It's strange, my girlfriend has never watched an episode of The L Word and yet believes its just full of sex and thinks it makes lesbians look cheap, easy and complete sluts. What she doesn't realise is that its telling so many stories that otherwise wouldn't have been told our way. The L Word brought people closer to seeing that we do actually live our lives the same as straighties do, same pain, same joy, same fear, same love... as these scenes show brilliantly.

If it was for the gay/lesbian community, then they kinda failed because they ignored younger group. I adore the story lines and the characters, but its sad that people only watch for the sex? :-/

I misspoke. I meant that most tv viewers are looking for that love connection in their programming. Not so much just sex. And that's straight tv programs too. I don't feel this show is the absolute in a gay/lesbian slice of life. But it has opened a window to a view that has had very little opportunities to be displayed in our living rooms and can sometime because of this rareness have to bear extra weight of issues affecting gay/lesbian communities that can hinder a good old fashion storyline.
