caballe's verson of this particular piece. Divas RISE!

  • @SingerForLife3000 Utter nonsense. This Canadian soprano is magnificent.

  • @Pywacket2 .... I appreciate your input and opinion!

  • A beautiful woman with a beautiful voice singing a beautiful song. Match made in heaven.

  • bravo

  • OH WOW!!!!! Fantasique, Measha! You are captivating! I had shivers all up and down my arms.

  • why didn't the audience explode? maybe they were crying too much and trying to wipe away their tears! i would be sobbing!

  • I love her so very much.... she, to me represents a new breed of singer. One that has to so well versed in everything in order to keep the music relevant. That was truly a commanding performance. She is sooo very giving... I have the strong feeling that she left everything on the stage. whether it was technically sound or not, who cares it is already in the air! They criticized all the greats for some reason or other. Why should this lovely woman be an exception. leave it on the stage. i say!!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!! That's pretty much all i can say. I am speechless. She kicked this one out of the ball park and around the world.

  • Yay my cousin is amazing :)

  • Yay my cousin is amazing :)

  • this is very beautifull...I've never liked her that much until hearing this... she has matured beautifully... what is she singing?.. sounds like Massenet.

  • please does anyone know who sings this song

    /watch?v=9UO9ndEFvDE

  • incredible...and for those of u sweating her technique can u do it the right or the wrong way? o and no she isnt one of my faves i just came across her ad im blown away

  • She has indeed a beautiful and powerful voice!

  • OMMGG...The music hall is incredible!!! what is the name??

  • @violinlova

Koncerthuset (trans. The Concert House) in Copenhagen, Denmark. It really should look good, seeing as it went about 1 billion dollars overbudget:P

  • don't you also have that beautiful new opera house? the Danes have it all!

  • @wl03bu

Some say it's beautiful, some (including me) call it the most hideous Ice-hockey mask to every inhabit Copenhagen, but taste is undiscussable - and the inside of the new Opera House is wonderful - and the acoustics is incredible!

  • My GOD, that's gorgeous...the aria, the voice, the woman. I was transported...

  • Splendeur!

  • What a beautiful woman. What a great artist. Such magnificent performance.

  • Massenet: "L'Extase de la Vierge" from the oratorie La Vierge

  • please!! What song is this??

  • Unbelievable.

  • her french is amazing(like no other)

  • @SexxiChica011 You're right. She was born in New Brunswick (Canada), where both english and french are official languages.

  • Oh! I forgot to mention that Measha is strikingly beautiful. Her expressions are those of a true diva. Brava, La Divina!

  • Measha Brueggergosman has a stunning and well paced voice. I love the way she builds to the climax of the piece.

  • ihre abendkliend ist sehr, sehr schön!

  • I wonder why her tongue flaps as it does

  • that's how it should be

  • Are you a vocal pedagogue?

  • I'm a opera singer, thanks for asking :)

  • Please explain it then.

  • can't in english, do u speak german?

  • No, that is not how it should be..neither the tongue or jaw should be shaking

  • oh really?

  • and singing through the teeth, with the lower jaw jutting forward? ok, if you say so.

mouain, ça donne ce que ça donne.

  • technically yes your right but tbh who cares when she sounds this great :)x

  • Who cares???? That great sound we all love will not last a long time if she doesn't find a better teacher that teaches her a natural technique. That jaw and tongue shaking could possible turn into a wobble. All that tension means that something is not right in her vocal approach. It really sucks that people are willing to sacrifice longevity with instant gratification.

  • You can't say that something is not right in her approach, she obviously knows what she's doing and knows what works for her and what doesn't. If allowing her jaw to quiver a little bit helps her to stay loose, then she should by all means go ahead and do it. If the jaw is slightly quivering, by the way, there is no way that she has tension there.

  • @actionsrlouder

I totally agree!!! I attend the school that Mrs. Brueggergosman used to attend, and her old teacher worked on basically the same thing from 1st year to 4th year...Jaw tension.

  • @chloeweir You worked with her teacher??

  • @actionsrlouder

No, but I go to school with students of hers...and I'm sitting about 8 feet from her right now. :)

Measha actually came here the other day and worked with one of her teachers' new students.

  • Most people wont agree with you, but I'm with you. When someone has a great technique the jaw and tongue should not be shaking. I'm sorry, most people don't want to hear the truth because if makes them feel that you're taking away from their favorite artist. I'm not taking away that she has a great voice, I love her voice myself, but it won't last if she doesn't change her teacher. Technique should be seamless and natural, not full of tensions.

  • @actionsrlouder

The jaw should at all times just hang, but the tongue MUST be free to move, that is the purpose of just letting it lie there. It must be relaxed and flexible in order to make the vowels. Her tongue is quite relaxed. Everybody's tongue move in the mouth when they are singing, otherwise it would be tense and tight. I really did not see any major problem with the jaw. I would have to see her close up and study her body build before I made any major comment. First hand: BRAVA!
