Sure that's the DOHC? Usually it would say Duratec on top like my old Contour 2.5 did, this looks like the Vulcan 3.0 to me...you'd know, the Duratec will burn a hell of a lot more rubber than the Vulcan...
@autonami Just the nature of the beast...I've listened to other engines, they do the same. IIRC, the cam lobes are what are responsible for the louder than normal sound. They initiated a TSB for the noise on later model Duratec engine cars (like 2003-2005 models).
@eddeddie22 To be honest, the mount next to the rad and the one next to the trans pan were fine. it was the rear one that had started to leak hydraulic fluid. The other two are solid mounts. So could have been left alone.
@Duratec86 My mom has a 00 with a Duratec she bought used in 2002 I believe. I thought it was the best car ever. Well, after getting my license and driving it I disagree. The ride is very floaty, too many blind spots, just not a comfortable car. Power really isn't that great after driving newer vehicles. Sorry Taurus, no thanks. Least it didn't have the turd Vulcan motor. The rear of the car looks way better than the front.
@studpuppy69 Yea...there are a number of upgrades one can do to the car to make it more enjoyable to drive. Struts and springs with OEM upper strut mounts can help, so can sway bars. If you adjust your mirrors right, you can pretty much see a full 180 behind you, the blind sports are worse in newer cars. And yea...butt looks better than front!
@Duratec86 Not worth the money. The car isn't worth much now. The B pillar and C pillar, I've driven newer cars I drive an '06 Sonata I don't have the blind spots. The Camaro and FJ Cruiser is a great example of blind spots. I set my mirrors so I can just barely see the side of the car, I'm familiar with pushing them all the way out but that's not the way they are supposed to be set.

@yellowmusicfreak It's brazed (?) into the black plastic valve cover up front. Drat YouTube won't let me post a link to a picture.

nice motor mounts time to replace them
biggdaddy2001 2 years ago
also sounds like you have a leak in your exhaust manifold, or in the exhaust itself, the car is not supposed to sound like a diesel while idling

That's just noisy fuel injectors and a really POS camera LOL. It doesn't sound like that to the ear.
